A big issue with RPR's housekeeping

If you've read the other post I'm sure you realize I am not a fan of housekeeping at this resort but I thought this was worth mentioning.

One afternoon my sister in law, 15 month old and I returned to the resort for the baby to take a nap. I went to my room and they to theirs. She and the baby were laying down taking a nap when a noise woke her up. She said someone had a card in the door trying to open it. She assumed it was her husband and went to the door and was about to look the peephole when the door opened and smacked her in the head. Let me say now it WAS NOT her husband.

Housekeeping was letting someone into her room!

The people had told housekeeping they were having trouble with their key and would they let them in. Without checking or anything she was letting them in!!!!! They told my sister in law they had just checked in and muct have had the wrong room. This may have well been the case but when I checked in they wrote the room number on the folder that contained the cards; maybe this wasn't done for them. But honestly why would housekeeping be so careless not to check first.

After that my sister in law used the extra lock which was annoying when our party split up and my brother would try to get into the room when they were napping..

Sorry for ranting but we just had very poor interaction with housekeeping during our stay.

that is simply horrendous. there is no excuse for a hotel to allow its employees to do that. i mean, they could have very well been a perfectly harmless, best-intentioned couple who simply made a mistake, but what if they weren't? and i am sure the maid just thought she was being helpful and didn't want to give them a hard time because maybe they looked harmless, but that is why it is imperative that the hotel and chain have a policy that doesn't allow opening doors for unconfirmed individuals. i sure hope that your sister-in-law made a formal complaint. that is certainly something you want to make sure doesn't happen again.

Wow, SnowWitch, when I read your reply to my post I thought you were referring to bad housekeeping like throwing the covers and pillows on a sticky floor or rehanging used towels, both of which I have seen done in hotels/motels. But this shocked me even more! For a premium "resort" hotel one would expect a lot higher standards. At a minimum guests should feel safe!

I know that was bad, We were watching Murder she wrote yesterday and that samething had happened. (of corse there was a dead woman inside) And we both looked at each other and could not believe that a maid would do such a thing as to let a stranger in the room. We both thought that it was only TV. Well I guess it is not. I will have to say that of all the high end hotels that we have stayed in the RPH has the best turndown maid for the 7th floor in tower 1 of any hotel. I was such a treat to find the pillows and sheet in a sort of sea shell or flower type arrangment. And the little gifts and prizes that she left for us were very nice. She also fill the ice bucket.
