That would have to be the name of our "play" as we experienced another awesome time enjoying the "set" that Walt built. WARNING: If you find a wonderful RELAXING time at Disney World an atrocity this report is not for you
Setting:One bedroom Villa at the Boardwalk in Disney World of course!!!
Characters: "Stars"-DH and myself, plus a whole bunch of supporting cast members. For good or bad, I guess other guests were also a part of the play.
Act 1~Sunday~
We checked into the Boardwalk Villas about 8:30 AM. We each enjoyed a danish and coffee from the Boardwalk Bakery and then went over to Epcot to get the info book on the Food and Wine Festival activities. Around 11:30 we headed to the ESPN Club where we sat at a table in the bar area and enjoyed eating and the Green Bay Packer football game. Great time, good food.
After the game we drove to the Florida Mall where I purchased some bath products from a store called "Lush" and also DD for a few special things from Basin for relaxing sore muscles and feet in the jacuzzi.
Since we were not awfully hungry that night, we just had a piece of pizza from the Spoodles pizza window. It was nothing to write home about, but sitting on the Boardwalk at night enjoying it was nice.
Act 2~Monday~
Slept in a bit and had a 9:00 brunch at Yachtclub Galley. This would be an excellent place for a non-character buffet. You can order off the menu or get the buffet. We would eat brunch here again.
We were off to Epcot and attended one of the free tasting programs for "Cookies". While the cookie was not what we expected, the man presenting it was really interesting. The wine with the cookie was excellent. We then did Spaceship Earth, "shopped" around World Showcase and had a snack and beer at USA and dessert strudel in Germany for lunch. YUM!!! Decided that the USA Sam Adams Oktoberfest beer was better than the Germany Beck's Oktoberfest beer.
Went back to the Odyssey building for a free tasting demo on honey which was interesting and topped off our day with dinner at Alfredo's. I am not real crazy about this place, DH does like their spaghetti, but we both agree their chocolate mousse is the BEST.
Act 3 ~Tuesday~
REALLY REALLY slept in and had a very late breakfast at the Boardwalk Bakery and just relaxed and enjoyed our coffee sitting on the Boardwalk. Got ready "slowly" for Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party" and then took the bus over to MK. Did some looking around the shops on Main Street and a couple rides and then had reservations at the Plaza Restaurant. Another great meal here, definitely recommended. Had an awesome time at the party, did bunches of rides, got bunches of candy and saw Hallowishes. Got back to the resort around midnite and topped off the evening with a rice krispie Mickey bar.
Act4~Wednesday~
Slept in again. Ate at Olivia's around 10:00. One of our favorites, HIGHLY recommend!!! Went to a movie in the afternoon at DD, "The Departed". Excellent!!! Went back to the room and took a nap and topped off the night at an awesome dinner at one of our favorites, Grand Floridian Cafe. Did not disappoint again. Highly recommended.
Act 5~Thursday~
Finally got up early!!! Off to AK. DH got a fastpass for EE and we ate Breakfast at Tusker House, first time eating here and highly recommend!!! My goal was to do 5 things we've never done and we accomplished them all. We saw DeVine, did the jungle treks, saw Flights of Wonder and DH did EE. We divided a plate of the broasted chicken from Tusker House for lunch and again would HIGHLY recommend!!! Delicious!!!
Got back to the Boardwalk and decided we needed to "work off" some of our lunch so we rented a "surry bike". It was such fun. Beware of the two hills!!! Tuckered out, we took a short nap and did some reading and headed to Artist Point for dinner. This place has yet to disappoint and the meal was DELECTIBLE!!! This is by far our favorite place to eat. EXCELLENT!!!
Act 6~Friday~
DH attended a conference at the Boardwalk in the AM. I attended "Kitchen Conversations" with Iron Chef Cat Cora. It was wonderful!!! I loved it. Had a nice brunch which she prepared, got a signed cookbook and tried a very nice wine. She talked allot about herself and Food Network. It was great.
DH met me at Epcot and made a lunch of "snacks" around the world and of course tasted a few more beers and wines
Then we headed to DD for a movie and saw "Man of the Year". This was also good. Ended our day doing a little shopping on the West Side and eating a delicious meal at one of our favorites, Wolfgang Puck Cafe.
Act 7~Saturday~
DH attended a conference in the AM and I did a couple loads of laundry and read. We then got a sandwich and fruit bowl from the Boardwalk Bakery which was EXCELLENT and enjoyed this while we watched the Wisconsin Badger Football game on TV in our room. Tired from cheering we took a nap.
We then got ready for "Party for the Senses". This was AMAZING and I can't wait to do it again next year. Well worth the money and such fun. Topped off this wonderful party watching our favorite, "Illuminations".
Act 8~Sunday~
DH attended the last AM of the conference and I got stuff organized and packed.
We attended the "Sweet Sunday's" chef program at Odyssey for lunch. It was a brunch with 3 desserts and two wines. Very good!!! We topped off our time at Disney doing our shopping at Epcot and then going over to DD to pick up a few things there also. We HAD reservations at the Turf Club, but we were so stuffed from lunch yet, the we picked up sandwiches and fruit from the Earl of Sandwich and went back to our room to relax and eat later. Went to bed early as we wanted to leave by 4:00 AM for home.
Act 9~Monday~
Almost cried driving out of the gates knowing that this time it will be a whole year before we return. I was spoiled by going 3 times this last year. It didn't seem so sad when I knew I'd be back in a few months. Oh well. It was another awesome time and absolutely SO relaxing.
I'm sure you've noticed we didn't get to MGM. DH love TOT and RNR, but I don't do them and there wasn't much else we cared to do there this time so we opted to do more at EPCOT and relax more.
Observations: Contrary to all the "complaints" I think for the immensity of the operation, the job they do at WDW day after day is astounding. If our country ran this well at at this same quality, we'd be one well run country!!! So maybe when people complain, they should first look at the quality of work done in their job and their little part of the world.
I would be VERY hard pressed to be nice to some of the people that go there. I don't think CM's are the problem as much as complaining, rude and insensitive guests. CM's are still people and the least guests can do is meet them half way by being decent guests.
We've been going there for over 20 years and yes there have been changes, but many for the better and from what I've observed, most of the "complaints" should be more directed at the "visiting public" than WDW!!! JMHO. We had a FANTASTIC time and now it's back to earth.
