Who wants to go snorkeling in Aruba on the Antilla?

antillaaruba.jpg

I do, I do!!!!

I've already talked to my son's attendance office since he will miss a whole week. They said to mail a letter in July stating we will be out of the country for a family emergency. They said to state it that way so they can excuse it since the district frowns upon taking students out for vacation.

Our district does too, and we have also been told that family emergencies are considered unexcused as they are not recognized by the state of CA. Some districts get around this by doing a temporary home instruction contract. Our district has 2 letters(1 warning, 1 meet with an administor )that go out before a parent actually gets in trouble, and even then it is more like a slap on the hand. To actually get a parent fined for their childs attendance is like pulling teeth. I tend to tell parents who have children without attendance issues to just call their child in sick, as long as they are not out for more than 5 days.

aww, thanks

at least I provided some entertainment along the way

Very enjoyable entertainment too! I saw a trailer for JD's new movie and I much prefer him as Capt Jack (and I will go see the new movie)!

This fluff stuff is hard. How does Crash do it?

It just comes naturally to him.;) :goodvibes :lmao:

Nah - they'll be gratful they don't have to worry about a pirate run this weekend and can get cracking on their thanksgiving dinner.

It's a service we're providing to the thread.

Yeah.

That's it.

So we all should be thanked for providing a free weekend?:confused3 :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2:

Congrats Mike!:rotfl: :rotfl: :lmao: :lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Sorry guys, I skipped all the FLUFF to see who won:goodvibes
Nothing like waking up to 30 pages:scared1: Brought back the months of February and March.:yay:

Fond memories of course.:rolleyes1

Well.. you're not the only one - as "I" rarely know what I'mup to until AFTER it's done! <chuckles>

... please TRUST ME... it was NOT my doing. It was Cheryl with her new HIGH SPEED line that was challenging us INNOCENT Swabbies! We're all as INNOCENT as a fresh winters' driven snow! Is THAT how the expression goes? Or is it - we're as innocent as the yellow snow following a rabid bears trail? [/COLOR]

I proclaim I am INNOCENT this time.

Crash,

That's just scary, I was just getting ready to post my story (and I'm sticking to it!!!) that it was all Cheryl's fault with her new high speed, begging to to a pirate run....

Imagine Tom and Tom both claim to be INNOCENT!!!:rolleyes1 Trying to blame a person who just discovered what a real computer does at HIGH SPEED!!!!:sad2: :sad2:

Good Morning All,
Brooke is doing much better today. the trick is making sure she gets meds before the pain is really bad. We are still doing ice on & off every 30 min. I can't take my meds because Chuck got called into work. Huge problem, something about new system crashing.:confused3 Can't wait for him to get home so I can take my medicine and get some rest.

Thank you, that felt good.:goodvibes
Here is a few more!!! :flower3:

Hello,
My name is Tom. I am a DISaholic. Sometimes my DISing gets the better of me and I find myself engaging in wasteful posting, also known as fluffing. When I am with my DIS friends, I tend to get carried away as we post hundreds and hundreds of posts. I am here to get better, please help me.

So we can blame this contagious disease on you!!!!:confused3 I just had a consultation with Mickey Mouse and was told.......No cure for a DISaholic!!:scared: :scared:   :rotfl:

Not tonight dear, I have a headache. :headache:

:thumbsup2

Hi Everyone!

Once again I am way behind and am going to have to try and ketchup. We had a wonderful time at WDW last weekend - all except for DS and I being knocked down by a kid in the Magic Kingdom  On Friday night, right before 10pm and the 2nd Spectro parade, we were walking down Main Street USA toward the exit looking for a good spot to stop and watch. It was pretty chilly so the crowd wasn't too bad and most of the route was only 1-person deep. We were trying to get as close to the exit as possible and then just stand behind someone sitting on the curb. Suddenly a young teen (probably 12-15ish) was RUNNING through the crowd and cut right in front of me. He was so close that he actually stepped on my foot. Since I was walking when I was suddenly stepped on, I pitched straight forward. I was holding DS8's hand and he was slightly behind me, so I was trying to hold him upright with that hand as I fell. We both ended up on the ground with cuts, scrapes and bruises. Once we somewhat recovered, I was grateful that was all that was injured and very glad it hadn't happened to someone older who might have broken bones. Little did I know that this fall would come back to haunt me the middle of this week! On Wednesday I woke up with my neck and shoulders in major pain which was causing a huge headache. I went to see my chiropractor and as soon as he started examining my neck he asked if I had been in an accident - it seems that I have whiplash! I guess the delay of 4 days before the pain hit is fairly normal... At least I got to enjoy the rest of my weekend at WDW. We spent Saturday at Epcot and Sunday at AK until we had to leave for the airport and other than some of the bruises and scrapes, DS and I felt fine and had a great time!

My neck is still stiff, so I can only spend a short time at the computer before it starts bothering me. Hopefully, I can read a little bit at a time and still -ketchup - but the post count seems pretty high - there must have been a big pirate run for the 80000 post! :thumbsup2

Pamela (pdarrah)

I hope you are feeling a little better.:flower3: Remember you owe me a phone call!!!! :yay:

Interesting.

On the last Panama E/bound ( learning from the W/bound) you had a sheet in the stateroom and could order a full set or the ones you wanted plus a giant one. Then collected later ( from where Ocean quest is now).

On the Med they didn't do this, I asked for a full set, but you had to go to the shops and pick the ones you want, they said it gives people the option of leaving some out if you wanted.

You did get a bonus one if you purchased every one of them.

It will be nice to see them and I still have the 05 ones including Cabo even though we didn't make it.

I have 2 sets and the large pin--in the closet:rolleyes1
Since we all like :cake: Anyone have pictures of there wedding cake? Here are some of ours.

Groundhog Alert!

After seeing Chrissie's beautiful wedding gown, and having our wedding album out on Monday, I figured I'd post a picture from Linda's and my wedding. I missed out on posting the wedding pictures back near the start of the thread, so here goes.

Anybody else who missed out or just wants to be a groundhog too, post your wedding picture too. We'd love to see them!

Great pictures:goodvibes

SO - todays final soccer game was a nail biter! We were leading 3 to 1 going into the 2nd half - when the opposition shifted their best players forward - whom I had to caution several times against using hands, pushing and fouling. however, seeing as it is designed as a friendly game with game flow as the highest consideration... I allowed both teams a certain amount of friendly "nudging" as usual. THe game ended in favor of our opponents - but our girls did not care much as we all had a fun time.

So that's it - the AYSO soccer season is done for now...

I bet you and Alicia enjoyed it as much if not more than the kiddos:goodvibes

Have to have a ''fix' of sugar and entertainment to avoid depression!

A few years back we went to Florida at half term in October each year for two weeks, the weather is great, the Halloween parties are on, less people in parks.

The kids had six days off school so they were off four days, I told them in advance.

I had a terrible note on the return saying I would be reported to the attendance manager at the local council and if they though fit social services! A bit of overkill as apart from that both kids had 100% attendance.

I moved to August holidays!

I agree, just a bit of overkill:sad2:

Holy Cow!!! 1 day - 40 pages of posts.

What? Did everyone come back from vacation at once?

OK, I'm gonna go ketchup now.

My Mondays are always crazy and Tuesday had a PTO meeting (which is pretty mandatory now that I am being a co-president). I had planned to get back online and ketchup here on Wednesday, but instead I spent that day in pain and very, very nauseous (I didn't even know that was part of whiplash until this happened). This is the first time of been able to post or read since we left back on the 7th so I am really far behind now!

My neck is still stiff, so I can only spend a short time at the computer before it starts bothering me. Hopefully, I can read a little bit at a time and still -ketchup - but the post count seems pretty high - there must have been a big pirate run for the 80000 post! :thumbsup2

Pamela, I am glad you had a nice vacation.:goodvibes Now that really bites about the ST causing you all to fall:scared1: Hopefully you get to feeling better soon:hug:

It has been so long since I have been "on the boards". Mustve been around 76,000 when I last posted!

Work has me totally running ragged (and this is supposed to be my slow season). If it werent for the TOAL (and the fact that I am getting all the time off I need for the trip), I would consider interviewing for a new job! I worked so much OT lately, that I passed out on Fri nite and missed the chat.

And with all the sub prime issues, the rumor is out that the bonus pool at work will be flat from year to year.

Other than work, things are going OK.

I see folks are posting wedding pictures... will have to scan one. But we both look quite different - and its only been 11 years.

Still have not replaced the hot water heater (this was a topic on a chat a few weeks ago). Am using the coil in the oil fired steam boiler for hot water. But am considering a gas fired tankless hot water system. Anyone have one of these installed? I hear they are energy efficient (vs a tank hot water system).

Also, we may ditch our April trip to WDW as my DSis-in-Law is having financial issues and we are trying to tell her to not go to WDW - and delay it until 2009. The airfare for this trip was rediculous (over $400 pp from JFK). We were considering driving 4 hours to Baltimore to get a reasonable airfare (of like $170pp).

Hope everyone is well! And if I fail to make it back to the boards b4 then.... Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!
