I was thinking it was a perfect time for DH and I to stop in for dessert to watch the fireworks.... Would it be frowned upon if a res was taken just for that?

You can order whatever you wish. DH and I often do an appetizer and a dessert. We always tell the host when we check in, as well as the server of our intention. We also tip as if we had a modest meal.

Don't plan on being seated before Wishes is over. At 9:40, anyone who is still in the restaurant will be hanging on to their table for the exact same reason that you want it.

If you have not been seated, once you have checked in, you are free to go outside to the deck or the sidewalk area to watch. Have a great time!
