This might be a daft question, but I'm trying to settle a dispute so I hope someone has an answer.

Many guests complain about the seemilngly ridiculously low temperatures onboard Disney Buses

does anyone know what temperature the A/C is typically set at on Disney Buses ? (resort transportation)

TIA

All I know is the temperature on the buses feels fine to me. :confused3

It might only feel cold to people because they're boiling hot before they step into the bus. It feels great to me.

No idea but I have had the driver adjust it so it wasn't so cold when our family was the only one on the bus.

Agreed. It is cold but you're also super hot outside. It has to be at least 65*?

I don't find the buses any colder than the indoor theaters and restaurants. Of course, I freeze in most of those. :lmao:

I can't answer your question OP, but I can tell you that Disney buses are the reason I carry a light cardigan, even in September. We got soaked at DHS in a downpour - nice and warm outside so it didn't matter - and then sat on the bus in the cold A/C for 20 minutes before we got moving and DD and I were both sick when we got back. I don't like anything cold unless its something I get to drink :lmao:

Based solely on my experience, I can tell you there are several busses where the A/C is not working. Those tend to be the ones I get that are also more crowded than a Tokyo subway at rush hour.

In the summer, it feels like heaven to me. We were at DHS one year and were picked up mid-afternoon by a bus with no a/c.....on a day that really required it. We were really exhausted due to several late nights, so we just dealt with it. But I did warn folks getting on the bus back home at SSR.

Guess what would happen if they shut them off! With the Florida sun plus the door opening and closing all the time, it would be unbearably hot in just a few minutes. Then to recool the air would take all kinds of time. remember those things are all uninsulated glass. Also what may seem like the arctic on the side out of the sun, is more like a huge fire on the sunny side.

I don't know what they are set at specifically, but the ones that we had in Vermont were set at about 68 degrees in the summer.

No idea but I have had the driver adjust it so it wasn't so cold when our family was the only one on the bus.

There are two tricks to that... one is to shut it off completely, which would be a disaster in a very short time or they just tell you that they turned it down and within a short period of time your body adjusts, the sweat evaporates from your body and you feel more comfortable. They didn't ever have any controls to just change the temperature anyway, it was either on or it was off. The newer Gillig type buses have to be set by maintenance and in the interest of keeping everything balanced have been told by the manufacturer to not shut them down.

I would also recommend thinking about the driver. You will be on that bus for a short period of time, they will be on it all day. They are encased in glass. It is probably 20 degrees or more, warmer up front then in the rear of the bus. If you find yourself getting cold and it is unbearable, then be sure to bring a sweater or something with you to keep yourself warm. You are not the only person on the bus.

This thread makes me laugh since my dad's been known to take a "bus ride nap" to enjoy the a/c while tent camping at Fw:rolleyes1

The a/c doesn't usually bother me but when outside temp drops 30+ degrees it was a tad chilly. It was a trip from GF to whatever park we were heading to to catch our bus back to resort and a major cold front pushed thru

.....and THIS is why we sit in the VERY back of the bus on the "heaters".... ;)

I'd much prefer cold buses over hot ones. Friday late afternoon when we were headed back to the Magic Kingdom, it was ridiculously hot, to the point where the air outside, with a slight breeze, actually felt better than the inside of our bus. My three year old nephew fell asleep in his mom's arms, and he was sweating profusely.

I hate A/C. In a car, bus, my house, restaurants and malls. I have a jacket with me more in the summer, than I do in the winter. I know it is necessary, but I still do not like it. Maybe for the first 5 min., than after that it gets to cold for me. I live in Minnesota, where it is cold for at least 6 months. I don't like to be cold in the summer too.:rotfl:

You live in my bizarro world where everything is turned upside down, down here in Florida you literally NEED A/C in your car about 9.5 months of the year and about 350 days of the year in your home.I've realized I enjoy life more when it's cool to cold,I know too much cold is not good either,I know 30-35 degrees is about as cold as I can deal with as I've been in colder and yeah that can get as annoying as 90-95 degrees with heat indexes of 110.Perfect is high of 65 and low of 45.As far as the buses, yeah they definitely lean to the colder side but as others have said cold is better than hot,I've been in some buses that had A/C issues and that's plain horrible.I remember riding one bus with a messed up AC from AK to probably Epcot and there was construction on Osceola pkway so we were just sitting there sweating. I was sitting in the back of the bus and I'm assuming that's the engine or something because that seat must have been 110 degrees to go along with the bus that was like 95 degrees inside, probably was 95 outside the bus as well but at least there you have the breeze.Eventually when the bus started moving I got up and stood next to the back door that had a small slit open with some air coming in which helped a lot.I couldn't imagine that bus kept running after it let us off.

Of course if they set the A/C to an ideal temperature when the bus is full, once the people get off that bus if it stands for a few minutes, that temp is going to drop without all the heat generating bodies in there. And if it is adjusted when empty, the same will be true in reverse. I guess there must be times when we just get onto a bus and this has happened.

At times I found then really cold and I am not some one who is easily cold.

But we go in september and usually head out to the parks later in the day.. This means usually our busses are not full, almost empty.. There is a huge difference if the bus is empty vs.. a jammed pack- full of post Wishes crowd people..

a lot has to do with the blowers.. Last year my whole trip started with a cold from hell that lasted 8 weeks. I was miserable on the busses. In fact I used my black cardigan as a head and neck scarf; people where starinig at me, but i didnt care. . I literally felt my already sore throat get worse once the AC blowers hit me. From the outside people problably thought some saudi lady was in the bus!

What temp the bus has is problably irrelevent. I think most has to do with how heavy the blowers have to work to maintain any temp.

OP here

I asked, not to discuss wether the A/C was set too low or if you need it in Florida.

The main issue is how it "feels". And A/C sure feels cold compared to the Florida heat.

The dispute I'm trying to settle is that some guests think that the A/C is set dangerously too low. Some even say it's 60 or below inside the buses.
But, to me, this seems very low and not realistic a figure.

I live in a country where, when it's over 70F it's a warm day, even a hot day.
And I know that when I enter my room at a disney resort and the AC is set at 72 it's freezing. But at the same time, 70 is how hot I heat my home during the winter. So I know for a fact that it's a comfortable temperature, but it's all about how it feels.

And what I'm looking for is a realistic figure to demonstrate that what we feel as "cold" on the buses is actually quite "hot".

As a fellwo person living in Europe, I would say bring a light cardigan or long sleeve shirt. i could also see some people here needing a light scarf.. it's really more the cold air BLOWING than the cold itself. But if the bus if full with standing crowds, you will not notice this too much. I know too alot of europeans have an issue with be hot and sweaty and then having cold air blow on them.. hence people giving you a nasty look in summer when you open train windows.

BTW, I also this "bus" AC issue on some rides.. I recall in Epcot living in the land and ini MK the new Little Mermaid and It's a Small World ride being really cold and I felt the blowers everywhere. I also wrapped my neck and shoulders in my cardigan..

Again, I had a summer cold with sore throat and so I was already sensitive, but I noticed the indoor, darker, longer rides really had the AC going compared to other indoor places.
