a chuffed mom thread

am on a high today as my lovely son (12) decided to tell me about certain things last night like changes that are happening to his body, we sat and talked about puberty for a bit but I am so chuffed that he can be so honest and open with me, I just had to share!

I wouldnt have dreamed of discussing any such matter with my mum when I was a teenager !
I still cringe when I remember back to the time she found a small collection of erm "adult" magazines I had obtained when I was about 16....they were in a hold-all which she had needed to borrow when I was out....she just said something along the lines of "I have borrowed that Adidas bag...your magazines are in the wardrobe".....Im guessing she was probably as embarrased as me, hehe. I quickly binned them and never got any more thats for sure !

oh dear I must admit I've tried really hard with Cal to make sure no subject is taboo, simply because I knew I'd be bringing him up on my own and didn't want him to feel unable to talk about anything. Also he only sees his dad every other weekend and I know when you're a teen issues have to be resolved NOW!

I could never talk to my mum either, I just made do with what I learnt at school and surfed the internet when I had the house to myself. It's great that you have such a fantastic relationship with your son and he knows he can talk to you. Puberty can be a really scary time!
