8/24 wonder cruise

I hope that I do not get flamed by this report but I am going to be totally honest.
We have heard so much about the disney cruises. All good things of course. We have sailed on a few cruise before, not disney.
The ship is beautiful. We loved our room. We had room #2002 and #2004. We traveled with my friend and her family. We are both a family of 4. The room was very large and a nice window to look out. Our cabin hostess was great.
For the three lunches we ate them at the buffets. We were not thrilled with them except for the one on castaway cay was much better than on the boat. We enjoyed this lunch.
We ate breakfast at the buffets and enjoyed them. There was something for everyone of us.
Dinning was not so great. We sat at table #19. First night was at the parrot cay restaurant. We were above the motor of the boat. Our table shook the whole night. It was also very loud. It was hard for us to talk over the noise.The food was alright. We were not thrilled with the choices of food.
Next night was at tritons. Again we were above the motor. This night we did not hear/feel anything since we were in port. We were not impressed with the food.
Last night were ate at animators palate. Again we were above the motor. We were shaking thru the whole meal. This restaurant we also heard the very loud sound of the motor. We spoke to the head waiter and couldn't do anything about it. There were no other tables vacant. Again we did not like the food.
The service was very good. Everyone was very nice and helpful.
As for the activities on board.
The kids clubs/camp. The room for them was great. Very nice, and clean. We felt that there was always free time. Not too many activities planned. I do not know since this was only a 3 day cruise, not to many things are offered???
My review in a nutshell. We were a little dissappointed since we have heard so much about disney cruise line. We had a nice time but I think that we were expected a lot more. For the money we had a better time on our last cruise(not a disney boat).

Just curious - did you have kids with you ? If so - how old ?

We did the cruise with Disney primarily because we have small children - My husband and I felt that for the money we spent - we could get a lot more with another cruise line - but we did Disney because of the kids.

IMO - I would take a Disney cruise up until about age 10 - 12 - and then try another line after that.

This is really a family vacation catering to young kids - very well organized, safe and clean - without exposing young kids to a lot of drinking etc - We had a great cruise and are doing it again - but it is far more expensive than other cruise lines - and I think is really only worth it for younger kids.

I think what is good about DCL is that it enables everyone to have fun, regardless of age - but if our kids were older - I doubt we would go on DCL.

Oh, need to flame away. Everyone has an opinion, I love to read all of them. After 3 DCL cruises, my teens grew out of DCL and really wanted to try another line. We sailed Explorer of the Seas last year and they loved it. However, my DD7 would have been happier on DCL. But she had mad fun too!

I agree, as I tell my girlfriend who has 3 lil girls under the age of 7 to hurry up and take that Disney cruise!

My kids are 9 & 11. My friends kids are 8 & 11. Don't get me wrong we had a nice time. I thought that their was more for the kids to do on another cruise line. Maybe this is because the disney cruise was only for 3 nights. I just remember going back and forth to the kids area to drop off and pick up the kids many times during the day for activities. Here we dropped them off maybe once a day. I felt that there was always "free time" in the area. Again this could of been because of the short cruise and we were in port 2 of the 3 days.
I would love to try a 7 night cruise but next summer (when we would want to go)they are not running it.
Has anyone else expierenced the vibrations and noise in the dining rooms?

I think you are exactly right. That's why we are willing to spend more $$ on DCL because we have a 3 and 5 year old . Once they get older (probably 10+) we will switch to Royal Carribean or another liner. But for now Disney is the only way to go...

Never had a problem with vibrations and we sat in many different locations in the restaurants. Now on Carnival, It felt like an earthquake! (well, not that bad, but VERY noticiable)
