A/C Noise in rental

Hi.

we're in a rental with a brand new , in the wall a/c unit and it is SERIOUSLY noisy. It's mostly when the thermostat kicks in.

Anyone btdt and is there anything I can do to muffle the noise of it? Landlord is useless. It sounds like a jet engine in my living room. (( thanks all.

Impossible to tell without hearing it.

Wall air conditioners are just really loud in general. There isn't anything you can do about it.

25 years of living with an AC guy some of the things I've learned:

1. Make sure it's very slightly angled so that it's draining outside - some of the noise could be water rattling around inside the unit (by slight I really do mean slight the back should be like 1/4 to 1/2 inch or so lower than the front)
2. Pull the filter and clean it regularly (vacuum and/or wash) DH checks ours daily to check for dust especially when the pollen count is high.
3. Make sure the outside temp is higher than the programmed desired inside temp (if the temp outside is lower than the programmed inside temp then the unit is going to freeze and be extremely noisy and oh, yeah, you'll ruin the unit)

and then if that doesn't help, well, you're sunk - it's just a cheap crappy unit that you're either have to live with the noise or be hot.

ETA - however; if it is a brand new AC unit. Try calling the manufacturer. But be prepared to be on hold for like all day.
