Our apt complex is offering a cruise if you renew your lease. I figure we have about a year left in PA, so we're probably going to renew. I called to inquire about it, and the leasing agent told us that the cruise has a value of about 199/pp... for a 5day/4night cruise to the Caribbean or Mexico. What he heck, is it on the SS Minnow?! What kind of cruise do you get for THAT??

We're not going to take the cruise, I'd rather negotiate another "bonus." I just can't imagine what you get for $400 a couple.

I see that kind of bargain often when searching cruises. My guess would either be a western Caribbean or Bahamas cruise. Most likely on Carnival in October or November with an inside cabin.

I agree...it's doable if they found a deal. OP, if you are doing the cruise, just make sure it IS indeed on one of the major cruiselines. Also, remember that you will most likely still be paying your airfare, tips, drinks, shore excursions, etc.

Sounds like a Carnival cruise deal. As PP mentioned--probably to bahamas or Western Carib. We did one once through Carnvial--5n6d -inside for $250 pp (that price included taxes as well). And it was an AMAZING cruise! We loved it!

I think we're definitely going to pass on it. It's an added expense under the guise of being "free." It seems like all the extras really add up, in addition to airfare, etc. I'd rather save that money for Disney! :cloud9: Plus, we have a 3 year old and a newborn, not *ideal* for cruising. Do-able but not ideal.

I had no idea cruises were so inexpensive to book, I'm pretty suprised. I'd only looked into Disney cruises, which are the other end of the spectrum. They look awesome, but boy they seem pricey!

Hopefully I can negotiate $400 off our rent instead, lol.

Thanks for clearing this up for me!

It may also have been a cruise/hotel deal - some lower level (lower than Carnival, even) cruise ships will cruise to Freeport, or wherever in the Bahamas, then you stay overnight at a local hotel. Those ships look scary!

The best deal I've seen lately for a cruise is a 3 night for around $300.

I've never seen a 3night through Carnival for that price! Their 5night average about $279 a person. RCL might have a 4n for that price. $300 for a 3n is high for the average cruise line. But of course, that depends on ship and destination-however-most 3n only go to bahamas!

Yeahhhhh. That's what I was initially thinking. :scared1:

Yeah, it still sounds a little weird. I'm glad I'm not enticed into it, who knows what I could end up with.

I think you should go just for the "adventure" of the unknown...and for our entertainment when you write the trip report when you get back. ;)

You could ask them for a copy of the details in writing. Then read it and see what is actually offered.

Actually, it took me a couple of minutes to find a cruise this length out of Miami to the Bahamas on NCL in an inside cabin for $179. Now, taxes and fees will likely double that fare!
