Thanks for all the hugs and prayers everybody. My life can get pretty lonely. I have tons of acquaintances, but not many friends who are (physically) nearby. Sometimes it helps to shout out into cyberspace.

DH flew to Seattle this afternoon to be with the crew members who saw the accident, then he will head back East for the funeral.

The whole thing just sucks, but thank you all for your prayers and support.

Yes I was MR, I usually take off every Monday. One of the ways I have learned to deal with living/working DH 24/7 is to take at least 1 day off that he goes in. Sat is usually "family time" Mondays are all mine.

DRAT! Missed by 3 days. Quick weekend trip for us Jan 11-14 for DH to run the marathon.

He thinks it will be much easier than 7 commando days in the park with me.

Hey Lorri - don't feel bad about the on the WB thread - we are really not that invested in it, and it was all in fun.

We are ALL friends here on the DIS - no worries, and no need to feel bad - and like I told Lisa, no need to delete your post. While I am not the whole group on our thread, I think I speak for most - and we are adults having fun and would harbor no bad feelings about such a thing. Many of us have dear friends on your cruise, and like to have fun with each other.

John1 - who is in Vero Beach and feels bad that you felt bad!

, i'm so sorry for your cg family loss. its a tough postion to support
those going thru the unimaginable but i bet because you do care so much,
your offers will be a great comfort. . sometimes just being there can

i didn't read the story, as you did an excellent job getting the message
across. during drills, we had alot of medics using the military to earned
college degrees..so how to get motivated were a lil'challenging...i used
a"reminder approach"..what if ..i won't be the one beside you & no one
will have the knowledge to help. it won't be some elderly person but
one of your peers or even younger..relying on what you do next will
determine the outcome. .amazing how well they did during
desert storm. wow, old wow...i can remember the reserve center calling
the day before.."get your stuff ready...that's was a whole 7 years
before jordan...

Well now I have endured the second trauma of my son's transition to stinky teen. First it was noticing the faint trace of peach fuzz on his lip. Now today he has asked a girl to go see a movie with him on Saturday.

My baby boy!!!

His little sister keeps calling it a date. Of course that is ridiculous as he is way too young and we will be taking her with our family while we go to one movie and they go to another. It still tugs at my heart though.

Lisa, good luck with the PTO stuff. I agreed to take Treasurer next year. (Someone please shoot me now! ) We have a few who only made the first meeting too. In September we will have a new principal. My dd's teacher is in the running. Keeping my fingers crossed for her. She is great. I hate to lose her as a teacher, but would make a great principal.

You just can't have an officer drop off the face of the earth as far as PTO is concerned.

I think I would go nuts. I was lucky and got a room before they decided to give everyone GTY. On the other hand I know what I have and there is little tono chance of being up graded. I'll take the room number. Best wishes for the roomof your dreams to all who are still listed as GTY. Lois

It doesn't matter if you have a room number or GTY when it comes to upgrades. In four cruises we have always picked our room when making the resie. On the first cruise we were upgraded from an 11 to an 8. On the third cruise we were upgraded from an 8 to a 4!!! Don't give up hope. That is what PD is for.

If the rumors that they are overbooked are true, then they may be waiting for people to drop to assign rooms. We started as a 10 GTY but got assigned a room within a few days. Supposedly we are waitlisted for early dinner (we pulled 8:30 which doesn't sit well with DSs) but that hasn't changed at all.

They have booked a few people since those rumors came out so I question the validity at this point. We know that it was true the first day but I think that enough cancellations have been made to make things ok.

Thought I was the only one that took afternoon naps.

No way! It's the only way that I can have a chance to keep up with my SKs....stinky kids. I took an hour power nap before they got off the bus today.

I introduced our family to the group after we booked but haven't posted since. Now that our vacation is over (2/24/07 Western) we can start concentrating and overplanning the next one. We have just started thinking about pre-cruise ideas in CA. and we were wondering what others were planning on doing.

Welcome to the group! You have picked a good time to jump back into the thread before the pace picks back up. We haven't really gotten into the hard core planning...really too early for that. You can make reservations with excursion companies on your own BUT once DCL goes there and makes contracts with the vendors for our cruise....DCL can require the company to cancel any reservations that already exist for that time. It happened in 2005. Most hotels aren't taking resies in CA but we are dreaming now.

I sure once the boards start staying up for 24 hours in a row, the pace will pick up....

Lisa, you really need to do what is best for you and your family.

Last year made me realize that. The break this weekend was nice. With spring break next week I am putting off the new job until after the kids go back to school. I can't take the time for that away from the family...so the DIS was what had to give.

So when do the kids have time to play??

Whhhhy.... Every nite the kids "Play" hide and go seek with dear ol' Dad. Plus the dog gets regular joustings and huggin's fer what-ever reasons.

Our kids regularly go "nuts" on the hour. Why, just last nite before I turned in the Little One came over to declare that "Daddy's a napkin" then proceeded to rub her mouth and hands into me ... they were already clean but her conduct was in reaction to an earlier remark I made to her when she did something that amounted to using my shoulder as a napkin.

Otherwise... I am NOT the perfect parent (mock indignant expressions and tone)... YET. As I am still feverishly working on being perfect!!!

I had to explain to DD the other day that I am not the perfect mother but I couldn't not love her more if I was perfect than I do now, in my imperfections.

I have to admit - that although I don't have a ST yet - it has entered my vocabulary....and, I have to watch where/how I use it, remembering not everyone understands!!!!!

Said that today at DD doctors appointment when he told her to take her shoes off.

They were selling AK but our points wouldnt be active till Sept of 07 ....We bought 2 160 point contracts at SSR cause the deal was great ....Points were active as of Dec 06 ..the reason for the 2 contracts was to split evenly amongst the boys and or if they had no interest with it when they had kids we could sell one contract and keep one for Melissa and I ...But the deal was really really good ...

Todd, that is how it starts. Pretty soon you have more points then vacation time to use them. Which is why we have our whole extended family to WDS at Christmas time. It is pretty neat to be able to do that for them too. Welcome Home as they say.

Diane, I didn't even think of the time it saves
I am so obessive/compulsive about wrapping presents, I hand tie every bow that goes on them. They really are pretty. In fact I hate to see them opened and all the ribbons and bows discarded. (I just can't help it!)

I bet they come out beautiful! I wish I was crafty, but I'm not. I'm a great time saver though!
