This is my first trip report (well, pretrip report.)
Cast of characters:
Me: 33, work-out-of-the-home Mom, been to Disney only on Youth group trips until last year when my MIL treated us to a week at POR. I like to research things on the Internet, I like to plan, and I like to shop. So, yeah, total DIS addict.
DH: 35, hardworking Dad who went to Disney World several times as a kid and teen. Finds my planning to often be, in HIS opinion, little more than an excuse... to shop. He is wrong, of course. (OF COURSE.)
DD: 4, and she is excited about her second trip to the World. We watch the Disneyland Singalong on the DVD player every evening during the commute and we can RECITE the Walt Disney World Resort: Behind the Scenes which we TIVOd in December. She has given the ghosties from Haunted Mansions NICKNAMES solely based on seeing that show so many times. One of them is named The Bagawacka. She is extremely excited to be going to visit him. She is also one of the little DIS children to have shorn her hair in an unfortunate style (well, her cousin did it) recently. She is a little concerned Cinderella won't like it. I have assured her that she has nothing to worry about.
OK, with 9 days to go...
OF COURSE I went shopping on my lunch today! Got a three pack of retractable Sharpies for autographing and some awesome deals on Land's End summer clearance. I have lost 65 pounds since last May (May 2005) and even since the spring this year have gone down a size, so I needed some new shorts. I was most thrilled to score some cute ones for $6/ pair!
But seriously-- this is what we will be doing this weekend to prepare (we already have our travel documents from AAA and I confirmed our ADRs last week):
Printing out the packing list from Mousesavers and personalizing it to meet our needs.
Then going to Target / WalMart to fill in the gaps including some more Rubbermaid boxes for packing liquids
Trying on the clothes we want to pack and making sure everything is washed and ironed
Fine tuning our ADR spreadsheet
making a mix CD from blubster with my daughter's "greatest hits" to listen to while traveling
I shall report on our progress through the weekend. I will try to post our ADR spreadsheet, too.
