I recently sold my house and combined households with my parents as my mom is terminally ill. We bought a new ranch that is handicapped accessible. It took forever for my town home to sell and I didn't get nearly what I wanted for it. The proceeds went to the new house.
Yesterday in the mail I got a $2500 check from my mortgage company from escrow! I assumed I'd gotten that at the closing. I planned this Disney trip sort of on a whim and used a 0% interest for 18 mos credit card to pay for it. My DD will be a sophomore and my son will be a senior, college expenses are coming up. I'm lucky DD still wants to go alone with me, I figure. My son lives with his dad as of late and DD lives with me. It's been a hard year, letting go of custody of my son and seeing a lot less of him, dealing with my mom, adjusting to a new household and giving up the independence of owning my own home.. As a single mom, I was proud of that. I also lost a huge amount of child support that I stupidly had been counting on as always being there til the kids got older.
so this check I can put towards Disney. I was so happy, I burst into tears. I was feeling guilty about spending the money on Disney when the kids would be going to college soon. I feel so much better now.
feeling blessed
