Found this while going back and reading some of the earlier posts. Helps us newbies figure out where the logo on the back of the tshirts came from.

Taken in context it's great, but I'm still not thrilled with it being on the back of the shirts. Just thought some of the other newbies would like to be more in the loop as well.

It actually came from POTC#1 (Gibbs and CJS sitting in the bar at Tortuga) and POTC#3 at the end of the movie (again Gibbs and CJS). This very important pirate phrase and not made it to any of the Disneyland or DCL cast members. :confused3 It is a standing joke with our family to yell out "Take what you can!" to any of the pirate cast members at DL. We have had responses from "Ah, have a nice day" :sad2: to "Ya, we be pirates":sad1:

The Mickey Finn is most likely named for the manager and bartender of a Chicago establishment, the Lone Star Saloon and Palm Garden Restaurant, which operated from 1896 to 1903 in the city's South Loop neighborhood on South State Street. In December of 1903, several Chicago newspapers document that a Michael "Mickey" Finn managed the Lone Star Saloon and was accused of using knockout drops to incapacitate and rob some of his customers.

A Mickey Finn (or simply Mickey) is a slang term for a drink laced with a drug (especially chloral hydrate) given to someone without their knowledge in order to incapacitate them. Serving someone a Mickey Finn is most commonly referred to as slipping a mickey.

Now you post it it comes back to me, but being a Brit its not 'high up' in our history, thanks.

Can someone slip me a Bahama mama!

I'd better watch out where I walk :lmao:

I'm wondering if that was why I caught a pic of an Iguana in a bathtub on tv? Didn't hear the story.

Debi here is the pic of Rocky.

Actually as Roger says, many of our "sayings" & even the name of our group comes from the POC movies. Although Todd considers himself to be thee CJS & who can deny him after seeing how much work goes into his transformation. :goodvibes Many of us (including me) were not part of the group that sailed together before & named this thread, and in fact some of those people have dropped out of our thread and/or cruise, but we have stayed with the whole pirate theme & most of us consider ourselves pirates or wenches as well. I am not a huge POC fan as many here are, but I loved the first POC & I've had fun learning a little bit of the pirate lingo & it didn't take long to figure out the response to Take What you Can! Too bad the CMs can't figure that out huh Roger? pirate:

OK...

... so you just be careful out there. No more fence work in the rain otherwise you'll need to repair that fence from a boat or somethin' ...

The continuing saga....

Right after I posted here, I thought - is there a hose spigot on that fence, and did DH attach it to the fence? Looked outside that the entire fence wasn't down yet - called DH to confirm the existance of said hose spigot - and sure enough there was one. Quick get back into my wet clothes and run outside with a screwdriver to detach it from the fence.

About 2 minutes too late. Sure enough the rest of the fence went over taking the PVC hose spigot with it. So, I shut off the water to the backyard as we now had a mini-gyser - and goodness knows the ground certainly didn't need any more water.

As I was in the garage getting back out of all my wet things ... The power went out!! :rotfl2: DH said a power pole about 6 blocks from the house went over - he saw it on the way home. They got us back up in about 4 hours - it was a good drill for the boys. And we had fun sitting next to the gas fireplace, and using the candle lantern DS10 made last year at school.

Fortunately, a tree didn't land on the house - which was what I was expecting next.

This morning - between storms - we went out and demolished the fence. We figured they probably didn't want their bushes squashed flat. A power saw made quick work of it - and the downed panels are now neatly stacked - in the neighbor's yard. It doesn't appear they are home.

Heard a chainsaw coming from a neighbor about two doors down. And there was a lot of sawing. Wonder what they lost.

Here are some "before" pictures.

Got the blowdown picked up too, and the last of the winter pruning done. Looks like we're going to loose one of our big bushes - it came out of the ground. And I took out the poor little apple tree that never did do well - it got canker, and bore beetles. Wasn't dead - but was definitely on it's way out. I'll replace it with a different fruit that will like the heat there. Apricot maybe? Now's the time to put in new fruit trees anyway.

And DH got the hose spigot dug out - it broke off at the main pipe - of course. It's cleaned up and ready to be repaired. Shouldn't be hard.

Got it all done before the third storm started - about 11:30am. We've got steady rain again - but no wind - thank goodness.

In honor of the 36-74 inches of snow that will have fallen in the Sierra Nevada by the end of this third, and last storm...

Took forever to ketchup today, only had a day ato ketchup as well as yesterday I took Lauren to Birmingham to see HSM on Ice. It was good, but they sure fleece the parents on the merchandise. Programs were £12 (approx $25)!!!!!!! Luckily Lauren was happy to have a box of popcorn & keep the box. They even wanted 50p ($1) for a carrier bag & I'm sure it was nothing to do with protecting the environment!

Off to Belfast for 4 days on Monday, so hoping the mild weather holds, although the weather forcasters are threatening snow again for tomorrow, so we'll just have to wait & see.

I was interested in the wine iscussions a few pages back. Anyone know if there's any liklihood of these vineyards or whatever shipping either to our DL hotel or direct to the ship? I'm not sure wine from the UK would survive the transatlantic flight, and we won't have transport once in LA & I'm sure we could do a case without much assistance!

Hope you all have a great week-end & that you can easily repair all the property damage I've seen pictures over the last few pages

Prices at concerts are a total rip off.

i will vote the black boxers with the white shoes for the first formal night
than the white boxers with the black shoes the second formal night

Is there going to be an Inspection Committee?? :lmao: :lmao:

Esteri, you should have flipped your fence over... You could have had your own private boardwalk :lmao: :lmao:

Glad you came through without any major trauma. We've been in brownout all day. Just enough power to keep the laptop up. :surfweb:

I went to the gym & Lexi got her swimming lesson in. I got her changed and parked in the kids club, just in time for them to announce that the pool was closed "due to adverse weather and safety conditions." So no laps for me today. Hopefully tomorrow will be better.

I was thinking that maybe the wineries can ship direct to the ship too. I am going to check this out would be easier than carrying wine accross the US..

Google Earth has some great images:
