8/17/08 Captain Jack's Repossession Repo Cruise to PC thru TPC #14

We are being picked up at 9:30 in Palos Verdes so we should be there about 10am.

Is that about the time most will be there?
We are still deciding when to leave.
I guess we will leave about 9.
We will be leaving from home so, about 1 1/2 hours to port.

I understand the light side of it. Sometimes laughter is the best thing. I can't help but think how it really would put a damper on things. I lost my MIL while we were on the Magic in AUG 06. They could have gotten a hold of us on the ship but left a message on our cell phones instead. When we woke up in port we turned our phones on and got the news. It was not a pretty sight walking off the ship with tears running down our faces. Not the normal sad tears to leave, more I was hysterical. We NEVER turn our phones on anymore till will clear the port. I debated on booking this cruise because we will be on the same ship at the same time, this year will be the 2nd anniversary and it's still hard. Sorry to ramble, felt like sharing my story.

25dd won't let me leave messages like that ...anymore...... I am now supposed to say *Katherine, this is VERY important. Call me ASAP* She told me that she was tired of checking her messages and hearing *Katherine. This is your mom. ____ is dead. Bye.* I just didn't know how to say that over the phone so, i got straight to the point.
The last time someone died I called and left this message *Katherine, call me. Someone is dead.* That was when she gave me the proper wording to use.......
I'm just not real good on the phone.....​

We run on Sunday too... 10am expected arrival at the port - for Alicia and the kids at least ... and myself with in-laws to follow about an hour later.

The shuttle will pick us up at LAX around 9:50. We do plan on making a grocery store/beverage stop on the way. Can't wait to see you guys again!!

So here is what I am doing at work while quietly losing my mind:

6 trail descriptions from a mapping trip 6 weeks ago (300 words each)

Answering insane questions such as "tell us everything you did this year with the gabillion dollars we gave you, the challenges you faced, how you resolved them, and what your plans are for the future" (1000 characters) about 8 lines of text! This post is longer than 1000 characters!

Submit a "detailed" letter of inquiry for a multi-year multi-gabillion dollar new initiative (500 words or less)

WHAT IS IT WITH ALL THE FREAKING WORD RESTRICTIONS THIS WEEK????

I usually have length restrictions, but they are more like 5 pages, 10 pages, etc. This whole week is insane.

I need a vacation.

Sounds like fun. I motion for M to take a vacation. Do I have a 2nd?

Actually, there are quite a few So Cal people who won't be leaving until as late as 9:00am!

Pirate t-shirts for the boys here too, but I have a slightly "upgraded" outfit, not quite just a t-shirt but certainly not a costume. And the boys are now complaining that I didn't make something for them, geez

Lucky people in CA. I didn't do costumes because there was no way I would be able to find room in suitcases. I don't know how other people are able to do it.

A last minute request for some prayers....

I just rec'd a phone call that my favorite cousin passed away. She was only 50. The doctors found a blood clot and had her resting..seems she got up to use the restroom and the clot let loose and went to her heart.


If you could remember my family in your thoughts and prayers..it would be appreciated.

I'm so sorry. You're all in our prayers.

I don't know if I could do that either. I think I would just hang up and keep calling till I have reached the person. I don't even think people realize the effect it has........it trickles down. We had breakfast plans with some fellow disers ( Andy- Verandah Man ) and we didn't show up, just to upset. I had called him later that morning and explained well they were wondering where we were and if everything was o.k. That trip was kinda our delayed honeymoon. I think this one will be a honeymoon no matter what !!! I have really tried to put things in perspective. Stuff doesn't matter...........family & friends do.

I am bringing my blue Castaway Cay hat. It may not look good on-----my DD always laughs when I wear it but that's o.k. 2nd week should be better for hair.

Question:

With medicines for travel can you still have it in the package do you have to take the whole box. Such as pepto bizmo chewables. I don't want to take the whole box. Trying to have space in my suitcase. I have rearranged my suitcase already 3-4 times cause I am trying to save space for stuff that we get lol. Cause I can just do laundry in the middle of the night lol.

I feel your pain!! When our oldest was a teenager I threatened to secretly video tape him talking to me..... He was NEVER rude in front of his dad! And I'm the mean one NOT dh! LOL!
One day dh had come home from work early (ds didn't know his dad was home....) I asked ds a question and he was totally rude (for no reason) to me and dh steps out of the other room.....ds turned white as his dad said *Don't you ever speak to your mother like that again. Do you understand?*

It worked for a few days!
