8 yr old's dinner clothes ?

What do most 8 yr old boys wear on formal night ? And do they dress up at Lumiers ? My husband doesn't want to wear a tux so that's out. Thanks

My DS7 will be wearing tails for formal night but only because he already had them (he played Jiminy Cricket in a production of Pinocchio). If you don't want to go the tux route I'd suggest dark pants with a long sleeved, button up shirt. He could even wear a tie or a vest if he has one.

If you think tuxes would be nice but don't want the expense try eBay. We got DSs tails there for $25 and DHs Ralph Lauren tux for $49 (including shipping). We had to add the shirts & bow ties but they were still a lot cheaper than just renting tuxes and now they have them for the future.

Our DGS will be wearing a regular suit w/tie, but I've read that some wear dress pants w/shirt & tie w/o a jacket.

We saw boys dressed in nice pants and golf shirts or button up shirts. They all looked nice. Most of all they were comfortable, so they wern't bugging mom to go change:0)

A co-worker is lending my DS10 her sons tie. DS tried it on the other night - felt uncomfortable just tucking his shirt in!
So DSs formal attire will be navy slacks, black sneakers, orange shortsleeved button shirt w/blue tie.
(I also had him try on a bow tie - he wanted that off immediately!)
DS has green slacks w/green shortsleeved button shirt for semi-formal night.
And yes these are both dressed up for him!

If DH goes on the cruise, Im thinking most likely he will be eating at Topsiders. Unless he surprises me!
I'll plan on taking DS10 to dinner on formal & semi formal nights.

Our DS wears uniforms for school & I brought along a pair of his khaki uniform pants & that worked for us. He wore it with button down shirts, and I also packed one dress shirt & tie.

I really stressed over this because I just couldn't justify buying my sons suits to wear to an 1 1/2 hour dinner. I bought both of them black pants, white button down shirts, ties and dark sleeveless vest. I wore a black evening gown and my husband wore a tux and our pictures look wonderful. I was very concerned that the kids would look out of place and they didn't or that our pictures wouldn't look right and they looked wonderful. Don't stress over the dinner clothes for your kids issue. There were very few suits or tuxes on children this week. You really do see everything at dinner. Some people really dress up and others wear shorts.
