My mom's 20 year old neighbor came trick or treating by himself yesterday. He had on a Willie Wonka costume and looked great. I guess my question is...how old is too old to trick or treat???

As long as you are wearing a costume, I don't think there is an age limit :)

if willy wonka came to my door i'de make HIM GIVE ME CANDY (and it better be the good stuff-not that waxy nasty chocolate) :rotfl2:

you're never too old! That would be like asking how old is too old to go to Disney!! :)

all of the communitys I have lived in have an age limit of 12 and under for trick or treating...

Yeah, I'm thinking of going trick or treating next year. I'm 43 but what the heck. :rotfl:

Seriously, at what age should trick or treating stop? 11 or 12????? I have no idea but I would guess that's close.

If a 20 year old is out trick or treating there is something seriously wrong with the kid.

I gave an adult Spongebob candy last night. Of course, he was there with his kids and was kind of surprised that I offered, but he was happy to take it!

If he had on a cool costume like Willy Wonka, I'd probalby give him candy. Odd that he was by himself though.

He looked cool and he said trick or treat and had a bag. It was just weird. Maybe he was taking his character a little too seriously. Oh well, he got fruit snacks just like everyone else. Ya' gotta love Halloween!!

Speaking of Willy Wonka, I just HAVE to share this pic I got of two of DH's friends last night.

The Oompah Loompah was a groomsman in my wedding. I have a feeling this picture will be used for blackmail for a long, long time. :rotfl: :rotfl:

I wouldn't let my kids go out once they got into high school. I thought that was too old.

OK, I'll be the odd man out and say that I'd get a little case of the skeeves from a 20 yr. old man coming to my door asking for candy. I'd certainly give it to him (as long as he says Trick or Treat!), but it's a thing that would make me go, "Hmmmmmmmm....." :scratchin

I had an adult at my house last night too, but he came around with a group of kids and his "bag" was actually a carved pumpkin. He was dressed up in a military uniform.

I used to say kids should stop when they reach high school. But now, DS14 is a freshman. His younger sisters were Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse and he was Goofy - they looked so adorable - his taller height made the mice look all the more authentic. I don't think anyone in the neighborhood minded giving him candy.

One year, these two Mexican (non-English speaking) ladies came to the door. They must have been 40 years old. No costumes. They just held out a plastic bag for candy.

It's one thing if they are with their children and dress up to go out with them. I live in a city and when I was home alone last night before DH came home from working late; I did not open my door to adult only trick or treaters - they give me the creeps.

I would think it is weird to have a 20 yr old go trick or treating, especially alone. But if they were in costume and polite then I wouldn't mind. In my neighborhood there are some really nasty kids of all ages. A lot don't even bother to dress up at all (and a football jersy and jeans is not a costume). Or they just stick their bag and in my face and not say a word. So as long as they said trick or treat and thank you, they would get treats too.

Well, my 36 yr. old Dh dresses up and brings his own trick or treat basket when we take the kids trick or treating, so........
