June 15th
Typhoon Lagoon {again} Pirates and Liberty Tree Tavern
We wakeup on our last full day and realize it is almost over!!! How did the time fly so quickly?
I am up and watching the sunrise before anyone else stirs!!!
I have loved my morning sabbaticals!!! I will truly miss this place!!!
I get back to the rooms and everyone is waking up. No problem getting everyone ready to go this morning and we are at the bus stop by 7:30 am!!!!
We are all excited about TL, we had such fun the first time around!!!
We get to the gate and again we are not first in line but pretty close to it!!!
We stake out our base in the same spot as the first time. Right in front of the wave pool!! They are giving surfing lessons and we watch for a short time then off to the family raft slide!! We all really enjoy this one again!!!
Now we did not bring the digital cameras to any of the water parks so I don’t have very many pictures. We had 4 of the water cameras and we only have a few pictures left so we save them for the Shark Reef.
Next up the sharks again!!! I dearly love this!!! We still cannot convince the kids to do it so they watch as the 3 adults take the journey!!!
Into the 64 degree water, again no problem and to this day I don’t remember it being cold!!!
I take my time and adjust my mask so no water gets in this time. Ok old girl breath thru your mouth!!! I am amazed that I can do this!!!
I bear to the right this time because there are more fish to see!!! Beautiful fish and down on the bottom is a huge shark!!! It is about 4 ft long!!! Out of the corner of my eye I see a manta ray!!! This is sooooo Cool!!! I take pictures but none of them turn out!!!
I continue on and make it to the end!! Again it is a struggle to get out but I do make it!!! DS1 and DDI are right behind me!!!
“Let’s go again” !!! There is no line so around we go again!!! The three of us tell the kids to watch from the bridge again and this will be our last time.
In we go!!! If you have never done this and are wanting a new experience, I highly recommend The Shark Reef!!!!!!
I did get 2 pictures and neither one is very good but I will share them anyway!!!
Some fish.
And DS2
We had a blast doing this!!!!
Now off to the water slides. We hit all of them. I did not do Humunga Kowabunga or Crush n Gusher. Everyone else did but me and DGS2!!!
The stairs to the slides are nothing like the ones at BB and I can enjoy the rides!!!
Next is the Wave Pool and everyone dearly loves this even me!!! We wade out and catch a few waves and all at once whistles start blowing and everything shuts down!!! The lifeguards are all yelling and some kid at the top on the side of the pool, climbed over the rails and was walking toward the drop off!!! It was mayhem for the CM’s!!! It kinda scared us for a moment! Then the kid, about 9 or 10 yrs old, realized all the yelling was at him and he climbed back over the rails.
This had caused them to turn off the waves and we are all patiently waiting for them to start up again. The lifeguards start everyone chanting, We Want Waves, over and over until they started up again. This was a lot of fun!!!
We got one small wave and then one good wave and then some really small waves. At this point we decided it was time for lunch!!!!
Typhoon Tilly’s and BBQ sandwiches for most of us and a wrap for DDI. It was really good!!! For dessert we had Mickey ice cream sandwiches!!!! Yummy!!! I guess all that water makes everything taste soooooo good!!!!
We are finished with our meal and DGD says “Grandma I scraped my toe in the wave pool.” She shows it to me and her mother, and we both about faint!!!! The skin on the end of her big toe is now a big flap!!!! We did not know it was that bad!!! DDI and DGS2 go with her to first aid. DGS2 has developed a rash on his legs and some on his cheek!!!
First aid cleans the toe and bandages it for her and they put ointment on DGS2’s rash. They tell DDI that they see both of these everyday. The rash is something many people develop at the World!!! Anyway they both feel a lot better and we make it to the bus stop and head for CSR.
A tip: get water shoes!!!!
Another really good day at Typhoon Lagoon!!! We all think this is the best of the 2 waterparks!!
We get showered and changed and head out for our last tour of Magic Kingdom!!!
The bus service from CSR is extremely good!!!
We get to the front gate and make our way in! I love the train station!!!
We are sad but happy at the same time, walking down Main Street!!
On down Main Street and we take a left at Casey’s Corner where we stop and listen to the piano player!!! He was wonderful!!!
At this point the bandage came off of DGD toe and we have to find first aid again. As luck would have it there is one between Casey’s and Crystal Palace. I tried to take a picture of the toe but DGD did not want it in the scrapbook!!!! I know I am shameless!!!!
First aid gets a new bandage on the toe and we are off again!
Isn’t that cute!!!! Right in front of Crystal Palace we see a mommy duck and her duckling!!!
Our quest right now is to see the Pirates Tutorial so on around to Adventureland we go!!!
I spot a CM in front of Pirates and ask when the next show is. We have about 10 mins. There are just a few people waiting with us so we know we can get right up front!
Out comes Mac the pirate and he starts pulling the cart over to set up the show!
He lays down the rope and we are right in front!!!! The crowd is building behind us!!!
Mac starts his dialog!
Out of nowhere comes Captain Jack Sparrow!!!
The banter between Captain Jack and Mac is really funny and we are all amazed at how close this is to the real thing!!! The mannerisms are right on!!!! The voice is perfect too!!! I don’t think they could have gotten much closer to Johnny Depp unless he was there himself!!!
The crowd keeps building and we have someone behind DDI that keeps trying to push her son in front of us. Now this would have been fine if this was a little kid but he was a teenager taller than all of us!!!! Finally DDI turns and tells them, NO!!! She had to do this several times too!! This was the only time we had to deal with anyone rude!!!
Now back to the show….Captain Jack starts picking out the 5 kids to teach them to sword fight!!
I will take you and you and you!!!
Alas!!! DGS2 is not picked to sword fight. He is disappointed but he is a trooper!!!
Captain Jack picks older kids for this just for your info!!!!
The sword fights are really cute to watch too!!!
Ok now the Captain starts to pick out kids to become pirates!!! Around the circle he goes and he is right in front of us!!! Isn’t he just so delish!!!! (I know, but grandmas can dream too!}
DGS2 is waving his arms and jumping up and down!!!! Captain Jack points right at him and off he goes!!!!! Yeah!!!!!
The kids repeat the oath as the Captain gives it to them and they are pronounced honorary pirates!!!! DGS2 is in the yellow shirt!!
They are all given certificates, and they are very nice too.
DGS2 is very happy that he got to participate!!!!
Captain Jack and Mac end the show singing A Pirates Life For Me. In a wink Captain Jack Sparrow has disappeared!!!!
A lot of people had autograph books and cameras out and they were disappointed!!! I know that he does not give autographs so we were not expecting it.
This was a really cute show and you should try and see it!!!!
From here we head to Tom Sawyers Island as we have never done this before either! The kids enjoy going thru all of the caves and we make it all the way to the fort. This was a good break after standing in the sun for the pirates!
We make it back across the water and we all need a drink so DS2 goes to get us some water while we retrieve the stroller. Now I know a lot of people will say a six year old is too old for a stroller!! I totally disagree!!!! And this is why!!!
He stayed asleep for about 45 mins. and was in a great mood the rest of the day!!!! He never knew that he had his picture taken!!!
We still have time before dinner at Liberty Tree Tavern so we shop a little and ride a little. I can’t remember exactly what we rode but I do know that we did Pirates, Buzz, The Jungle Cruise and TTA. There were others but my mind is a little fuzzy!!!!
After Jungle Cruise it is time for dinner!!
It has become a family tradition to have our last dinner at Liberty Tree Tavern and we all look forward to this meal. It did not disappoint!!!
DGS2 loves the mac and cheese!!
And I love it all!!
The characters come around more than once!!! Here is Minnie!
We were never rushed and took our time with this meal. I like that it is served family style and everyone has to pass the food around!!! This was a good time to talk about everything we had done in all the parks!!!
We head out to ride Pirates again during the parade and then make our way to Tomarrowland to get a spot for Wishes! Yes you can do this if you know how!!!
We decide to watch from the bridge knowing that Tinkerbell will fly right over us!!!
We have about 200 glow sticks with us and the kids start giving them out to everyone they see!!! They always love doing this!! It does not take long to give them all away.
The lights dim and it is time for the fireworks!!!! Tinkerbell flys right over us!!! “Is that a man?” they all say!!!! Yes this is way too close!!!! You can see the expression on his face!!!! Take my advice and watch this part with more distance between you and Tinkerbell because this can take away some of the magic for the younger set!!!!!
The rest of the show was fabulous!!!! This was the way to end our day and our trip!!!
The lights come back up and we are in the middle of the herd!!!! We make our way to Main Street and duck into one of the shops! We slowly make our way thru all the shops, not because it was crowded but because I still had some money left and had to get rid of it!!!!!
We make it to the bus stop and this time a bus is just leaving and we are first in line for the next one!!!
We make it back to CSR and off to bed.
Next up Breakfast at Ohana’s, The monorail our flight home.
Have a magical day
