So my plan had been get inside the park at 730, get to rope drop and then go to nemo, but I just found out that there is no rope drop on 8AM mornings. So we have to wait outside till the gate opens at 8. This could mean we pick a bad line, the wrong line, etc etc. And we won't be able to locker or anything before we get on nemo.

So...

In this scenario, is it better to monorail in? That go through the gate at 8AM? Can I monorail in, if I am not staying at a disney hotel? Or is the opening monorail only for people staying at the hotel. What are my chances of getting on the first monorail if I get into the rail line like at 7:30?

The monorail won't leave the DTD station until 8am, and has quite a long bit of track to go through before it stops in DL. Granted the station in DL is right over the Subs, but still, there's a very good chance that you will still have a bit of a wait by the time you deboard, get down from the platform and get to the subs line. I am not sure if the monorail is for hotel guests only in the first part of the day or not right now (my guess is not as they're running two monorails).

From what I understand, resort hotel guests have priority boarding on the Monorail. I'm not sure how strictly this is enforced, but I wouldn't risk not being on that first monorail into the parks.

Get to the front gates in the esplanade by 7 am. You should be one of the first in line. Ask a CM behind the gates if they are opening odd or even numbered gates (they do this when we go during off peak, not sure if they do it during peak periods). That way you will know which line to be in.

Good luck getting on Nemo!

I thought I saw somewhere that not only are there storage lockers inside DL (on Main Street), but also just outside the entrance? Is this true? And if so, can a person access them before getting in line for the gate opening, or do you still have to go thru a turnstile to get to them?

I found this on the Disney website:

Lockers
Locker rentals are $7, $10, $11, $12, or $15 per day, depending on the locker's size. Lockers provide unlimited access throughout the day.

Disneyland® Park: Lockers are available outside the Main Entrance and on Main Street, U.S.A.
Disney's California Adventure® Park: Lockers are located at the Main Entrance and the Golden Gateway.
Downtown Disney® District: Lockers outside the Main Entrances to Disneyland® Park and Disney's California Adventure® Park are available for use.

Ive never noticed the outside lockers, Ill have to look for them, thanks.
