We headed off to Hollywood Studios. The previous day when we'd blown off the House of Blues ADR, I wasn't sure what to do about needing another ADR and we decided to see if we could get an ADR at 50s Prime Time for lunch today. We already had an ADR at SciFi for dinner, but I thought if we got an early enough lunch it would be okay to have the two ADRs in one day. I was able to get one for 11:15, so this was perfect for us. I have to say I love the the new Disney Experience app, it was so easy to book the ADR through it.
We've been to 50s PT several times and I find that I either really enjoy myself there or find that the service is extremely slow and that it's too noisy and chaotic and I don't like it. This meal was one of the good ones. In fact, it was probably the best meal we've had there and a lot of that had to do with our server Donna who was fabulous. Not only did she really get into character, she was just super nice. This was also the first time B could order off of the adult menu and he was very excited about that. I got my regular meal here, the pot roast. It was really good, the meat was very tender, the veggies were perfect, the mash potatoes were yummy. B got the fried chicken with fries. They give you so much chicken, it was a half of a chicken, a breast, thigh, leg and wing. B loved, loved, loved it. He didn't touch the fries, but he went to town on that chicken.
While we were eating Donna had chastised me a couple of times for putting my elbows on the table. She had told us that if we got 3 strikes we'd have to stand in the corner and everyone would say "shame, shame, shame". To help me to remember to not put my elbows on the table, she came and put ketchup Mickey's in the corners of the table. B was doubling over with laughter at this. The family at the table next to us appeared to be first-timers at 50s PT and didn't seem to quite know what to make of this and seemed apprehensive at what Donna might do to them, lol.
For dessert, B ordered Dad's brownie sundae and I got the Boston Cream parfait. I usually get the sundae or the smores but Donna recommended the parfait saying it was her favorite, and she was right, it was really, really good. B was only able to manage a couple of bites of his sundae, but enjoyed it. It was funny though, to look at his sundae, it was hard to see that there was actually any ice cream under there.
Overall, I really enjoyed this meal. It was good food, good interaction with our server, and we seemed to be in a good location where it wasn't too chaotic and we weren't there for 2 hours like we've been during a previous meal. As far as B was concerned, this was his favorite meal of the whole trip. He was in love with the fried chicken and he thought Donna was great. I'd give the meal an A+, and B gave it an A+++++.
