I have that cake topper! Kevin got it for me on our 25th anniversary. It was our first trip to WDW and 1st cruise. Little did we know then what an addiction this would become!. ;)

You could do far worse for havin' an "addiction" Debi.

By the way, Andrew and Crash, I'm now scheduled for your Aug 15 2009 cruise. I have no idea at this point if I'll actually cruise it or not. I wanted to schedule something that could work for us if we chose to use it.

That's great! Of course, you know I'm not actually BOOKED for it yet = only that it "fits" our usual preferences as it's got a new port and we almost always sail this precise time of year with Disney for 4 of the past 5 years. So I'd say it's 80-90% sure we'll be on this voyage in 2009.

Now if I may offer to anyone watching out there... we might have a cabin coming free out of my group. It seems one of my BILs is sure now that they have another baby on the way and the 3rd trimester in when we're sailing. So his spouse can't go - and he's wondering if he would go without her - plus wondering if he'd take 1 or 2 of his kids. So I predict he will CANCEL some time in the next few days or weeks. Or more likely he'll cancel before the final payment is due. It's a catagory 9 quad - tier 2 price - and our TA might be able to transfer it to ya if anyone is interested. I still might have someone we might give it to (one of my brothers) ... but I think that it's unlikely. So if anyone is interested - then let me know and you'd be 2nd in line behind the possibility of my brother taking it.

One would think a week would be enough, but I've been waiting for my luggage from British Airways for 12 days now.

I hope our bags had a good tour of Europe without us...

That's because you went through the new Terminal 5. I read about it at http://twistedstraight.com/?p=39.

Looks something like this?

Apparently DCL (and their awesome computer system) has sent these out to most of the people who have cancelled the cruise. Now, this would go a long way to explaining why they haven't assigned rooms yet, why they seem to be in a quandry on planning, etc. Since they still think there is about 25,000 people booked on the boat.....:confused3

I don't want a room assignment yet! Once May 19th roles around is when cancellations will start really happening, and if there are enough of them they might open up some more GTY 11's or 12's to fill things up. Which means a chance for an upgrade. So the longer they hold off assigning my room, the better my chances.

Ok, I know it's a long shot. And I'll be quite fine with an 11 and the price I got. But I can't help thinking a bit about the Med cruise, where I downgraded from an 11 to 12 (saving many $1000's), then ended up in a 9....

I'm not sure, but one of the Hawaii pics that Paula posted looked like Lahaina (a fun touristy fishing village in Maui):confused3

Like comparing Paradise Island to ground zero :rolleyes1

Gotta show DH both your pics Paula and PBader:thumbsup2

One at least was Lahaina and the others were Hawaii and Kauai.

I had the good fortune to visit Yosemite in mid February, just in time for a fresh snowfall on the valley floor. Aside from great sledding (back near the stables), it was simply indescribable. Yosemite is one of the most beautiful places in the world any time of year. But during a snowfall... what a treat.

Just today I was having lunch with an old friend who had been hoping to join us on last weeks' visit to Yosemite. He couldn't make it - and I was telling him about how it went. How incredibly beautiful some of the experiences were - and how we were already committed to return to Yosemite in the dead of winter next season!

I bought a foreclosure for my folks some 10 years ago. It was a mess - we put in about $25K to fix it up - but we figure that was just part of the price. It turned out to be a great investment in the long run.

We too have had very good luck with foreclosure purchases. Glad to see your experiences have been good too. I guess you don't have much to worry about when the folks occupying the place are your parents! Only thing is your cap rate is zero usually, eh? < wink >

Below are a couple photos from 2 weeks back when we were in Yosemite plus a link to a little slide show for any who might be interested:

Wish we were joining you, but we want to do all of the excusions as a family and my youngest DS is too young for the zipline.

How old is DS? By doing the zips separate from DCL, there is a lower age limit. Don't know it off the top of my head, but might be worth looking in to.

I'm not positive, but I think I read that you can zip in tandem with the little ones.

JR sorry about the luggage. Did you have trip insurance as well???? Credit cards have a bit of that lostluggage insurance as well.

Yes, I have up to $3000USD coverage through the card I used to book the tickets, although, obviously, I am going to hammer BA to pay up as hard as I can first. I've alerted the credit card company and filed a claim and they said to let them know within 21 days if the airline has not indicated they will compensate. I also had separate travel insurance (not through BA) and I believe this will also cover my expenses since this occured on the European part of the trip (my coverage did not include the legs from the USA, but BA confirmed the luggage had arrived at Heathrow, but never made it to Charles DeGaulle).

I am just thankful we packed necessities in our carry-on. I had a bag lost in Hong Kong a couple of years ago, but it arrived on the next flight in, but ever since then, I pack my small cosmetics in my ziploc bag (and with five people, we were able to use five ziploc bags).

And luckily my wife and son had packed their contact lens trays/solution and glasses in their carry-on because they wanted to take out their contacts to sleep on the plane.

Just got an email from my TA that my planning guide arrived and she is sending it my way today. :cool1: :cool1: So there is still hope. I know it won't have anything new, but it does serve to make it seem more real after all this time.

Hoping to get our tax return to help pay off the TOAL. And I will be putting that incentive payment back into the economy...it just might be the economy of Mexico (or Columbia or...).:rotfl2:

He just turned six. I'll check into the tandem zip line option. He has no fear so he'd love it.

I wonder why it was sent to your TA. We booked two rooms through a TA and rec'd both planning guides directly from DCL.

Our tax refund is needed to pay for our vacation before the vacation. :lmao: This TOAL is quickly becoming two vacations added together (Southern California -- San Diego, Legoland and Disneyland plus the EB Repo cruise itself). My DW really wants to take the boys to the Midway museum in San Diego so we're going to add an extra day to do this (arriving at LAX on the 12th). My FIL always loved aircraft carriers and he received a trip from a foundation similar to Make-a-wish right before he passed away. His wish was to visit the Midway, but he was surprised with a visit to the USS Ronald Reagan as well. My DW went with him on the trip and we thought it'd be neat to share it with the kids as we'll be fairly close.

Good luck with this. When DH cancelled Delta said they had to send it back to the original card it was charged to. This is a credit card that we just sent a letter in to close so DH had to call the credit card company to let them know we were expecting a credit.

I assume you should have no problems since you still hold a card albeit with a different #. You may have to call the credit card company as well to let them know its coming.

I just got off the phone with Delta and they stated that I had to put the request in writing through the Delta.com website - just did. They were completely uncooperative and I told them that I would never fly them again and tell everyone I know not to.

I did mention that their website still doesn't say anything about the change and the official answer now is that because it doesn't affect people until May 1 there isn't a need to put out that info yet.

Stinks that the federal courts invalidated NY's passenger bill of rights

All that being said, we still have room if any of you were interested in coming to the ceremony and to Palo. Just PM me to let me know. I need to let the coordinator know by the beginning of May. We'd love to see some of you there, but we also understand that it is Castaway Cay day, and don't want to cut into your plans for the day.

In related vow renewal news, we ordered a dress for Hailey, and matching vests and ties for the boys and me. I have to say both David's Bridal and Men's Wearhouse were good to work with. We also got our tux measurements while at MW, so I guess ordering our tux rentals from cruiselineformal is our next step. It feels good to cross something off the planning list.

I would so rather watch your vow renewal then go to CC. But, I'm in charge of 6dd (she'll be 7 then) on that day so, that dh can snorkel and swim.

MW is where we bought dh's tux.

I bet it is all going to be beautiful!!
