i know there is an early booking discount. can someone just give me a "ballpark" percentage as to what it is? thanks!

It's not a discount - but a hedge against price inflation. The cost of the cruise gets more expensive (typically) as time transpires. Early booking locks your price in at the current rates. This is especially important if you want to cruise during the more popular (read expensive) times of the year.

You will read old threads (and others will testify) that they checked the price just before sailing and recount significant price increases as the sail dates approach.

I don't think there is a percentage, or anything like that you can bank on.

I'll agree with GenieDana. Most of the time, the price of the cruise increases as the date approaches. If it goes down (sometimes happens), DCL will match the lower rate...you just have to contact them. So there's no down side to early booking. You can cancel or change dates up to 60 days ahead with no penalties. After that, there is a percentage charge for cancelling, but you can still re-schedule. Once documents have been issued, there is a small re-ticketing charged.
