Saw this on the CB about a week ago and thought it would make an interesting topic.

Can you remember what you were doing? If yes please post.

I was hmm.. 7 No one at school told us anything I guess because it was in another country. I remeber walking home from school with my grandma and when we got home I see the news on TV, I remember the towers on fire and seeing people jumping out of windows. I don't think I felt sad really I didn't totally understand what was happening but now I do. I then remember in the evening going to pick my mum up (no idea why I can remember being in the car).

Post your memories of that day.

If this is an inappropriate (sp?) thread, sorry.

I was 8.
I was at school. 3rd grade.
They told us at school.
But they didn't say anything else.
It's all I remember.

I came home from school on a bus. And my parents told me I couldnt go play outside because there was something wrong.

Thats all I remember. And alot of phone calls, becasue my cousin worked there.

All I remember was that I was in the 3rd grade, sitting in the classroom.

I don't think they told any of us,but I remember leaving early because my mom called us out.

I was in 4th grade and if remember that day we were doing a presentation on owls. No one at school told us. But when I got home my mom told me

I was in 3rd grade. They didn't tell us at school. I came home and that's all that was on the news... that's all that was on every channel. Flight 93 flew right over my town. It was all that was on TV. There were flags everywhere. People were crying. People banded together. Its a bigger memory than most of my 3rd grade memories because it was so traumatic/dramatic.

i was 7 and in 2nd grade they mentioned nothing in school but i went home to my nan who always has the news on and she showed me the footage on the news.

I was in epcot. I remember that the cast members didnt look as cheerfull, not all of them at least. I remember going into food rocks, the last showing of the day, and then the park was closed after that final show. After getting on the bus to go back to the hotel, Dixie landings as it was called back then, French Quarter now, I saw that roads were baracaded, and there were cops blocking the parking lot to disney quest. Back in the room i remember the news being on, seeing the video. The hotel common ground ( food area) was crowded with people looking for something to do,, and there were charectors at the hotel. A few days later, at the airport i remember the security being extremly tight, I remember charectors meeting people in the line. I also remember being afraid to go on the plane.

Yes, thats probably TMI ( to much info) but i remember it that vividly.

I was at school. They sent us home early.
then I went home, my mom was there. and she was watching the news. I saw the towers fall, but didn't have a clue what they were or anything. My mom looked so sad. But I didn't know what had made her sad.

thats all I remember

I was in 2nd grade, and I didn't know anything about it until I came home and saw the footage on the tv.

I remember that the next day I was really freaked. There was a gas leak at my school, and we had to evacuate to another school. Between that and 9/11 and the fact that I was 7, I flipped.

I was in 5th grade. I remember one of the secretaries ran into our room and whispered something to our teacher. Then she told us that we were going to watch the news and for the rest of the day my whole class sat in front of the tv watching it being replayed over and over on the news. It was sort of surreal, I couldn't believe that it had happened.

I remember I was in 3rd Grade. My friends mom was taking me to school. I was walking into the study and my friend and her mom just burst opened the doors (I was like uhh we have a doorbell!) and toldl us to turn on the T.V. by the time I got to my mom in her room she had it on and was in tears. I was so confused. My friend was so scared b/c her grandparents were on that flight. We soon learned that they had some problems getting there and missed the flight. They went on the next one and were ok. We have an army base in my town and I remember going outside and seeing the big helicopters(the ones that the army uses). Those I had only seen one other time and that was when OKC was bombed. That is when it hit me. Something was terribly wrong. It hit home to me a little more than some people since my dad is in charge of one of those airplanes that hit the towers.

I was in grade 3, I believe.
We weren't told anything until the end of the day until the teacher said something along the lines of ..
'Something bad happened today, when you get home your parents will talk to you about it.'

When I came home, I think after supper my parents told us about it. And I think they said something like 'The world isn't all bad, but it's not all good either.'

I remember that all the planes stopped flying and stopped at the nearest airport. Our airport had many planes that stopped there. People were staying at the local hockey agrena/concert venue where many volunteers were looking after them. Some people went home with the volunteers and stayed in a home where they'd be more comfy.

I didn't know much about it then. About a year ago, I read a book about it. I still have it. It's like 'What really happened.' It was good, but it scared me. I refuse to look at the cover. I have it hidden in a spot where I can't see it.

I was in 8th grade.
I first heard about it while walking to Spanish class. It was being whispered in the halls that the Twin Towers had been hit by an airplane, and when looking into empty classrooms, teachers were watching the tvs. But me and my friends that I was walking with didn;t really think anything of it. We joked, 'how can a plane hit the towers. are they stupid or can they just not see a huge tower while flying?' etc.
My Spanish teacher said nothing of it, so we basically forgot about it.
That is, until I walked into my next class, which was English.
By that time, it was almost 10, which meant both towers had been hit. I walked in the class just minutes before the first tower fell. My english teacher had the tv on, so as soon as I saw it, I was shocked and so scared. For the rest of the day, in all my classes, we barely did anything but watch the tvs. The principal had made an announcement to not watch the news, but my teachers felt it was better for us to watch it.

My dad works in NYC, and at that time, I had no idea where his office was in comparison to the towers, so I was freaking out. Luckily, though, he was a sinus headache that morning and had gotten a late start. He was in his car when he heard the news. As soon as he heard the second tower was hit, he turned around and headed right back home (he was only about half way to the city by that time). His office wasn't near the towers, but you could see them from their window. and he became the information-giver to the people in his office, as cell phone calls could go in to the city but they couldnt go out. He was constanly on the phone with his coworkers, and their families to tell them they were safe.

My uncle worked in the second tower that was hit. Again by luck, he was running late to work that morning. He had just gotten off the Path train that was underneath the building when his tower was hit, so he got out of their quickly. He actually caught the last ferry to Jersey City before the collapse that forced them to stop the ferries.

Later on that day, after school was out, my dad noticed that I needed to get away from watching the news, so he took me and my sister out for pizza and we stopped at Home Depot to get something that he needed to fix something in our house. Home Depot was giving away free American flags. We took one and bought a flag holder, and to this day, a flag is still flying outside my house.

To this day, I can not watch any news/footage from that day. It was burned into my memory, and I just can't bear to watch it. This day was almost 6 years ago, and I still remember mostly every detail of that day.

I was in my 4th grade class. It happened when I was in gym. I remember going back to class and my teacher told us what happened. Then he turned on the TV and we watched one of the towers go down in TV. Then I remember this kid in my class crying because his uncle worked there. Sadly, his uncle didn't make it through it. My parents didn't come and get me early from school. They told me I couldn't play outside. At the time I wasn't sure what was going on. All I know that it was something bad becuase the people on TV were crying.

i was in school in either first or second grade the teachers told us what had happened but no one understood
the techers told the whole school and i remember walking down the halls and people were crying
almost all the kids were picked up early that day
when i got home my mom was scared to death because my dad was at an airport and wanted to see if he was ok
my dad was supposed to be in one of the towers hit at that exact moment because he had a meeting with his old company that worked in that building
but the meeting was cancelled and he flew out to iwoa for another meeting
my father might have died if the meeting wasn't cancelled
all of the people in his old company lived except one
and a ked in my class his dad's friend was in one of the towers when it was hit but luckily made it out alive

I live around NYC.
I was in 3rd grade.
The day went on as usual, except kids were being escorted out of class, to go home. We didn't know why. Being a kid, I didn't really think much of it, until an escort came at noon to bring me downstairs to the office. I was a little upset that he came as soon as I got my lunch. But still, I was like, "yay, I get to go home!" The escort told me to be quiet. So, I was like, uh-oh. I ran into a couple guys from another class, and they told me that 10 kids were already brought home. Once again, uh oh.

On the way home, my mom told me what happened.

I freak out when I see planes.
Because I live close to an airport, they're really low.
But I could never remember them flying that low before. Never.
