8 month old and rides

Are there some rides that I can take my 8 month old on in a carrier. I know that many have height requirements and I am not meaning those kinds of rides, but I do think she would enjoy some of the slower "family" rides. My husband hates rides and the baby gives him a great excuse to sit around but I was just wondering. She is very observant and loves to look at everything. I don't see how "It's a Small World" could be dangerous?

We took our son last year when he was 8 months old. He rode tons of rides. He actually had a really great time. He loved the characters. So much, we are going back this year. I have never been much of a disney person but after seeing my Disney through my son's eyes I am. We usually just held him and he was content. The only ride that made him cry was Imagination at Epcot. At the very end it scared him. We had him ride it again and he was fine. You specifically asked about It's a small world and yes he rode it not a problem. Have fun! I already told my husband that if we have another child we have to take them back when they are 8 months old.

Hmmm...I've never seen a carrier on a ride...so I doubt that's allowed. I can see how there's a "possibility" of danger with them. Like on It's a Small World...the boats tend to bump into one another...if bumped hard enough the carrier COULD fall over. Things like that... But I've seen lots of people holding tiny little babies on the family rides so you could to that, yes?

We have taken our boys since they were ten months old and the youngest went when he was six months old. If you are carrying your baby in a front carrier or sling you should be able to leave the baby in the carrier while riding most rides. The rides with a safety bar can be a little tricky but they are doable while still wearing a front carrier considering the baby will be sitting on your lap anyway. We used a backpack carrier once the baby outgrew the front carrier. We'd be in line with the baby on the back and as we got closer the non-baby-wearing parent would remove the baby from the backpack carrier, the baby-wearing parent would then slip off the carrier and hold that. After a few rides we had it down to a fine science. You can't go on the Indy cars with a baby in the carrier though, just fyi.

DS was 8 months old during his first WDW trip. He went on all the rides without height restrictions. I usually held him on my lap and he had a blast. Only ones that I found to be tricky were the 3D shows, as they sometimes spray water or have loud bangs in them. Also Peter Pan tips down several times and there is nothing to prevent baby from falling if you don't hold them tight. DH had DS for this ride and it was fine, but I was nervous. WDW is so baby friendly, that you will be able to do many rides without baby swap.

I did almost every ride without a restriction with my 10 month old daughter in a chest carrier, last month.

I used a sling when my DD was 8mo. It worked great. I could easily hold her in lines, and for most rides I just kept her in the sling. For the ones with lap bars (like Peter Pan), I just popped her out at the last minute. And our favorite was the train at the MK, as she fell asleep on it every time! As long as you can easily get your chid in and out of the carrier easily, it's definitely the way to go!

This is a useful thread, just out of interest what rides can you take the baby on? My DS will be 12 months when we take him in January.

First trip with our babies they were 8 months and 22 months! Like others have said, anything without a height requirement is good

MK train

Our 22 month old rode Dumbo with mommy. He also enjoyed playing at the Winnie the Pooh playground by Toontown.

fyi: they both loved the character meals at Chef Mickeys and Crystal Palace.

We go a lot, and ride everything without a height restriction. As far as safety, they'll be fine as long as they're in a front facing carrier or you're holding them in your lap. Have fun!
