that the reason they ask you how many times you have been to disney when you call is b/c that's how they send out their promotions and pin codes. When i called the other day to price a trip in june she asked me how many times i had been there. i told her the same thing i tell them all, idk, i went every year as a kid and have been several times as an adult. She then said so you would say more than 10 times, and i said yeah. She said the reason we ask that is they send out discounts to certain people for how many times they visit the parks. :confused3 don't know if it's true or not, but last year i seemed to recieve a pin everyother month or so. I did call a lot last year b/c we had planned on 3 different trips and had to cancel all b/c of DH's work. Like i said not sure if it's accurate, but i never really sign up for the DVD's or save my quotes and I get pin codes left and right. I've even got 2 since Nov. Worth a shot to call them every once in a while.

I have only been twice when I was in high school but didn't stay on property, so when they ask I say it's our first trip (it is for the rest of the family). I have gotten 6 pins this year along.

Funny thing was I didn't know what a pin was until this summer and read it here. As I was the phone with a CM I asked if I had a pin next to my name and was told no. As I was talking to him I got an email with a pin. I have been getting them ever since.

Well as you can see from my signature-we've been numerous times & not a pin code for us, EVER....so I take it upon myself to search out those deals-if I can't find a good one, we don't go. Got 40% off this upcoming CL trip...so I can't complain too much....:goodvibes

I am in your camp.

I think they simply dont give PINS to those of us that come every year (or more).

I've been over 25 times in the last 10 years (according to their records...and add a couple more when I went for conventions) and have never received a PIN code.

But I am an AP holder and usually have that discount for my stays, so maybe they don't feel I need to get a PIN.

I wish I understood their mysterious criteria for doling out PINs. I have been at least once or twice every year for the past 14 years (and many years 3-4 times). I have filled out that survey with the wandering survey person In ther parks numerous times. I have tried calling and asking if there was a PIN attached to mine or my husband's name. For the past 3 years, we have been annual pass holders.

Yet....sigh....never a single PIN. Not even once...

Seems to me that Disney does not have to entice those of us who go every year with a discount. So they don't bother sending us a PIN. They assume we will go regardless. We are money in the bank in their eyes.

Those who have been there once or sporadically.... that is new money to Disney and they entice them to come with these PINs.

JUST MY OPINION...

I've been 6 or 7 times, but not since 2006, and this was the first time booking in my own name, and we got a pin and upgrade.

I think I am going to throw a wrench in the theory about going frequently or going every year mattering. We have gone every year since my oldest has been born (he is 9)- sometimes 2x a year and when they ask me how many times, I say 15. We were there in August and November in 2009. Recently, I have received the pin which expires in June and I received the one for the majority of 2010. I hadn't received any at all until 2008 and then it was like the flood gates opened and we have gotten quite a few and used some of them. I really wish I understood it too b/c it is quite the mystery. I wish you all luck in getting them b/c I know how frustrating it can be.

oh i didn't mean b/c i had been so much is why i got a pin, i just meant that they send out certain pins according to how often you visit, hence the different pins everyone gets. I will say that when I called I did NOT book anything only got prices on 3 resorts. and just less than 5 min ago today got an email that said thanks for choosing BLT (which is one we priced) with the dates I told the CM and to the side was a diffrent pin that the 2 i have saved in my email. :confused3 i too don't understand their reasoning with sending them out i just wanted to share what she told me the other day. And simply to suggest calling to ask questions b/c that may prompt them to send them to you, espically if you don't book one on the phone. They know you are interested but need a nudge in the direction to get you to seal the deal.

I'll turn a wrench in the theory....

I'm at the over 25 times when they ask....I tell them I couldn't tell them how many and they usually ask over 25, I say yes...

I have gotten pin codes several times, used them twice. I can say probably 4-6 times in the last 2.5 years...we used 4/09 and 10/09.

What is a PIN??

THey are discount codes that are person specific. They can only be booked by the person named, however, that person can book up to 3 rooms usually. It can be a room discount,a free giftcard, kids play and stay free or an adult pays kids price (food and tickets) These are a few of the types I've received.

Based on my families experience this information is not true because my family and I have had multiple onsite stays since 1998 and not once have we got a pin code, in fact the each time the Cast Members have never asked us how many times we have been there when making a new reservation. We are also registered on the WDW website and always register for the newest Disney Parks planning DVD's and still no pin codes.

I also want to say I am not upset that we never got any before because I know when they are sent out it's totally random, so I am just explaining how it has been for us. However for our trip last month we got the AAA discount on a room only reservation and for this August we got a 40% off bounceback rate.

Me too! I was just telling DD that we have never, EVER, gotten a pin. We've been going since our oldest was 8 months old and she's now 22.:confused3

There are so many Theories about how you get a Pin and
why you won't get a Pin.
It's hard to believe any are correct.

I have tried everything suggested for the last 4 months and
nothing--Register with 3 different Email addresses, saved Vacations,
Ordered DVD, Ordered Maps, talked online with CM, took short and long
Surveys (several times), Made sure all pop up blockers were off, cleared cookies, added WDW to my Trusted Sites, Emailed and wrote a sad story (twice). I've also heard people say that they only been to WDW once several years ago and have gotten several pins this year (so the more often theory is not correct).

I was even told that I may not qualify for a pin code but they won't tell
you what qualifies you.

I just think WDW sales has a target area and It seems to me that more pin codes have gone out to those guest living closer to the world--East Coast and Southern states.

I have to disagree with your theory. My best friend and her ENTIRE family have been going every year, at least once, most times twice, for the last 5 or so years and she gets PINS all the time. And she's MEAN and forwards them to me. Me, we've been 2 times, both in 2008 and I am constantly pricing packages, trying to be able to go again and I have NEVER received a PIN :(.

Thats not too nice!

I agree, folks have put holes thru my theory.

Who knows how they assign the PINS.

All I know is I never get them.

Thank goodness for the recently announced room only discount. They seem to be as good as the PINs (except for blackout dates)
