Logged in at bang on 8am this morning having deliberately got to work a little early to do it, and to my joy not one other person had booked a seat yet! So clicked the seats i wanted up in the bubble on VA, hit submit, and was told i couldn't reserve those seats. when the map refreshed it showed two complete rows were now unavailable

Own up DISers, who took my seats? VS015 on the 14th of October 79 & 80 HJK :lmao:

Requested 79 AB instead :goodvibes

It wasn't me but that really made me laugh, probably because it would have been DISers!!! :rotfl:

It wasn't me! My flight is four days after you.... :rotfl2:

You've saved me a phone call to Virgin though - I wondered what time the site went live to book seats online and I guess it's 8am!

Any hints or tips on navigating the website quickly?

Nor me, we don't fly until the 25th.

Nina, the seat map usually opens up from the day before (the 90 days) but you can't physically reserve the seats until 8am (90 days before).

That would have wound me up! We got seats in the bubble too for our flight in September. I think it may be row 80, the row at the very back of the bubble by the stairs. I know they're just seats, but I am so excited about them...

We also have seats in the bubble by the stairs for our September 20 th flight. Tomorrow need to book return.

had to look it up to see what the "bubble" was....

does is cost more for these seats then?

No, before the VA planes were refurbished, only PE seats were in the bubble. Now it is Economy and Upper. It is quieter up there and the service, we found, is slightly better because there are less people. However, conversely, there is less space in the overhead lockers and you do have to watch all the delicious-looking food being taken past you to the Upper Class passengers :rotfl:

Know what seats you want before 8 am! You can hit up seat guru and get the layouts from there. Out of LGW VA fly the 747-400 in LGW config. Just remember that every bulkhead and exit row can't be requested online as they're held for those paying for extra legroom or families needing skycots etc.

Once you've accessed your seating map on VA by using the link under the flight details "Where's my seats?" don't spend time pondering like I did this morning! Know which seats you want and have a backup two or three options, just click on the seats you want till everyone in your party is allocated and hit submit.

Is it only VA that allows you to reserve seats 90 days in advance? We are with British Airways. Our last flight was horrible because we had to split up, which for me was incredibly intimidating, lol.

If only we could afford upper class! We peeked in the upper class cabin in American Airlines and were not impressed... It didn't look great. Virgin on the other hand... Wow.

So how and at what point can people request these seats then?

The seating request system opens up at 8am on the 90-days-before-your-flight mark. Just log in to your booking as normal and underneath the flight details it shows "Seat map unavailable" until day 90, at which point you can request specific seats. :thumbsup2

So glad i saw this thread as i completely forgot that i could request seats, couldn't get the bubble on the way out plane looks pretty busy (25th Sep) but got it on the return journey :cheer2: never been up there before.
