DH and I have been booked to visit Mickey since October last year for 4 weeks on the 4th July for our first trip without the family - 2 weeks free DDP at OKW follwed by 2 weeks at a beautiful villa at Indian Creek. Only had car hire left to organise............... until yesterday morning when DH received a letter citing him for jury duty starting on the 12th July! :scared1: We posted off all the necessary confirmation of our booked holiday to Dumbarton Sheriff Court yesterday afternoon. Keep your fingers crossed for us everyone that they look upon our request favourably! :thumbsup2

Fingers, toes and anything that can be crossed is crossed!!!!!!!

Gosh I really hope it works out sending major amounts of pixie dust your way :wizard::wizard::wizard::wizard::wizard::wizard::wizard::wizard::wizard::wizard::wizard:

Try not to worry too much. I deferred jury service once because of a pre-arranged trip and it was no problem at all. Think you are allowed to postpone once so as long as he hasn't done it before you should be fine.
Fingers crossed anyway:goodvibes

I should think that they are prepared for the fact that they have hit holiday season and some people have planned and booked a holiday...I am sure they won't expect you to not go. I have also heard of people not having to do it because of a pre arranged holiday..:)

The information on the form you had to submit certainly suggested that they would do their best to accommodate DH's request for excusal. They did say that they would be unable to excuse jurors if the pool for ballet fell below 30. I would imagine there will be other people in the same position as us - just keeping our fingers crossed that we get our request in quickly enough to be successful.

Good luck! Hopefully they will defer it.

Coincidentally, I got called up yesterday for jury service at the end of July. Luckily we haven't got a holiday arranged but were looking to book something mid-August (just within Europe as we've had our Florida trip this year).

Hope all goes to plan and he gets excused!
I have also heard that they excuse you if you have a pre booked paid for holiday.

Im pretty much in the same boat apart from its the Dh who is in the forces that had had his leave cancelled by his work,we are trying to find a way of getting it bk else we will lose the holiday plus the money for the flights " not pretty"

fingers crossed its good news for you :thumbsup2

It's ok. As you all said there was nothing to worry about. I got a letter yesterday to say that I was excused jury duty.

Phoned earlier today to arrange Magical Express (wonderful Disney Person at the other end of the phone got me right in the Disney spirit). :goodvibes

Now we've just got car hire to arrange for the second fortnight. Oh - and ESTAs.:thumbsup2
