WWYD? I've been feeding her Tylenol & Motrin alternately like candy. She doesn't seem to have any other symptoms. No fever, stuffy nose. At first I thought maybe a sinus infection. I'm not sure.

DH thinks it's silly to go to the doctor for a headache. But is it normal for a little kid to have a headache for 2 days? I don't think so!

She says on the pain scale 1-10, the pain has been between 6 & 8. I think that's pretty bad pain.

She says it's throbbing and above her left eye. What would you do?

I would take her in. It's been 2 days. It might be a virus or a migraine. I'd take her in for the peace of mind.
Hope she feels better soon.

Hi, I would personally take he to the Doctor. It is always better to be safe than sorry! We have all been sick the last 1 &1/2 weeks and one of my DD9 symptoms was a headache and she had it a for a few days amd them wham she was really sick with bronchitis. Hope everything turn out good for you all and tell her to feel better!!

Please call your DD's primary care doctor and ask them. Personally, I think a headache lasting two days warrants at least a phone call.

I'd also take her to the doctor.

Has she had her vision checked recently? A change in vision can bring on headaches.

I hope she feels better soon.

Call the doctor. A young neighbor had a similar problem and it turned out to be more than a headache. He had some infection in the bone behind his eye somehow.

It is better to be on the safe side and have the doctor look at it.

It could very well be sinus triggered and nothing serious, but based on the severity and the fact it's been 2days with no relief, I would say get to the Dr

I'd also call and/or see the doctor... has she been drinking enough? My son very easily dehydrates (for some strange reason) & then WAM longstanding headache for a day....

I had migraines at that age. It can't hurt to talk with your doc about it.

could be sinuses or maybe even eye strain. Please take her to the Dr.

Could be migraines. Does she ever wear hats/hair placeholders that are tight around her head? That can lead to migraines in children.

I called the dr. They're seeing her at 1:00 today. Thanks everyone for backing me up. Sometimes DH tends to "pooh pooh" these things. He thinks I over-react to stuff. (who? me?! ~ NEVER!)

I get severe migraines, so I hope she's not starting already! She woke up with this yesterday so it shouldn't be related to wearing a headband cause she hasn't worn one in weeks.

Hopefully it's just sinus.
Thanks again everyone!

Haven't read all the posts yet, but I would take first to her regular Dr, if he/she can't find anything suggest if her eyes maybe the problem. She maybe needing her eyes checked. I use to get headaches all the time, not at 10, but in my teens, and after getting eyes checked and glasses rarely had any, till I hit adult hood and the stresses of life

Everyone in the Chicago area is having sinus issues right now. Hopefully it is no more than that. :grouphug:

I second getting her eyes checked and check for allergies. Those 2 are big triggers for my son (11 years). I also had a cousin who started getting migraines in elementary school (don't remember his exact age). I'm glad you are taking her to your regular doctor, I'm sure they'll be able to point something out.

Good for getting it checked out. Is this the daughter with the lazy eye? You might want to have her eyedoctor's # in the back of your mind, just in case it's vision related.

I haven't read thru the thread, I just thought I would tell you about something that happened last year at my DD's school.

The Monday after Spring Break the students all brought letters home abut a 4th grader who had passed away over the holiday. She had a brain tumor no one knew about - not even her family. She was a close friend of my neighbor's and the time line went like this.... she started complaing of a headache about mid week, the headache got worse and by Friday night they were in the E.R.. They discovered the tumor sometime Saturday and she was gone by Sunday. She had not complained about headaches before that week, at least not anything that would have made them suspect something so devastating.

It really shook us up and still really scares me that something like this can happen so quickly. This probably is not the case for your DD, I'm sure she will be fine, but it is something that really makes you think.

Could be allergies - could be the goofy weather changes we've been having - I know I was SERIOUSLY messed up a few days ago, from the weather changes...

OR - could be like my 11 y/o who had a pretty bad headache for a couple days. Enough where he kept asking for advil as they'd wear out, and then *POOF* he's home with the chicken pox this week - along with a few other class members. :confused3

My DS9 had a headache over the weekend and tested positive for strep yesterday (as did DD9 who had a GI bug - go figure!). :confused3

I had meningitis , it was just a really REALLY bad headache that wouldnt go away, got worse when I moved my head.

Was in the hospital for about a week. I had no clue what it was, till I got out and read that people/children had died from it. It was a while ago - I lived in Mass and there seemed to be a small "outbreak" of menigitis cases.

I remember my mother telling me to stop being such a baby, and at her frustration point ( and thinking I would back down) said "Fine - if its so bad...lets go to the hospital"

I said lets go!

She wasn't asking me to tough it out when they did the spinal tap in the ER.
