80's movie remakes

I saw the trailer for Nightmare when we went to see Clash of the Titans this weekend. Clash was wonderful, or at least I thought so, and Freddy looked absolutely terrifying...even creepier than the first one IMO. On my list for Halloween 2010 already!

It's bad enough they're remaking Red Dawn, but
then I read they are remaking Overboard!!! What the...???? They are going to ruin one of my favorite movies of all time!!

I heard about that one. I fail to see the point in that remake. Loved the original.

lol i'm actually kind of excited to see that, too. i went and tried to watch the new F13th movie and it was horrible. but Freddy was always scarier.

tbh i think Endlund's Freddy WAS pretty scary for a while, but then after i think the 5th one or something Freddy started getting lame with all of the one-liners they gave him.

the new guy doesn't look so bad.

they're remaking Footloose. i was never a huge fan of the original, but Chace Crawford is kind of cute....so i'll be going to see that lol

"They" are trying to make him look more normal- more psychological nut that could be your next door neighbor.

Rumor has it that J-Lo is supposed to take over the Goldie Hawn roll. :faint:

I'd rather watch paint dry than Jennifer Lopez try to be half as funny as Goldie was in that movie.

Ok, I have never seen this movie, but I know the premise. I think "The Big Chill" would be a great remake.

Robert Englund is the only one who should play Freddy. Jackie Earle Haley's freddy looks very pathetic.

Oh i saw a commercial for that last night finally. Couldn't hardly see freddy's face. I will say that after watching Human Target, Jackie Earl Haley scares the hell out of me:rotfl: And i was SOOOO very into Freddy Kruegar back in the day. I would say I'm on the fence about seeing it, but the truth is I NEVER go to the movies anymore. Now if somebody tells me that Johnny Depp makes a cameo that might get me in the door:lmao:

Producers should stick to the tried-and-true credible post 9/11 villians: middle eastern fanatics (True Lies is an excellent example) or various forms of Eastern-European terrorists or South American drug lords (Die Hard has built a franchise off this).

Have you seen the movie "Reel Bad Arabs"? (you can watch the whole thing on YouTube) Apparently these people who have been the fodder for Hollywood's blatant vilification of an entire race are actually people. Whooda thunk? Just when you think we can't become a more xenophobic society, another film devil speaking a language we can't understand makes us squirm. Credible villains...

That aside, I'd actually like to see The Breakfast Club remade. Yeah, it's a classic, but I'd love to see the new high school stereotypes work out problems on the floor of the library. I think it would be pretty cool.

Thank you!:thumbsup2 Love, love, love Mr. Englund. He is the only Freddy in the movie in my mind.

I hope the re-imagined Nightmare doesn't end up being as laughably horrible as the Friday the 13th remake. That movie was just an embarrassment.

I'm not sure about the Nightmare remake. I was totally against the Halloween redo and I think I was right about that one but I suppose that I'll have to check out Nightmare.

I can see redoing movies that were rather lame to begin with. I will not see a Breakfast Clube remake because the original was perfection.

I just saw The Breakfast Club and Pretty in Pink on tv over the weekend. DD11 said, that girl looks familiar-Molly RIngwald plays the mother on Secret life of the American Teenager.

Say Anything-that is the movie that I fell in love with John Cusak, still today I have a thing for him.

Some of the "fashions" from the 80's are back and DD will see something and I will say the 80's called and wants that back.lol I miss the 80's.

Wasn't the tv series "V" in the late 80's? I am enjoying watching the present day one and tellind DD they are big ol lizards. But she actually likes watching it with me.
