My concert was at the Marcus too. You'd think Summerfest would draw some wild crowds.

You need to go to a Springsteen concert - three hours of singing and dancing with Bruce!!! It's a "religious" experience! I don't get the people who sit throughout the concert. Why bother to go? JMHO

Agree with that. My husband's a musician. He no longer goes to concerts because he wants to see and hear the players - not the audience.

I agree!!! Just saw him last month!!! Sat for 2 songs.

I think it all depends on the type of music & also what venue your in.....we go to the symphony, people don't stand & if they did they would be thrown out.
Last week we were at a private concert on the QM2 with James Taylor....no standing. Next month Crosby, Stills @ an outside venue, I'm sure there will be standing & dancing.

I like sitting at concerts. Always have, since my first concert, Duran Duran. Hate standing. Hate it when I'm sitting and people stand! If I want to dance, I go to a dance club or get "pit" seats (do shows even have those areas anymore?). If I want to hear live music, that's a concert.

Sitting is the norm here. If you stand, you get yelled at to sit down.

Same here! If you stand and people are yelling at you to sit down security will come over and tell you to please take your seat!
You want to dance, go to a nightclub-there is seating at concerts for a reason- to SIT!

If I am at a concert, I want a different experience than sitting on the couch watching them on TV. Just sitting and watching someone perform is B-O-R-I-N-G!

Besides, most of the people I go to see encourage the crowd to get into the music and to get up and dance.

Unfortunately, unless they start marketing concerts as stand-up or sit-down, there will always be those who leave unhappy. I've been to way to many concerts where I left unhappy because I could not see the performer I paid to see due to all the people standing in front of me. I don't want to stand throughout the concert. I admit it. I'm 57 years old and I can't stand for two hours. That doesn't mean I don't enjoy the music and the artist. I paid just as much for my ticket as the next person, yet I couldn't enjoy the concert my way.

OP, I understand that you want to stand and dance. There's the rub. Not everyone feels the same way. Sorry you had a bad time.

One of my pet peeves, but on the opposite side of the OP.

Well, I paid for a SEAT, so I'd like to use it. Now, I'm talking about mellow artists: Chris Isaak, Huey Lewis. Sure, I'll stand up when Huey is siging "Heart of Rock n' Roll", but if Chris is singing one of his love ballads - sit down! I'm short, so if you stand up in front of me, I have to stand and look around people. (I just can't seem to see THROUGH people!)

i paid 120.00 for a two day concert to see my absolutely favorite band (311).
the concert was in a parking lot, so a lot of people would stand really close to the stage. i'm not much of a crowd person or a dancer, so my boyfriend and i got lawn chairs and sat back farther from the stage. we watched all the acts, and ate pizza, but we did stand up to dance when 311 came on stage. we didn't get close to the crowds though, we just stayed where we were. a lot of people were gone at that point, and we were pretty much at the back, so we weren't in anybody's way.

it was hard to find a place to sit though, people kept getting in our way and being really rude. i don't understand why some people are so grumpy.
