A bunch of picky eaters!

My entire family (grandparents, aunt, uncle, four cousins, my parents, and yours truly) will all be going to WDW in January. We're all Disney veterans as we all live in Florida (and the majority of the family lives in central Florida) but this is the first time we're all be going together.

Everyone but my parents, oldest cousin, and I are extremely picky eaters. We have an ADR for Chef Mickey's on our first night since we figured it'd be a fun place to start off our trip and to celebrate a birthday with plenty of choices for everyone. However, my grandfather made an ADR for all eleven of us at Citricos. While the non-picky eaters will be thrilled about the food, I'm worried about the picky eaters.

Is it possible for some of the adults to order something off of the kids menu or will they accomodate the picky eaters (like my aunt who would eat mac and cheese for every meal if she could!).

Thanks! :)

It amazes me how many posts deal with this very topic. There is only one way to overcome the problem of being a picky eater.

Try new things!!!!

That said, I wouldn't worry because there are things at most Disney restaurants for even the pickiest eaters. I can't tell you how many times I have seen adults eating chicken nuggets and fries at Boma because they were no more adventurous than their children.:sad2:

It's always possible to make entrees plain by leaving off sauces, etc. For example, Citricos serves a beef filet, a roasted chicken breast, a pork tenderloin....it doesn't get much plainer than that. Disney restaurants are very accommodating about leaving things off, substituting sides, etc.

I totally agree. I just looked at the menu and they have the basics, just done up fancy. They also have a salad which you could get plain (my husband will ask for lettuce, cheese and crutons and gets what he wants most of the time). Also look at the appetizers and see if there's anything people will like.

Personally, if the patriarch of the family is making a reservation, I'd show him the respect he deserves and go with a smile on my face. If there was absolutely nothing on the menu that really thrilled me, I'd get a salad and dessert and enjoy the evening with my family.

I should also have mentioned that adults can always order from the childrens' menu. It might be a higher cost for an adult-sized portion, but the kids menu at Citricos does have mac & cheese, grilled chicken, grilled beef, etc.

My wife used to be a really picky eater when I first met her and during the first few years we were married. What we found is that all the resturants have a few basic dishes, like chicken and steak, that can be served without sauces or seasonings. Also most places have french fries or plain vegies you can sub for the other sides.

This may not be applicable to your situation, but for my wife she would order dishes like this without the sauces and with fries or steamed veggies on the side. When I talked her into trying lobster at Narcosses, the pickiness went away.

Since you're on vacation, I wouldn't even bother trying to encourage (or force) them to try new things. I would just let them know that if they don't see something they like, they can always ask to have it done "less fancy," without sauces, etc... I've always found Disney to be very open about this.
