I thought it would be neat to have a place to post some of the outrageous things CMs say.

When DH and I were on our Honeymoon, we were at EPCOT waiting to have our picture taken with Aurora, and a little kid had a Pal Mickey...the CM looks at us and says, "I hate those Pal Mickeys...they are so annoying!"

:earseek:

WHAT!?!?!?!?!? .....NEVER NEVER NEVER say anything bad about MICKEY! :earsboy:

On our last trip, my 2 young children and I were coming out of the Pocohantus show. That is one of our favorite shows and she's one of our favorite characters. 4 adults were coming up to the entrance as we were exiting and the they asked the CM how long before the next show. She told them not to bother...it's not a very good show anyway. I was almost ready to walk back to them and tell the CM that it is a GREAT show and my family really enjoy it. It just left a bad taste in my mouth...to have the CM talk bad about an attraction.

I wore a Disney Hawaiian style shirt to brunch at 1900 Park Fare. While I was at the buffet, one of the servers commented on my shirt and told me that it looked like "fun." She said that she wished that her husband would wear a shirt like that, but he is "no fun at all." She then proceeded to tell me that she was terribly unhappy with her marriage and had even considered leaving her husband! I listened to her politely for about four minutes as she weighed the pros and cons of a divorce. Poor lady.

In January, 2005, my dh was taking my picture with Goofy when he goosed me in my ear! (there is even a picture of it). I was so shocked and said "Goofy"! The CM handler said to me "you know you liked it!" I don't know which shocked me more, what Goofy did or what the CM said!

LOL! Too funny! But, I must say...Mickey is my least favorite Disney character. In many of his cartoons, he is always so mean to Pluto (my FAVORITE!) He calls him 'stupid dog', and even slaps him in the face. He is always making Pluto cower on the grond, and wag the little tip of his tail, hoping for approval. Makes me want to set a giant mousetrap!

We have been to Disney many, many times(leaving tomorrow morning for our next trip) and the majority of the CM's are so nice.
However, on one of our trips, we were staying at Beach Club Villas and apparently there was some kind of mix up and the computer showed us checking in 3 days later than we should have been!
. So, we had driven 1,000 miles and they we telling us we had no room and there was nowhere to put us! We were very nice about it and waited patiently for some kind of resolution, but the CM was not very nice. He said to us, "well, I dont know what to tell you. What do you want me to do-build you a room?"
Needless to say, this is where we called for a manager and somehow a room quickly appeared and we were refunded a portion of our vacation club points-probably because the CM was so rude.

How do you "goose" someone's ear? I have never heard of doing it to that part of the anatomy before?

I'm guessing that was a typo and the r was missing in front of ear.

no I meant ear - he stuck his finger down it and then pinched it - it was like a goosing to me!

I'm not trying to discount what happened to you, but Goofy has huge fingers. I'm not sure how they would fit in anyone's ears. How odd!

believe me, I would agree with you Feralpeg - I didn't think it was possible either! I'm putting it under information I didn't need to know but now do!

Very sad story

Well, I just want to say that an explanation for some of these weird comments are that the CM's are probably College Programers and let's face it their kids ( I was in their shoes once). That said.............I was very good friends with a certain Peter Pan  that always would encourage kids to pick their boogars and I thought that was really inappropriate and totally out of character. He also said other VERY out of character things spontaneously that embarrased me.

"...and would you like some more eggs with that story?"

WOW, someone really needs to talk to a professional there or her husband. I'm sorry they had to spill it all on you on your vacation and at brunch. That was nice of you though, to be polite enough to listen. I think if it was me I would just be asking for another Mickey waffle and move on.

On our honeymoon trip in November of last year, I purchased a hooded sweatshirt in one of the shops on main street on an especially chilly night. It's the navy blue hooded sweatshirt that has "WDW" in red and blue stars and stripes and says "an american tradition" under it. I think I paid about $65 for it- but it's good quality, and that's really how much I expect to pay at disney. On our past trip two weeks ago, I had the sweatshirt on while walking out of EPCOT one evening. As I was going through the turnstyle, I noticed a male CM about 26-27 years old looking at my sweatshirt. When he realized I noticed him staring at my chest ( :rotfl2: )- he said "Those sweatshirts cost a fortune... I can't believe YOU people actually spend money like that here"------- I just kind of gave him a raised eyebrow look and kept on going. I couldn't tell if he was just kidding or being serious. My husband (the real sarcastic one) said, as we kept walking... "well, I'm glad he liked your shirt".

We were staying at Pop Century this year and my children loved the Disney magazine left in our room. I called the front desk and asked if it was ok to take it and of course they said "yes". I then asked how to get another one because my children collect everything Disney and both of my kids wanted one. The CM on the phone said to ask the front desk. When I went down to the front desk to ask, the CM there asked why one wasn't enough. I explained that both my children wanted one and she told me that my children should learn to share and not act so spoiled. WHAT???? I was so shocked I just stood there. Fortunately, the CM next to her overheard and gave me another magazine and apologized for the rude comment.

When I was at WDW in September, I noticed that a number of CMs made sarcastic comments and jokes about the rate of pay at Disney. I always viewed those comments as inappropriate and they wore away the magic a bit.

While inapproprite, I'm not suprised. Many of the young kids that work at WDW have very little money. They make minimum wage. Some of them have never visited WDW as a guest. Their first experiene with WDW was when they began working there. It must seem incredible the way people spend money at WDW. There is no way they could ever do it. My sister works with kids like this. They talk about guests coming into their store and spending $1000 on Christmas ornaments. These kids live in a different world than most guests to WDW.
