Is the 800 loop a preferred pet area? I have requested 300, but 800 looks like a good spot, too. The only requirements we have are shade and near a comfort station since we're in a popup.

Thanks!

Yes it is!

We picked that loop for a preference too!

Let us know how it is!

We were in 800 loop last Christmas. At that time, it was definitely a preferred pet loop. Convenient to transport (across from the Meadows Trading Post) and on the bus line. DD, who was responsible for pet walking duty, said there was a good walk area available on the back side of the loop. We liked it as a pretty central location, too. :goodvibes

We stayed in 800 loop a couple of weeks ago. It is a pet loop. It was full hook up, not prefered with cable tv. We were in site near back by pet walk and bridge to group camping area. I liked that because we could catch orange or purple bus and get back easily either way. If you will be using the comfort station it it located at the very front of the loop, so it could be a hike from the back side of the loop. As already pointed out, it is right there by the Meadows too. Not too far for a nice brisk walk after loading up on Mickey Waffles at the Trails End in the morning!!!!!!! :sunny:

So, it's pet but not preferred, right? Then that means we'll be sticking with 300 as a request. Gotta have our cable. ;)

Maybe something changed since Christmas... we definitely had cable then. Granted, all I wanted to watch was the occasional news program - for the weather forecast and the headlines - but we got all the "other stuff" too.

We were told when we were checking into FW in December that the 800 loop had changed to a preferred loop. We were disappointed because we had stayed in that loop the year before when it was still a full hook-up loop and had requested it again, but had to settle for another loop instead because of the change.

Stayed at FW last weekend and it had cable but will check again this weekend to make sure I'm not having a Senior Moment.

When I paid the deposit on my reservation for this loop for August 2007, they charged me for a prefered site.

Maybe they have both types in the loop?

Does anyone know if the sizes of the site vary that much? I am only getting a prefered site for the size not the cable. Our TT is 30' with a 4 bike rack and with the Excursion, we needed the extra room.

Thanks!

We were just there this weekend. We had booked a preferred loop. They put us in 800. It is a full hook up site (i.e. it has sewer, electricity, water AND cable). It's also a pet loop.

There was plenty of shade. For my family (who are not shy about walking), it was close enough to walk to both the trading post and the settlement. However, I couldn't find the path to come BACK to the loop from the settlement late at night!

The comfort station was very nice. Overall, the majority of people in that loop were in popups or RVs. We tent camped, and only saw one other tent setup. It was nice having the drain for gray water right at the campsite.

Thank you all so much. I think I would like 800 over 300 as long as it is preferred. I'll call the Fort today and talk to them directly. I'll let you know what I find out.

Thanks!

Preferred does not mean larger sites. In fact, the preferred sites in the 100-200 loops are some of the smallest and closest together on site. This is the "older" section of the Fort and was designed in the early 70's when RV's were smaller. Higher numbered loops in the South end of the Fort are "newer", larger, farther apart, but full hookup. So when a site is "preferred", it really refers to the fact that cable is included.

 Please disregard my earlier post!!!! We were in 900 loop. :confused3 Yes 800 is a prefered loop, and the comfort station is more centraly located in the loop too.

I just got off the phone with Ft. Wilderness. Just to let everyone know, 800 is a preferred pet now. So, I'll be changing my request from 300 to 800. Only five more days!!

GREAT :thumbsup2 So I did notice that it is a preferred pet loop and I didn't have a senior moment.
