Just thought I'd share my fun Disney evening.
Up on the rooftop
I have been sick the last week and have had cabin-fever. DH and I went out for a quick, impromptu outing tonight and were in DtD doing some Lego shopping.
We decided to eat at Rainforest Cafe. The hostess told us it would be 45 minutes. DH has to work early in the morning. We were tired. I've been sick. We weren't waiting that long. We were offered the patio for immediate seating. Even though it was still warm out, we decided to take it. Dinner was nice and enjoyable. The waterfall fountain on the patio was wonderful.
When what to our ears did we hear
At about 9:45pm we heard really loud booms. Knowing the DL fireworks don't go off that late (usually), we asked the waiter what the noise was. He said, "Fireworks. They're late." :
Clearly, there was no way to see them from where we were sitting. I made a comment of the sort to DH. The waiter asked if we wanted to see them. He then very kindly showed us to a little spot upstairs where we could see the fireworks. YAY! They were cool. Lots of purples (my fav. color!) and oranges!
We enjoyed them, didn't plan on seeing them, and were tickled by the irony of "settling" for the patio and the treat of seeing the fireworks it rewarded us with ultimately. After the fireworks, we each threw a penny in the fountain/waterfall making a wish on the way out, headed to the car, and called it a night (all under 5 hours, free parking with validation!).
If you get a chance to see the Halloween fireworks, enjoy! They are nice.
And... they aren't good pictures at all, taken with my iphone, from all the way across DtD, and in a hurry but, in case anyone doesn't believe me that there were fireworks tonight:
