DD is on antibiotics now. Somebody please tell me that she’ll be over it before too long!

I don’t want this to sound like I’m more worried about the vacation than DD, but she’s acting fine – she has a low-grade temperature and a wet cough, but she’s acting like herself. I just want her to be able to enjoy Disney. We’ve been planning since September 2006 and now it’s finally getting closer, and now poor DD gets sick.

I had walking pnuemonia a couple of years ago 3 times in 3 months.

The only advice I can give is to not go commando. She may look fine and act fine but she will wear out really easy. Try to sneak in a nap. Try to relax a bit. I'm sure she'll be fine but you don't want it coming back after you return.

Have a great time:wizard:

We're going to bring our nebuilizer in case she needs breathing treatments while we're there, but I do hope we can kick this thing before we go.

I had walking pneumonia a few years ago, not pleasant. I agree with Kimmum that you may need to take it easier for her sake. I would expect her to be mostly better, but expect her stamina to take a hit. You may need to enforce some rest time to make sure she doesn't overdo it and risk a relapse. Thankfully, kids are resilient so I'm sure you'll still have a great time. :thumbsup2

I also have had it. I agree with others, I felt much better after going through the antibiotic regimine but was tired for weeks afterwards. Take it slow and easy for her!

My DD had it earlier this year, she's 4. Her only symptom was a cough and fever, other than that she seemed fine, not tired, no cold-like symptoms. She got a breathing treatment and went on antibiotics and was literally back to her old self in 2 days. I think little ones really bounce back quick.

Just make sure you finish the course of antibiotice completely. Have a great trip!

That sounds exactly like DD. We almost didn't even take her to the doctor because other than the persistent low-grade fever and raspy cough, she didn't even act sick at all. But I wanted it looked at just in case with our trip coming up.

We'll definitely take it easy and go at her speed. We'll have a stroller for her in case she gets worn out and we'll go back to the hotel when we need to.
