Ok, I just got the strangest call from my DS10's elementary school.

Paraphrasing:

"Today in art class, there was a substitute teacher. The teacher told a story about kids who made bad choices and ended up killing themselves. The teacher was removed from the class room and will not be working in the district any longer. The students were provided counseling and if you have any other questions, please contact the principal."

I don't think the principal is going to be a very happy woman over the next 24 hours.

oh wow :scared1:

should have been huh?

nah, just ended up being another thing to add to the list of good qualities

A list of questions for prospective DISsuitors:

1) Do you like :cake: ?

2) Do you have any problem with me talking about my hoo-haa doctor?

3) Do you own or have access to a cordless blender?

Any more?

I was going to say it will be hard to find a lawyer to take his case because it sounds like he doesn't have a leg to stand on, but I guess that's not true -- that's all he has.

And how does a one-legged man kick a state trooper? Like a Pele bicycle kick?

I was wondering how do they handcuff him---from his ankle to his neck??! :lmao:

I think I need to add "No dates on Friday night".....I miss chat

Ok, I'm off to finish packing and catch a plane.

I'll be at Disneyland this weekend with all the other crazy pirate fans waiting for Johnny and Orlando to walk the red carpet. Sorry guys, Keira's a no show, she didn't want to leave filming her current movie.

You can count on lots of pics when I get back pirate:

If we waited for the rest of either side of the family to make a decision about where to go or what to do when we would have never left this house. I am so glad that DH is more adventuresome than his parents.

Your in-laws aren't related to my in-laws are they? :confused3

OMG! :headache: That makes DS's experience with a substitute yesterday a little less horible. She just said crap a couple times, almost slipped with the f word and denied the class water after outdoor recess because the three classroom terrors talked in line on the way into the building. They didn't get anything to drink from noon until 3 when school was let out. I emailed the P, VP, & DS's teacher to let them know what I thought about that.

I hope that your DS is OK.

:sad2:

Even though DDad has traveled the world, I swear it practically takes an Act of Congress to get him on the ball and buy plane tix!!! First he talks about it incessantly, then hems and haws about the price, then tries to pump me for "tricks" on getting deals...:sad2:

Case in point: DS' birthday is next month, they asked both me and DW what days they should come out? Finally I had enough and said come out whenever, just get the tix and get it over with!

Time for him to decide to get tix, for DMom to ask for the time off at work, for them to wait for the proper alignment of the planets and actually book their tix: 25-45 days!

Time for me or DW to decide to go someplace, check pricing/availability and book tix: 45 min - 4 days tops.

Unless we have to wait for booking to open...say for some silly cruise ship? :cloud9: :rolleyes1

So I have to call the airline for an update on the delayed flight coming into Honolulu to pick up my in-laws to see if they're really gonna be 8 hours delayed. Instead of arriving at 9PM tonight it will be more like 5AM instead... yuck!

Alas - this relaxes our schedule to get up there to meet them IF it holds true.

OK... this was a last glance before I head out the door... one last glance now before I go...

I wonder what has messed up all the flights out there today? :confused3 DH called & left a message that his flight out of LA was cancelled this morning so now he isn't landing in NC until 10 PM. That isn't good because then he has another 2 1/2 hours to drive to his parent's. It would matter if he was coming home because that airport is also 2 1/2 hours from here. :sad2:

Your in-laws aren't related to my in-laws are they? :confused3

Possibly....but if I asked them we wouldn't get the answer for a few years. ;) They have a hard time deciding what they are going to do in an hour some days. OY!

yeah, he's fine, thanks for asking. He was real nonplussed about the whole thing.

"Well, some kids were acting up, so the sub told a story about some kids who made bad choices and ended up killing themselves. Then the principal came in and we did an art project".

"Are you okay? Anything about the story you want to talk about?"

"Yeah, I'm fine. Can I play video games?"

I think I'm going to call the principal and tell her the story drove my son to go play "Call of Duty 3" tonight. That ought to be good for some uproar....

Hey Lisa and yargrnhoj

I just saw your posts about the incidents at your kids schools. As a teacher I am horrified! People like that should not be teaching.

Chrissie

This is OPRAH'S term for it. I laugh everytime she says it and she cracks up everytime she say it.

Karen

I think it is hilarious everyone has their own "pet" names for these unmentionable Dr visits.
Whenever I tell DH of these appts, he always says, "Oh, the annual kiki check"

Me too! I have had 35 years (and a few months) with the woman I love; the only woman I have ever been with and the mother of my child. I definitely believe that I got the best of this deal. No matter what she may do to preplex me I know that she puts up with far more of my junk each and every day!

Awwwww, you had me at hello- what a nice post

:scared1: WOW :scared1: I think sometimes these substitute teachers do not realize the restrictions on what they can, and most importantly, can NOT talk about in the classroom. In our district, no special education or training is required to be a substitute teacher. Most of them are very conscientious, responsible people, but as in everything - there's always a few "doozies". Sounds like they took an appropriate corrective action

No, I work at a bank. Now I understand why all the reward programs give 3% back on gas purchases. The Hess station tonight went to 2.91 and the Mobil across the street was 2.95. Usually Racetrack is the lowest. I have to tell you a wild thing that happened to me at the Racetrack last year. The price was around 2.50ish. I started pumping gas and noticed the price was barely moving. Didn't think much of it as I sometimes zone out at the gas pump. Took my receipt and when I got home and went to enter the numbers in my check book that night I had to read it over and over. Apparently they set the price wrong and the gas went thru at .25 instead of 2.50.Someone was probably in deep doodoo that day:scared1:

I have heard of that happening. It really is very easy to do when you are entering the prices. Worst thing that one of my employees did was change the price sign, but forgot to raise inside. I told her she cost me $400 but I really didn't get mad over it. That is why they are accidents. Now if that station had that problem for a day and they had an average volume of 3000 regular gallons at 2.50 ($7500) and they only collected .25 ($750) a loss of $6750. I would have called my insurance. Hopefully a customer notified them and it didn't last very long.:)

Retailers and consumers in all areas end up paying for all of those reward programs. I would have to say that it hurts fuel marketers the worst because at that level we have slim margins and basically operate on pennies to stay competitive:sad2:

Hello Friends!!

Went for a little retail therapy after work today! Kohl's is having quite the summer sale WOO HOO!!

Gonna ketchup BRB!

Taryn's graduation is June 25th. I must admit I feeling proud and sad and nostalgic all at the same time.

Gosh MR Adam's last day of school is May 25th. But he still has one more year to go.:)

We just had honors for Jaclyn tonight.. So many kids with above 90 aver and perfect attendance.. It was a long ceremony..

Doreen what a great accomplishment for Jacyln!

Don't want to go there. Literally, figuratively, ecumenically.

Hey J.R. I believe you may have insulted me somewhere in there. What the heck does ecumenically mean??? If it's mean, don't tell me.
