The is new to us so I'm not sure if this is normal or a bit much.

The drama teacher wants each child to pay @20 per semester and do 2 different fundraisers for a play(s) they are writing and acting in this school year. She also wants parents to volunteer to make costumes, make props, apply makeup for the actors, I know that part is totally normal. They also have at least 3 rehearsal's after school and probally a couple Saturdays also.

Does this sound normal for 8th grade drama class? The fundraising and $20 per semester seems a bit much to us. Maybe 1 or the other but not both.
Also, the after school and Saturday rehearsal's, my son is already plays soccer after school with Sat. games. NOt sure what to do if they both are scheduled at the same time. ( may not be an issue, just looking ahead)

Thanks!

My DS takes 8th gr. drama class too,and there has been no mention of oney, props, costumes or anything. They only practice the play during class,as it is a "drama" class.he is in the middle school play which is after school practice, and we are asked to bake for the concession on play nights, but that's seperate from the drama class.

Sounds a little excessive to me.

Sounds like a bit much to me too. When I did drama in 8th grade we just had to provide the costume when the time came. No fund raising, no money extra. And we didn't practice that much until the week before the play.

I think it should be one or the other, not both. At our school it is always one or the other. I have 2 8th graders and they haven't ever had to that.
