Good Morning! It's a tropical 40* here! Break out the shorts! Well I have to because I'm packing.

Skorts have the skirt flap in the front but look like shorts from the back. Scooter skirts have the skirt going all the way around & the shorts sewn in.

We still call those skorts in these parts. I wear them when I golf.

These are my two younger kids. They won't be on the cruise with us, but thought I'd share anyway. This was taken on the May '06 Double Scoop cruise.
Jared is almost 13 in this picture and Jordan had just turned 16.

Stacey - she's beautiful and he's handsome. Guess you have your hands full.

NCLB - looks great on paper but that's about it. Our elementary and middle schools have all met the criteria set forward and have even raised their scores. Problem is that now the high schools are being issued warnings for noncompliance. It seems like all of the funding is being directed to meet the program's goals on a lower level and once the kids enter high school they're left without much of anything. Education in Pennsylvania, with the exception of Philly and Pittsburg, leaves LOTS to be desired.

Edumacation in the Pittsburgh area isn't much better. That's where I grew up and look at me. And I was one of the smartest kids in my high school.

Come on, give yourself a lot more credit! Seriously! My comment to that has to do with what I pay in school taxes vs what they pay. Monroe County (where I live) gets less than 5% funding from the state whereas Pittsburg and Philly gets better than 85%. Seven years ago school taxes were about $2500 per year. Now I'm paying over $6000 and refuse to send her to public. I keep asking myself why I just don't move back over the river to Joisey, where I was born and raised!

Pretty sad when you think about it. I recently read that PA ranks 26th for edumacation.

Here's another question- when, where and how (and how much) do you get the girls hair braided on the ship?

I never saw anyone getting their hair braided on the ship and we didn't really try to find out the info about it either.

This time we would really like to do this for the 2 girls (and possibly even myself! Especially if my hair isn't cooperating like it wasn't last cruise!) but I am NOT interested in getting it done at any port. We've been there done that in Jamaica (and I've heard of other places as well, including some of our ports of call) where you agree to one price and then when they are done the price is WAY more than they originally said. So we're only interested in doing it on the ship and I've never really looked for info on that.

Anyone care to take this question on? Thanks!

I will NEVER let DD get her hair braided. That is too painful. They have information in the first day's navigator about where to sign up for an appointment on the ship though.

I have a quick question before I leave for work.

Will they braid an adults hair on the ship?

I always get my hair braided BEFORE going on vacation. I'm wondering if they will be able to touch it for me. I know after spending 6 days in CA, I'll need to have some of it(the front) redone for the formal pictures.
