Went to DL today with my 2.5 year old and my mom. I was hoping for Light crowds based on friends' experiences earlier this week but it was decently crowded. Just a few thoughts and observations:

1. What is up with the wait times on the app?

They were so off for all the rides today. Sometimes this worked in our favor. When I arrived (later than I intended due to long lines at the parking structure and long lines to enter the park), we headed straight to Fantasyland. At this point it was 10:00am. As I walked past Peter Pan I thought, "Huh, that line doesn't look very long." The app said 40 minutes but we jumped in and were on the ride in 17 minutes. It was so awesome! We haven't ridden Peter Pan since we got our AP in February because my LO can't wait in a 40 minute line. It was awesome and it really is an adorable ride. I can see why it's so popular.

Another time the wait time for Pirates was listed as 30 minutes. It looked short and we hopped in and again it was only 15 minutes. Worked in our favor but so many times we went to rides that had low wait times and it was so off. 10 minutes for Nemo at 6:00pm (which I thought sounded I unusual) and when we got there is was 30. 5 minutes for IASM and it was easily 25-30 minutes. 15 minutes for Casey Junior Train (this took us 45 minutes and it did us in, it was our last ride of the day).

So what is up with this? I usually find the wait times on the app so accurate but not today.

2. The train!

Thank you for the tips about picking up the train at the Tomorrowland station. We waited 18 minutes in the shade, very nice. My son loved the dinosaurs! It was a nice, relaxing ride.

3. Tom Sawyer's Island.

First visit over there since I was a kid. We loved it. There was a lot to explore and it was nice and shady. We will be back.

4. Rancho del Zocalo.

Ordered the street taco trio based on reviews in the recent dining thread and it was really tasty! A bit spicy, fair warning, but super good! The kids bean and cheese burrito with rice was great for my LO but his rice was plain brown rice. He would prefer the regular seasoned rice so next time we go I'll ask if they can give him the adult rice.

5. Chocolate covered marshmallow wands.

Also found out about this in the recent dining thread and wowie was it amazing!!! I wish I would have bought two. My new favorite treat!

6. Haunted Mansion.

We really wanted to ride this before it went down for the overlay and apparently everyone else in the park had the same idea because it ran out of fast passes early and had a long standby wait all day so we never got to ride it. Boo.

7. Mickey, friends and the Disneyland Band.

Read about this little show on the Magic Kingdom Mamas blog. Starts around 12:15 at the castle and marches to Main Street in front of the train station. Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, Pluto, and Chip and Dale have a little dance party with the Disneyland Band. We sat on the curb in front of the train station around 12:15 and had a perfect spot to watch this cute little show. It's short but great!

It sounds like your day went pretty well overall!

Some of the rides have notoriously incorrect wait times. The Casey Jr. wait times in particular have been way underestimated for as long as I can remember. I think sometimes it has to do with how well staffed they are to live-update...

We like to march down Main Street with the band when we're in the area. It is a fun little show, and the castle part is worth watching, too, if you get a chance!

Yes, it was a fun day. Getting to ride Peter Pan with a short wait was a special surprise!

My trip begins in just 10 days. I am hoping to be able to enjoy a few rides on the train. Especially so I can take some pictures. Does anyone recommend a strategy for the best time of the day to do this. I keep reading comments about how long the lines are for the train.

I found that if you don't "close and restart" the app, the wait times appear as when I first opened the app so maybe that could be it?

I wish I would've know about catching the train in Tomorrowland. We waited about 20min under the sun and another 15min under the covered aread. When we were finally under the shade, waiting to board the next train, my 1yr old started crying so loudly we had to leave. Poor thing was hot and overtired.

Nope, definitely not. I reload the app frequently while in the parks. And I've used the app religiously for all of my trips and I have always been surprised at how accurate it is. I know that sometimes the wait times are just off for whatever reason and I know that sometimes when a wait is really short, everyone sees it and rushes over and all of a sudden the line is long and the app takes a while to reflect that. And I do know that some rides are notoriously bad for this (ugh, I should have known better then hop in the Casey Jr Train line), but something was really off this trip. Most of the wait times weren't even close and like I said, it went both ways... overestimating and underestimating. It was frustrating because basically you couldn't use the app to plan what to ride next.

Is this on weekdays or just weekends?
