9/19/09 Western Magic

Stacy, I'll miss you on this cruise.....NOT! Ha Ha Ha :lmao:

That's because I'm doing the same cruise as you the week before this and I'm doing the same cruise as you the following year after this. I'll see you around.

Yes, I do agree that since we seem to be following each other on cruises, we should get together. DH John said we should do lunch in Harrah's the next time you're going. Just let me know and we'll meet you there. Even if you're playing at the tables, you still gotta stop to eat.:rotfl:

AWESOME!!! we would LOVE to!! :thumbsup2

and we will just wait and see which other cruises we can get on together ;)

Maybe we should schedule our "times" with the crusie booking lady so we can just repeat the same reservations as each other.. :rotfl2:

OK, great, just let us know when your next trip is and we'll see you there for lunch. Very cool. Now do you have a picture of you both to post???

I'll find one of me and DH and post it for you. Which thread should I post on? Probably not this one because you just cancelled. I'll post over on the Tortola thread since that's the next cruise we're taking.

BTW, yes lets do meet at the onboard booking desk and we'll be sure to call and coordinate our outfits that morning! HA!:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Hi there. We just got off the eastern cruise and we booked this Western cruise while onboard. My dh and I have 4 kids but this cruise will be just the 2 of us. We will be celebrating our 15th anniversary the end of August, but we scheduled the cruise in September so we won't miss the first days of school. I'm looking forward to the cruise, but my dh is afraid he'll miss the kids too much. Looking forward to chatting more with everyone.

WELCOME.....it will be a pleasure to meet you and your DH.

I'll be travelling with my DH John.....just the 2 of us. We're doing a B2B with the week before this one. It'll be cruise numbers 7 and 8 for us and our 9th is booked for Christmas 2010. Can you tell how addicted we are. We think it's the happiest place in the universe.

Hi Katie,

We are myself, DH, DS14 (15 at cruise time) and DD10 (celebrating 11th onboard).

My DH worries about missing our kids, too. In fact, we did our first DCL because when we were planning a cruise for our 10th anniversary, he decided he couldn't leave the kids for a week, so we took them with us and thought Disney would be the best choice (it was :)). A couple cruises later and he's talking about just us, though. FWIW, I've been on DCL without my kids once and had a fantastic time.

Welcome to the thread!

Welcome abroad Katie!:cheer2: I am traveling with DH, DM, and DD (shes 11). Wasn't the eastern caribbean just awesome? I am looking forward to the western (even though I may not get off the ship):rotfl:

Thanks for the welcome everyone. We've been back from the cruise for a week but it seems like so long ago that we were on the ship. I'm excited to go back!

Hi cruisers! :jumping2: Just stopping off to wish everyone a very safe and fun Halloween! My little goblin decided SHE wanted to be Popeye!:rotfl: Hm, note to self to take the TV remote away and back to watching continual Princess movies before the cruise.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!:goodvibes

LOL, Popeye, that's cute. Can you buy a Popeye costume or do you have to make it?

I'm getting off cheap this year... my DD decided she was going to dress up like Charlie Brown in "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown." (She kept saying she wanted to dress as the "Charlie Brown Ghost", and it took me a while to get it, lol.) I got her a $4 Walmart sheet so she could cut lots of holes in it and I'll probably just give her a paper bag with handles that says "I got a rock." The grownups may get it, but the kids will probably be clueless. Did I mention she has an interesting sense of humor? :upsidedow

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Hey Folks,

HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVERYONE!

Just wondering if you all have already chosen your excursions/activities for our 2009 cruise. Any advice on what to do in Cozumel and Grand Cayman?
(we are 2 adults and DD will be 7 at the time of cruising)

I thank you guys in advance for your help.

Dennis

My husband and I did Stingray City on our honeymoon cruise (Grand Cayman) and it was such a highlight that we want to take our kids there. My son says he won't get off the catamaran with the stingrays, but you can see fine even if you stay on, and the ride over was so much fun also. Definitely one option for a great experience.

Our 2005 cruise was supposed to be a western (hurricane changed that) and we had booked a dune buggy tour through Cozumel Homes that got rave reviews. Unfortunately, the hurricane damaged the island so much that they are no longer allowed to go to the good "off road" areas, ruins, etc. that were the big draw, and I've heard it's not nearly as good. We've been thinking about Xcaret, there's a great thread with lots of pictures here: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1500000

The only complaint I've heard is that the time is limited and you can't possibly get everything in that you want to.

Anyone else found anything that looks promising?

Yep, I found a Popeye costume last month at the party store. Unfortunately it has a picture of Popeye smoking a pipe. I told her that she definately could not have that, even fake, so we settled on a can of spinach. I use to LOVE Charlie Brown! I bet your daughter will look adorable.
As far as excursions, I honestly have not thought that far ahead. I have been more focused with the FE gifts-I LOVE GIVING!! I think once the holidays are over, I will be in cruise mode. I am also going back to school to become a special ed. teacher in January, so I know I will need to focus on a vacation when I start school. I was thinking of renting a golf cart in Key West. So far, that is about it.

* subscribing *

Hi everyone,
I'm just subscribing to this thread as we are are planning on taking this cruise next year. We have yet to book, but hopefully once dh get's his vacation time later in the week we will be booking this cruise!
I am really excited! We just took our first cruise on the Disney Wonder in October. It was 3 night and we just fell in love and can't wait to cruise with Disney again! I have been tied between doing another land/sea package again, however I think we will try this 7 night cruise instead!

Here is hoping dh gets his bid for vacation so we can take this cruise!:wizard: :wizard:

Hi All! Me and DH John have done a western cruise before. We did a bus ride tour on Grand Cayman which also included the turtle farm. But we went before the pool was finished being built. Now I would go there and stay the whole day because they have the pool available.

We never got to explore Cozumel because we went to the mainland and did Tulum. That was my favorite place ever. It was a long ferry ride to the mainland and then a long bus ride. But it was worth it. We saw Myan ruins and then went to a beach that has to be the MOST beautiful beach I have ever been to in my life. The sand was like baby powder it was so soft and fine. The water and setting with the ruins was breathtaking. I LOVED it.

As much as we would want to go back, we want to explore Cozumel this time. So does anyone have any excursions that they have done there?

Good morning everyone,

Just checking in. Did everyone have a nice Halloween? My daughter started out as a ghost, but the sheet drove her crazy so she borrowed her friend's Gator jersey, stuck some eyeblack on, and went the rest of the night as Tim Tebow, lol.

We go to a great neighborhood to trick or treat where practically everyone participates, gives out handfuls of candy, and besides decorating up their yards there is a guy who wanders the neighborhood in a hockey mask with some kind of machete or something and he occasionally bangs his weapon on the ground and chases the kids (he's there every year so they aren't too scared). At one house they pass out hot "grown up" cider (read: spiked) and margaritas at another, so the adults were happy, too, lol.

I guess now it's time to start thinking Christmas. I love the holidays, but I'm always so behind this time of year. Seems to come up so fast! Are the rest of you ready?

It's nice to know that when boring old January hits we have something else to look forward to -- cruise planning! :goodvibes

Hi Melissa and everyone!
We had a good Halloween. My brother loves Halloween! He roped my husband into it several years ago and the 2 of them construct a haunted house on his driveway. It is many months of planning, all for 2 hours of taunting other people's children. The neighborhood kids look forward to it though.

Ah, Christmas!! This past weekend actually got below 90 degrees, so I jokingly told my husband I needed to get some Christmas decorations out. I wasn't greeted with a warm response, just something muttered very low about me being nuts and divorce.. So I thought I will mention again next weekend.:rotfl: I like to get things started a few days before the hustle of Thanksgiving. Actually Thanksgiving isn't as popular for us girls as it is the day after!! That day, as crazy as it is, is my all time favorite. I love the moody people, the half asleep husbands, and the thrill of finding a bargain on something that I am going to forget I purchased because I have hid it so well.:rolleyes1

Hope everyone is well. I actually found some things for the FE exchange the day after Halloween. I also ordered 2 FE's on ebay for my daughter as well as for my mom for Christmas.

Hey Karen!

Gosh, our thread is quiet, except for us, lol. I'm kinda looking forward to Black Friday myself this year.

I hear you about the Christmas stuff... I usually bug my DH starting the week before T'giving so he has them up by then. He mumbles and mutters also, but he does it. I love having the lights up! I was born and raised in So. Cal, so I hear you about the temps not being quite right. Here on the FL Panhandle we get a little cooler, but not that much. We are all wearing shorts today.

You're going back to school to become a Special Ed teacher? That's funny, that's exactly what I'm considering doing! Do you have a degree already? I have to start from scratch since my college classes are scattered and I think they actually expired already. :sad2:

My DIS friend left for her cruise today, so I'm having serious DCL cravings!
