Alright..as promised here's our day #1 trip report from our magical 9 day stay at WDW......(they all won't be this long)
Day#1- Started out at 3am!!! We had to be at the airport by 5am for our 7am flight. Being that my husband and I had never actually done this by ourself before (the whole parking at the airport thing etc...We usually had someone drop us off right there at the check in) we wanted to make sure to give ourselves plenty of time. We woke DS up right before we left just to get him dressed...he went back to sleep. The flight..a direct from B'ham to Orlando via Delta was smooth sailing. THANK YOU so much for those who suggested SEABANDS. I HIGHLY reccommend them. I usually get very very motion sick on planes...but I put those cuffs on and felt no nausea. *YIPPEE* Once our plane landed it was off to baggage claim. Our STAR TRANSPORTATION TOWNCAR driver was no where to be found. Don't worry...It really wasn't his fault. Our plane was about 15 mins early landing. So we hung around baggage claim for about 5 mins or less and our driver came bounding out of the elevator VERY apologetic about being "late". He was very gracious helping with our way too much luggage. The only complaint I have about our driver was he made me put the car seat in . (which Star transportation provided) I didn't mind doing it..but must admit it felt a little weird. We had a very pleasant drive. Our driver didn't chat much..but that was ok. My husband and I were busy chatting about what we were going to do first and getting DS ready to see "Kickey Mouse" (as he says..he's 2 yrs old remember
) On arrival to POFQ we were greeted immediately by a VERY nice lady that graciously helped us unload our luggage and check our luggage into the holding area. (it was only 10 am..so our room would not be ready) She instructed us to go inside and check in. Upon entering the lobby it was just as I remembered. I LOVE POFQ. Scat Cats was over to the left along with the Sassagoula Floatworks and food factory. We went over and checked in at the front desk. After checking in we went to "Jackson Square" to pick up a autograph book and a pen for DS. The gift shop was very nice! Lot's of variety of merchandise. The Cast members were awesome. We then boarded the first bus we could to the Magic Kingdom!!!! *YIPPEE* My DS was amazed at everything once we entered MK. His face was priceless. He started say "What's that" to every thing!! (incidently..this is the first time we had ever heard him say that) Upon arrival to the MK (it was around 10:45 am and we were STARVING since we had been up since 3am) We rushed over to my DH FAVORITE place to eat..CASEY'S CORNER. The hotdogs there are WONDERFUL. Of course DS didn't eat at this time..but we were not suprised. We then went into Fantasy land and rode Cindy's carosel. Yeah sure..it's your standard carosel...but it was still special. From there it was over to dumbo and then over to "sir Mickey's" (right next to Snow whites scary adventure) for my DS first pair of Mickey ears. Of course he wore them for all of 2 mins. (long enough for pictures) We then headed over to Liberty Square to ride The Haunted Mansion. I thought DS might be a little scared..but he wasn't. The Haunted Mansion was as great as ever. Middle of the day and only about a 5 min wait. I was really hoping to run into some characters to see how DS reacted to them before we left for dinner..but no such luck. So we jetted out early and caught a monorail to the Contemporary Resort to our 5pm PS at Chef Mickeys. I must admit I was worried about this dinner. #1 DS had not encountered the characters..what if he freaks out? #2 I had heard TONS of bad reviews about the place..what if the food is gross??? We got there at about 4:30...received a little "beeper" thingie and had our family photo taken. (Wasn't prepared for that one!!!) We shopped around a bit and our beeper thingie went off right around 5pm. We headed back to Chef MIckey's and was greeted by our WONDERFUL waitress who immediately took another family photo of us with our camera. She was very imformative about the characters and told us to ease our DS into them to see how he would react. The characters started coming out before we made it to the buffett...so we decided to check them out first before eating. Donald was outside at the buffet so we went to him first. My DH walked slowly up to Donald with DS in arms... good thing he had a hold of him because DS practically JUMPED out of his arms to get to Donald. HE LOVED THE CHARACTERS!!! ALL of them. We saw Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Chip and dale, and goofy that night. There were tons of interaction between the characters and the kids. it was GREAT! A BIG highlight to our vacation on the very first day. The food was also WONDERFUL!!!! The best Chicken fingers in all of WDW!!! After a much too stuffing dinner we headed back to POFQ to find we were in room 5226. OMG..this is a great room. It's a corner room with a wonderful view of the river...but still close to the lobby and buses. We called Bell services and our luggage was up within 10 mins and we showered and rested our heads on our UNBELIEVABLY comfortable King size bed...and dreamed of the next day at Animal Kingdom.............Day #2 to come soon..don't worry...they all wont' be this long.
