A bug question - yes, there are pictures.

We've had these bugs around the neighborhood, they're creepy and fly. :scared1: Then we stopped at the grocery store, the whole front of the store was covered in them.

Any idea what they are aside from freaky, ugly, flying monsters?!!?

Ewww. I have no idea what that is. I don't see those around my neck of the woods.

search for "what's that bug" for a very cool site that I've always been able to id my bugs.

Looks like some kind of stinkbug.

Sorry, I don't know but, WOW, how cool is that!! How big is that thing?

I wish this board had a resident bug expert. ::yes::

We just had one of these out in my backyard. I went to take a picture of it but it hopped away. Here's a photo I found online.

That's a katydid. I let it walk onto my hand thinking it would stay there for about 2 seconds but it didn't want to get off. :confused3

**snipped out the huge bug pic - yikes!**

It's about 2 inches from tip to tip. I took the picture at the grocery store, I never leave home without my camera in case I run across something strange! Too bad I missed the bear running across the street, it was already in the woods by the time I got there.

We get them here, I can't remember their exact name, but they stink the high heavens. Avoid touching them at all costs. :scared:

We had them in our elementary school one fall. The kids just called them Stink Bugs. I had never seen them before.

don't know specifics, but its a stink bug. The north east is covered with them right now. I have had 5 IN my apartment in the last 2 weeks. Not cool. I don't mind bugs but these *&$%@ creep me out :scared1: . I enjoy grabbing them with a tissue (making sure not to kill them yet) then flushing them alive. It is the only thing that makes me feel like they will not come back from the dead. (and yes, I flush the toilet twice just to be sure...you don't what things crawling around down there while ya do your business now do ya?)

Haven't ya ever seen "A Bugs Life"? That is a stinkbug. Did you squish it? that would produce the stink.

My son calls this a leaf bug. He tells me my dog loves to eat them. Eewww

We have them. We call them stink bugs. If one gets on you, they are not as easy to get off (just brushing them doesn't usually do it). If you smoosh them, well thats the smelly part.

Ours aren't around right now as I believe they died when the tree guy sprayed our trees for the moth/caterpillar thing that has been trying to eat (kill) our trees.

I hate these bugs. My sister doesn't have them two miles down the road. They were bad when we first bought the house and I considered selling the house to get away from them.

Don't know, but doesn't it bugyou not knowing? :rotfl2: Sorry, I couldn't hold back.

Looks like a relative of the box elder bug.

Do you have a catalpa tree nearby? They really like those trees.

They FLY?!?:faint:

I just saw one of these two days ago on my porch. I'd never seen one before. I guess they don't have them in New Orleans.
