A , <ahem>, few words on the Swan/Dolphin.

Great review - and my sentiments exactly!!! I didn't think I'd ever stay at the Swan/Dolphin, but we got the government employee discount last summer and couldn't pass it up!! We LOVED our stay at the Swan!! Great Location - Great Room - Great Service!!!

Can you get into the park on EE days? I have the Swan and Dolphin on a short list for my next trip and at these prices I can afford 2 rooms.

This was great stuff! We were all set to stay at the Dolphin with the teacher rate until Disney came out with codes for Christmas. I couldn't pass up savannah view at AKL for $176/nt, but the Dolphin will be an option for us for future trips, that's for certain!

Can I just say.................WOW!!!!!!!!!!

Any recent bestsellers you've written;)

Have you posted any restaurant reviews, would love to read those!!!

I really enjoyed reading your post. Maybe I'll have to print it so my sister can read it. She said that we can't stay there, prefers the moderates, but as a nurse the $129 rate sounds good. I have never stayed in that area, but would like to try it.:D

As others have mentioned, your NY Times best selling and DIS-Pulitzer prize winning post was a pleasure to read. Yes, it was long, and I enjoyed every word and looked forward to each new paragraph. The Swan/Dolphin must be filled to capacity with reformed "Disney snobs". I am confident you have converted many more!:teeth: Thank you for sharing.

Just curious, do you utilize your writing skills in your job? I am thankful you share your creative abilities on the DIS boards.

I use to like the Disney moderates as well...until we got our first taste of the Swan and Dolphin resorts! Now we are hooked!

Tell your sister she should give it a try sometime!

LOL!! I used to feel the same way...I thought I would NEVER stay at those UGLY swan/dolphin hotels!! They're just NOT DISNEY.

DH and I stayed at the Dolphin for our past two trips and LOVED every minute of it!! It is a wonderful , magical resort...absolutely beautiful during Christmas! :) I would stay at the Dolphin again in a second!!

Let me get this straight, you get all the disney benefits (except for room charging privilages) at the s/d! hmmm. My husband is a teacher. Maybe I should be changing those CSR ressies to S/D. How were the views?

The $69 rate in question was probably from an employee or family rate

PS, outstanding report. You are wonderful with words. Once, a couple of years ago I said I didn't think I could ever stay there either. Now the Swan is my resort of choice!

If you can...definitely change your ressie to the Swan or Dolphin!

The view from our balcony at the Swan was of this:

The view from our balcony at the Dolphin looked like this:

We used to feel the same way about the Swan and Dolphin. We thought that they were surreal looking and could never see ourselves staying there. Then a friend told me about the teacher discount . We are now planning our 3rd stay at the Dolphin during the holidays. Great location, service, and rooms! When we are not staying at a DVC and We can get the discount, We would not hesitate to stay there.

Blondie, your pictures were great. What type of room did you have? We called the s/d and got descriptions of all the rooms. I was told that some of the standard rooms over looked the parking lot and MGM. I was also told that the water views could be of??? My husband is interested in the corner king rooom, and of course CL. Let me know and anyone else on the boards that can be of service!

For our stays at the Swan and then the Dolphin, our reservation stated "deluxe non smoking room, step out balcony, resort view with balcony offering view of resort area and crescent lake."

So I guess it was a deluxe balcony room?

Both rooms had two beds.
