Well, this long awaited trip report begins here... Post #1.

Today is September 20, 2007. Yesterday, the trip became real as the Cruise Documents have arrived!!!!! Cue the trumpets... Ugh, ok, so there are no trumpets...

So, I promised myself, in the proud and strong tradition of other terrific Trip Reports, I will submit one myself. I'll try and keep things brief, but come on, we all love reading about first seeing thre ships from the Beach Line, the Sailaway Party, Pirate Night, etc... So, I will try and be descriptive, illustrative and fun!! After all, vacation is alllll about fun!

Here's the cast:
Tom, me, your author and big-time Disney enthusiast... I'm the pragmatic, careful, overthinking one...
Molly, DGF, possible reader and very occasional Disney enthusiast... She's creative, adventurous and perceptive...

We make a great travel team!!!!

So, this will be the third trip on the Disney Cruise Line for the two of us. We've previously taken 4-Night Cruises on the Disney Wonder and wanted to take a longer adventure. We haven't had a REAL vacation since our last DCL journey in June 2006.

Here is our itinerary...
Friday, September 28 - Leave NYC. 1 night at The Villas at Disney's Wilderness Lodge
Saturday, September 29 - Magic Time Baby!
Saturday, October 6 - Disney's Saratoga Springs...
Monday, October 8 - Sadly return to New York

So, sounds fun, right? Oh I am certain it will be excellent!!! We're looking forward to enjoying a nice length of time at sea, some very cold and very yummy drinks and meeting some new people!

Thanks for reading and I hope I can entertain you enough to make you want more... We plan on making this one of the best trips of our lives and we are really looking forward to it... Now if I can only find a way to get work over with faster!

Stay tuned!!!!!!!

Ooo!! This should be fun, especially since we're sailing together!
:surfweb:

subscribing to discourage you from writing anything incriminating . . . :scared1:

only 5 more days until we board!

Incriminating??? No way... I hate partying... Nothing crazy will happen on this trip!

Looking forward to hearing all about it too
will you be doing a live update or when you get back

I'm just saying that... Jeez!!!!! I'm not going to be live blogging... I'll be cradfting a very detailed report... The names may change to protect the guilty but it will be detailed!!!!

Just kidding - I am super boring and angelic at all times. And I'm sure the same can be said of JDBlair. :thumbsup2

Yeap, those are always the words used to describe me - "boring" and "angelic"! :rolleyes1

Pre-Trip: Thursday, September 27, 2008

So, here we are, back and here comes the report.

So, Thursday before the trip, we both worked and happily said goodbye to our co-workers... Headed home, with nothing packed yet, nothing even picked out... Had dinner, watched the Season Premiere of The Office and then at 10 PM, it was time to start packing...

Soooo, up come all our bags, out come the planning ears... What to bring, what to bring?? Eh, throw these shorts, pants, shirts, et. into the suitcases... No problem... So, what time is it now??? 1 AM!!! Holy crap!!! I guess it might be a good idea to get a few hours of sleep...

Funny thing is the dog thinks he's coming too... Hmm, when should we tell him??

Friday, September 28, 2007, Part 1 - Flying to Florida

Good morning!!!! It's 7AM... THE DAY HAS FINALLY ARRIVED!!!!! I feel so alive... No more work!!!! VACATION IS HERE!!!!!

We got up and very quickly got our last second things together... A little tired but thrilled and ready to go...

Here is the sad moment... We had to say goodbye to our little Yorkshire Terrier as we left him with my mom. We kissed him goodbye and left for the airport. My dad was nice enough to give me and my DGF a ride to catch the AirTrain to JFK. If you live in the NYC area and can get to Jamaica or Howard Beach to take the AirTrain to JFK, I say DO IT! It's only $5 and it save a lot of pain...

We arrive at JFK around 9 AM to the JetBlue Terminal. We love JetBlue for its customer service and, of course DirecTV and XM Satellite Radio... We checked in (east as pie) and went through 'security'... Why the quotes? If you travel through any NY airports, you know why...

We headed to the Dunkin Donuts stand and got some breakfast as we were pretty hungry... We boarded and left on time, 10:40AM... The flight was nice and calm, no angry skies or turbulence... We landed in Orlando around 1:00 PM and got our luggage Mega Quickly... I headed down to the Budget Rent a Car desk and 'ding ding' what car did we get???? Well, Jim, it's a Chrysler PT Cruiser... Interesting vehicle... Not a bad ride. So we got our car and headed out of MCO...

To be continued...
