okay, what to do???

I made our first reservation at SSR and just found out I will be 6 months pregnant by that time! (Can't go down in June that far along in pregnancy!) Happy but also a little bummed about this. Also, I actually borrowed from my 2004 points for the reservation! Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Congrats:Pinkbounc If you don't want to go to FL while you're 6 months pregnant, can you move the trip up? You will have to stay somewhere other than SSR, but at least you won't have to worry about what to do about the points. If you can't move the trip up, maybe you can rent the points out? I vote for going a bit earlier, though...that way, you can get a nice, relaxing Disney trip in before the baby comes;)

disneycrazed139,
Oh! What a wonderful surprise! :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

Hmmm... Now, what to do about the points. This is tricky, because you can't go any sooner than June because SSR is not open.

Some things you could do (I'm not sure what your UY is):

1. Rent out your June ressie.

2. Cancel your June ressie, bank your current UY points and use the borrowed points for an exchange somewhere closer to home.
(Maybe a nice relaxing get away would be good before the little one arrives :) ).

3. Cancel your June ressie, bank your current UY points, rent out your borrowed points...

Good luck!

Congrats!!

Are you sure you can't still go? I went to Disney when I was 6 months pregnant and had a great time. You will have to take it easy and miss the best rides but if you have an uncomplicated pregnancy you should be able to still go. Check with your doctor.

CONGRATS

Go ahead and go just take extra money for more Mickey bars?:earsboy:

Why not go ahead and go in June and just take it alot slower. It will be a good time to take a break form everything going. And just think of all that shoping you can do for the little one at DTD.

.... Just send me your reservation confirmation sheet and I'll take care of the problem for you. I don't mind, really.

This could be a new DVC sales gimmick. Make a ressie, get a baby.

I also went when I was six months pregnant and had a great time.:D

Check with your doctor, he/she just may let you go. I went last year, six months pregnant in May and the doc said it was OK but he did sent me with a copy of my chart! He was actually more concerned with the three hour flight there than me being in Florida for a week. He gave me lots of instructions which I followed but I had a great trip. Definitely ask before you cancel, it is so great to have all those pics of me pregnant with the characters, it made the trip even more memorable!!

I vote to go and enjoy! If you can walk now at the beginning of the pregnancy like I did. Then the extra walking will not be so bad. You can take lots of breaks. Hey you have a great place to go back and take a little nap...
So you can't ride some of the rides. You can still enjoy. The swimming pools are great when your pregnant..

Hope you soon have your dilema figured out..

Hi,

I'd go if you feel up to it & be sure to ask your doctor before you go. Congrats!!!

Six months along isn't too bad. You would have to forego some of the rides, but there's still many, many things you can enjoy.

If you don't feel you could handle it, maybe you could ask for one of those "one time only" grants from MS. Hear they occasionally grant requests to reinstate points under certain conditions - one time only. I'd say a pregnancy might fit the requirements to receive one. They might let you put your borrowed points back in the original year.

I'd be tempted to move my ressies up a bit and stay at another resort. Or even move up your SSR ressies to mid-May, when you're 5-and-a-half months. BUt I can't imagine that the heat and humidity would be much different from Mid-May to June.

disneycrazed- Congratulations and good luck with whatever you decide!

congratulations!

i don't have any points advice, but if i were you, i would still go. like another poster said, i'd start some walking now so you are used to it. take frequent breaks and drink tons of water and you'll be fine. if this is your first baby you more than likely will not be huge at six months along.

i have june ressies too and am hoping i'll be pregnant again by then!

good luck with your decision.

There will be things you have to miss, but there is no reason you can't travel at 6 mos. As long as you are having a normal pregnancy there are very few restrictions at that point. I just got back from a trip to FL at 30 weeks pregnant (am 34 weeks now). I had a note from my phycisian allowing me to fly. Most airlines don't have concerns until you are around 36 weeks. 6 mos is still your 2nd trimester - go and enjoy what you can while you still have the energy - the 3rd trimester will suck it right out of you!

Congratulations

If your doc says it's okay, I vote with those above in telling you that you could go. I went down when I was 7 months pregnant once and had a wonderful time. Of course, I missed some rides but that was no big deal.

Second trimester is a perfect time to go...none of the 1st trimester problems that some get, i.e. naseau and you won't be too big yet.

Of course, it's up to your comfort level, but think it over!!

We went when my dw was 6mo pregnant. The major difference for us was that it was December. HONESTLY OUR BEST DISNEY TRIP EVER!!!!!

This was prior us purchasing dvc, but it really help solidify our decision to eventually buy. We took the trip at much slower rate than our previous trips. We always knew that we wanted dvc, but that was because we knew that we save $$ in the long run. But we found the Magic in the little things..

1. Purchased that picture at each park that take when you walk in. We made a frame with all four parks. We call it, "Four Parks, One Baby!" Our now 21mo loves to go up to the custom framing that we had done and points to mommy's belly and says, "baby".

2. Water Breaks. Now, we been to wdw in May, so we know water is important, but it was so nice to slow down, sit down, and relax by people watching. A good learning experience for expectant parents.

3. PARADES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My ds would "dance" in my dw during the parades. This made mommy feel so special to share her parade music experience with her unborn son.

4. Attractions: My ds absolutely loved Pirates and Small World. The music was too much for him. This past trip in May, was the first that that experienced Small World from the outside, and while he stood between us and danced, my dw began to cry thinking back to our December '01 trip. She did ride the Safari at AK, there is a seat, towards the front that has "less bumps". If you decide to go, just avoid the mountains.

In summary, if you can handle the heat, I say go.. It just might make your wdw vacation even more magical.

I just wanted to say CONGRATS! We have 'added on' one child since becoming DVC members and he was concieved on a DVC trip!

If you really feel that you cant go then I would do as others suggested.... cancel and bank, then rent out or stay at a Concierge Collection hotel near by for a night or two....

I have gone to WDW 10 weeks preggo (with the formentioned 'add on') and although I threw up ALL over the world, it was a great trip. LOL Plus I noticed a zillion of really really preggo ladies walking around.... funny how you only really notice them when your in the same boat.....

Again, Congrats!

Why can't you go? I went in June 2001, 6 months pregnant..in the middle of a heatwave. LOL WE had a great time at OKW by the pool.;)
If you don;t want to go when you're pregnant, I would reschedule for early next December-the baby will be 3 months old, it won't be too hot for him/her and you'll get to enjoy WDW at the holidays.
We took our first in Feb when she was 3 months and it was a piece of cake, old enough that she was sleeping through the night and interacting a bit, young enough that she wasn't trying to crawl or walk. ;)

You have a little time -- let it ride for now! After all, you could rent at 2 mos out almost as easily as 5 mos out. (Not everyone plans wayyyyy ahead like us DVC members!) And if you're seeking the DVC "dispensation" (that one-time "grace" they allow), again, you could use it closer to the travel date, stating you thought it would work, but alas, dr's orders say no can go.

Personally, I've "done Disney" while pg, and also with an 8 month-old, or toddlers, or now ages 8,7,and 3... it was easier pg! I have traveled at various stages of my 3 pgs. Second trimester is definitely best. I once went to a big conference in New Orleans while 7 mos pg with #3. That was a weird pg anyway (my dd only liked spicy stuff and seafood... anything else and she'd set me off to Yackola Land... and before that pg I HATED fish, so go figure). So imagine the FEASTING I did in a city like New Orleans! Ohhhh yummmmm... However... the downside is that the conference (like WDW) meant lots and lots of walking. I would come back to the hotel and put my feet/legs on elevated pillows and moan and think about what an idiot I was! (But then I'd go eat some gumbo and those thoughts went bye-bye real fast!) :) I was always ravenous at 2nd trimester... I can't think of a better place to relax (and chow down) than all the wonderful places in WDW!

So sit on it for a little while and see how the pg progresses... and congratulations!
