LOL I spent many summers at Knoebles! My grandparents live in Lewisburg so when I was up there that was the go to place to take my cousins and myself. I was never a big ride person but my uncle took me on that wooden rollercoaster and scared the heck out of me and then the ferris wheel... well I wont go into it but I don't ride any rides anymore because of that wheel!

On a little side note our family could sure use some prayers, chants, blessings any good thoughts, HC is in the hospital and I figure the more people we have thinking about him the better! He will likely kill me for posting it since he is so private but oh well! :rolleyes1

My thought and prayers are with your family, hoping for a speedy recovery!!

Magical Tink, Lori and gvivanco, thanks, it's so nice to know that there are people thinking about me

As far as food allergies, we have none in our family

Disneymoon, your pictures are great. You and your husband make a beautiful couple.

Kileybeth, looks like you are busy! I think the summer does that to people. We have been crazy busy as well. I have been working on FE gifts and I am almost done them. We have also made the pillow cases for the kids to have signed. We still have to make our FE, which neither of us are looking forward too. We also have to find a time to do it when the kids are not home. We have dentist, eye and three Dr appointments all this week. I have had to get blood work done and go for an EEG as well. I have also been shopping like mad, trying to get everything we need. I have filled two boxes and started on a third and we still have a ton to get including pirate costumes! I keep looking on the internet but the shipping to Canada cost just as much if not more then the costume! I am going shopping in Toronto tomorrow and maybe Friday and then DH wants to go Sat. I hate to say this ( and if anyone tells DH I will deny it ) but I think I am going to be shopped out:scared1: We also did a crazy thing on Tuesday night. I guess it all started when we decided to drive to Florida to SAVE money. We did it last time and it went well, so we thought that this time we would do the same. We then started talking...and looking.... and then one thing lead to another and we bought a brand new car, so much for saving money:rotfl:

Sorry, my settings are really high...if anyone wants to friend me PM me your email adress and I will find you :) SORRY!

What's everyone else keeping busy with to pass the time?

We have done a whole lot of nothing this summer. My school years are so crazy we decided to take it easy for the summer. Today we are going to the final party for the library summer reading program. We are starting school next week, so just going to enjoy as much of nothing as we can this week. :lmao:

I will send you good thoughts for a speedy recovery. :goodvibes

Hi All. Been catching up reading all the latest. The bracelets look wonderful. Thanks so much!!!!

Disneyland was great. I was there with DS girlfriend and her sister and her fiance. Their enthusiasm was contagious. Loved sitting back and watching them interact with the characters at Minnies Breakfast and at Ariels Grotto with the princesses. My DH ran around getting fast passes between Dland and DCA park.

I am ready to pack up my FE gifts. I like the colored duct tape idea as well. How clever.

Holly the pictures look great.
I've been passing the summer by getting the kids school work ready for this fall. I refinished some outside chairs I found at a yard sale, repainted Kyle's room, shampooed the carpets, cleaned out the boys rooms :scared1:, made FE gifts & bagged them, & other fun, exciting stuff.
I can't wait for the cruise!! For those who have cruised before do you know if DH would be able to board the ship in Key West? His work is sending him to Jacksonville from Sept. 8 -19th. Yes, I said the 19th.:scared: He may have to do a flight out of Key West that Saturday. For anyone who's curious, yes I wouldn't hesitate to go w/ out him. We booked this last February, the cruise insurance doesn't cover work problems. DH didn't see the need in paying for the "cancel for any reason policy." I think he's seeing my infinite wisdom now.:rotfl2:

My advice is to call DCL or your TA or both immediately! From all I hear, DCL will work with you.

I am facing nearly this SAME scenario, UGH! We also waited to buy Trip Insurance and it was to late to add cancel for any reason without it being ourtrageous soooo here is our plan. I will pay the fee to change to another person going along with us (several willing parties there, imagine!) or sail alone with the kids and eat the cost of DH ticket or see if he could board in one of the ports if possble if it comes down to it. Our problem is DH is starting a new job sometime. . .but we do not know and will not know a start date until, well, we still don't know!!! :sad2:

As of right now, he's sailing. . .

Best of luck to you! At least you have dates to work with:rolleyes1

we do not have passports, we'll be using our birth certificates.

Whew... :scared: Glad to see we won't be the only ones without passports. I meant to get them for our cruises last year...and then this year....and once again, I still haven't got around to it! Life is just so insane for me right now! :scared1: GOOD...but insane! :)

Thanks. Good luck to you also. I have many volunteers to take his place, problem is we won't know until possibly that Friday. He's a contractor for the military. Anyone who has been or is in the military knows they are great for changing plans at the last minute. I thought we were finally rid of that when he got out. If both end up eating the cost for our DH's we can commiserate w/ a drink of the day together.

Hi, everyone,

I was just reading about some Western Caribbean excursions on cruise critic, and found this excursion for Grand Cayman that sounds excellent. It's called the Grand Cayman Outrage Stingray City Ecotour, through Grand Cayman Excursions. It got rave reviews. It's a private charter that takes you to snorkel with the stingrays, then to a beautiful beach for lunch, tubing off the back of the boat, you can fish if you want to, etc. It sounds really cool. The full day is $500 for 6 people, and I was thinking that's alot for our family of 4 (me and DH, dd6 and dd4). BUT, they can have a maximum of 10 people on board. So I was thinking if there's anyone out there who has a family of 4 or up to 6, we could do this excursion and share the cost. If there's another family of 4 that would like to do this with us, it would be $300 each family. Up to 2 more people could come (so a family of 5 or 6 could do it), but each additional person would be an extra $55. It could also
be a just a couple that could go in with us, and the total cost would be $500, but I would still pay $300 for my portion, so the couple would only have to pay the additional $200 total. (For 6 people the total would be $500)
I don't know if that's confusing......

Anyway, just let me know if anyone might be interested in this. We don't have any plans yet for Grand Cayman, and this looked like a blast. And I like that fact that it's a private charter, just our family and another, not boatloads of people (so to speak!). :lmao:

You can look it up on the website to see more information. Just google cayman outrage ecotour for all the info on it. You can also contact me!

Thanks!

Gretchen

This is sooo funny! Well, in the long run maybe not so much:confused:.

My DH has worked in private industry for the last 25 years and yes, our vacation time has been both liberal and flexible to the extreme. . .

He is currently waiting to start a government job! Now he has already requested and been approved for vacation time the week of the cruise but not having started yet. . .

I did tell my sister if she wants to go, she will probably only have 24 hour notice to prepare!

I've been thinking of you this week. Hope all is well with HC and the hospital stay.

I did not grow up going to Knoebles, I married into it you might say! DH's family is up that way. Giant Wheel= awesome memories over here. I absolutely love being so high up over the whole park and being able to search for our car in the parking field or see the skloosh dropping down to soak everyone! My favorite is at night time though. Last thing we do every trip before we leave the park. My babies have been going on it with us since they were newborns:scared1: It just feels so safe to us:rotfl: Funny how we each have our own memories yes? I did forget the little train up front that cirlces around through the woods to see the squirrel feeders. such a silly thing but one we all look forward to. That and blue birch beer, fried perogies, and tri-tators. I guess 20 plus years is a lot of memories, just half a life time for me though, no childhood ones.

Wow! Lots of you guys are dressing up for pirate night! I can't wait to see you all! At best my clan will have capris/shorts/and piratey t-shirts that night would be my guess right now!

There's another thing I really need to get around to and just do it already!
Picking out all the clothes to take/pack/match up into outfits/still buy. ugh. so much thot.

And here is a thought. Cruising in the tropical carribean at the end of summer? Poor planning wardrobe wise! :rotfl2: We have worn and grown-out-of half our summer stuff, no decent sales yet and I should be spending my money on new fall stuff!

kileybeth,

Maybe you can find some end of summer deals on clothes that they are trying to get rid of to make way for Fall stuff?? :confused3

That's frustrating about having to "wait and see" on your husband cruising with you!!! So sorry about all that!!

Yes, truthfully, I love to shop, a little bit too much even, but it kills me to buy new stuff in August/September they will grow out of before next Spring. .
Thinking maybe a December free dining trip may help ease the guilt

My DH would rather I not think so creatively! :rotfl2:

I am usually a very good bargain hunter, (hence a September cruise!) but I just can't get in the mood or find enough $$$ laying around to want to take away from the fall/winter wardrobe.

thanks for the encouragment about my DH, we are just not even sure what to think would be best at this point! I will be so sad if he doesn't go with us though.

Kileybeth,

I'm right there with you on the shopping thing! :rolleyes1

I LOVE a great bargain, too!!

I got a GREAT deal on princess dresses yesterday at the disney store!! I have been looking every week, as my sister and I get my mom from her assisted living home, and take her to the mall each week. I can't really afford much at the mall, but I go in to look at what's up at the disney store every week.

Yesterday I found 2 princess dresses in the clearance area that were EXACTLY the right sizes for my girls!!!!! Cinderella for Isabella, and Ariel for Sophie! They were already marked down and then another 40% off!!! I felt like I hit the jackpot!!! So I got the 2 dresses (really quality ones, too!), and one pair of shoes and Cinderella's wand and crown (again, really heavy, nicer quality ones - never seen them before), all for around $60!!! `

Anyway, I was so excited, I just had to share that!!!
