Seems odd to me, I can't even think of any extenuating circumstances where a couple would already know now that Christmas day was the ONLY day they could get hitched.
I don't see an inherent issue unless it were a church wedding and the church was just overwhelmed with regular Christmas Eve/Christmas Day activities as our church is.
Just sounds like the couple wanted it on a special day. I likely would not attend though unless it was a special couple or a special event that they were creating. (i.e. I wouldn't attend for DH's co-workers cousin's neighbor type of situation. But I likely would for immediate family as long as it didn't commit me to financial hardship.)
