Hi everyone. I have been MIA for a little while.... just busy with my boys and my nephew. He'll be staying with us most of the summer. I am feeling way out numbered. 5 males in the house and me. I look forward to my Friday night/girl night outings!!

Penny

As you can see by my screen name, I can totally empathize :goodvibes Twin DSs 15 and DS 11 turning 12 on the cruise. Plus the worst one of all DH!!! How old are yours? And funny enough I have two nephews 21 and 17 who have spent a lot of time with us recently.

BIP, you were right...the 16th was our anniversary!

Debi
Awesome- congrats! I assume you weren't married 8yrs ago on the EXACT day I had her though, right? LOL that would be freaky coincidence if you did. LOL

Hey I resemble that..... This year...DD's b-day was during the week so she asked if she could get a cookie cake to take to school for lunch. I asked the school secretaries and they told me they have a no cake policy but "wink, wink" if i dropped her "lunch" off in a bag, they are not allowed to look inside.

The kids loved the cake and it was way easier on me to just order it....
Oh I didn't mean any offense to buying a cake. I just meant no way I couold make such pretty princess cakes that were shown on here for Rita's birthday... the best I can do is what I described (white with pink trimming and princess toppers put on the top). Other than that- I gotta buy it. That's what I meant. Nothing wrong with buying it- cause that's what I usually do. LOL

Don't tempt me dear.... I will have an unfortunate trip up there pretty soon.

My DGM is nearing the end of her life. They gave her last rites on Saturday but the staff at the nursing home told my dsis it's just a matter or time. She is in her late 80's and unfortunately has had pretty bad alzheimers for the past 10 yrs. She doesn't know who she is and didn't know who my grandfather even was the last few years of his life either.... She was always so nice to my Dsis and i as kids so it has hurt me to not have her know who we are or who her Great grandkids are. :worried: She'll be a better place though at least.
Oh I'm so sorry to hear that. :(

It is a great costume but for $175 I would expect it to talk and walk around too. ;) :rotfl2:
yeah and maybe do my laundry too! LOL

I agree that if there is an illness or emergency or major conflict time wise then it is not the child's fault. In this case the mom talked to another mom in the class outside of the studio and told her that she was not going to let her child participate in dance because she was not maintaining good grades in school. I understand her decision with that as a parent but IMO if you do that then she doesn't participate any more from that point on. You don't pull her from the program and then have her show up to the recital unprepared if no dance was her punishment. What lesson was learned by the kid? Here she was "punished" but was able to participate in an event that was a big deal to the other members of the class who had worked very hard and attended class as expected to learn the dance and were prepared. If it wasn't a beginner class and had been more uptempo it is possible that someone besides this noshow who could have gotten injured during the performance because she was not where she needed to be. At this age especially, the reward of going to class every week and practicing is the recital. So in esence she got the reward without doing any of the work. Not the lesson I want my kids to learn, which is why I talked about it with both of them about how it affected the class and DD and why I tell them that they make a commitment to the team and will not disappoint the other members or the instructor/coach by not doing their part.
I agree.
and if I had to work and my kids couldn't attend practice- I wouldn't bring them to the recital!

Tropical Night Attire

I think it would be kinda fun if we all wore our Matching Mickey Postcard Print clothes to dinner on Tropical Night!

MMShirt.jpg
Aw we don't have that!

We will be wearing our Tiki Mickey outfits from a couple years ago. We still have the Aloha Mickey things before that. :) I will probably pack both sets.
I wonder which one ours is? It's either tiki or aloha.. not sure which. I know I can't fit in the dress though. Last time I squeezed into it and I think I've gained a few lbs in the last few years too! So it definitely won't fit me anymore. I think the only ones that can still fit in them is definitely Jeff and MAYBE Robert- nah he probably outgrew his already. I know the girls outgrew their dresses and sandals to match. I guess only Jeff can wear his. I wonder if I can talk him into wearing it even if we're not all wearing the same to match him? LOL probably not...........:lmao:

:confused3 :confused3 Stupid here....what is that?

WHOO HOOOO!!! SCORE ONE FOR THE WENCHES!!! And I wasn't trying!!! much.
WTG!

Thanks to everyone for Rita's birthday wishes and cake images! I showed her earlier and she LOVED them all (and has no idea they weren't posted on the 16th. I just love the young ages where you can trick them. hehe

Ok...I did decide I had to make my FE myself......for good or for bad....I wanted something original I could use as something special. I'm posting a couple pics here so if anyone else is interested in how to make one let me know. I would never go so far as to say it's as nice as all the others, but in the end I made it special for this TOAL and if you are feelin' that same urge it took me less than a day to sew together after having the fabric and images and spending little time designing it. The sewing was not a big deal.

Wow thats gorgeous! Good work!

:scared1: G'Morning everyone............just wanted to say hello. Lots going on here! First home swim meet tomorrow, I do the concessions so I have had lots to do for that, DS12 is in karate camp this week getting ready for his Black Belt test on Saturday. He will test along with DH who will be getting his 2nd degree black belt. DD9 is in VBS all week so I am doing a lot of driving.

I did however get to focus for just a little while yesterday and did buy some fabric to make the ever so popular fish extender............DD9 plans to help me devise a plan this afternoon as to how we want it to look.

A while back I was speaking of my FIL and the health problems he has been having. Dr recommended a feeding tube and FIL said no way.............well update: FIL now has changed his mind after speaking to his neurologist and has agreed to the feeding tube so he will have it put in on Thursday morning. I feel bad for him but really its for the best.

Lots of stuff going on here............trying to keep up as best I can. Hope everyone is having a great week!!!

And here I present one of Salem, MASS's "Finest" in BLUE... or rather black on the right (DS of Diane)

DS?

Tom I tried posting the Magic at the port the other day. I guess you have to keep the image up for others to see:confused3

It has been a hard decision Stephanie. I was going to try to take it through the end of the year, but with the two shows being as bad as they were, I just couldn't carry it through the summer, which is my slow time. I even got ripped off with a credit card at one of the shows, which was like adding insult to injury. But good news on that, I got a call from the police in NJ and they caught the woman and she is supposed to make good with certified funds by the 1st of the month. She ripped 4 vendors off at the show for over $800 with a bad cc.

I am ok with it, I gave it my best shot for 3 years. The scrapbook industry is always coming out with new products and if you can't keep up with it, you can't stay in business.

So I keep on thinking of this trip, getting closer and closer each day, and that's what keeps me going!

Thanks for your thoughts!

Debi

I hot glued my pockets on fabric to fabric. Only thing is I ended up with a dark spot that looks like a stain where the glue was. Also, be very careful when pressing it together....learned that the hard way. :headache:

Thanks, I think I will do that!

There is a product at WM called no sew...or something like that. I have sewed quite a bit but simply didn't feel like it when I wanted to alter the curtains I had bought and this worked GREAT on both shears and cotton fabric. It works like hot glue but there are no spots that show through to the front. It is like the wonder under too but comes in rolls up about an inch wide. :) Just irons on and you are done. Our curtains have been washed and pulled on and are still holding together. HTH!

That does help! I appreciate everybody's advice! :)

I think I will do a test area of the Hot glue, I am using jean fabric or, (yes Andy), white t-***** fabric for the pockets. I have a jean fabric backdrop thingy too. So I would guess that the hot glue would work fine. AND, I already have it, AND as Andy said, I don't plan on washing it! (Well, unless we get some really messy gifts or I need an excuse to go to the laundry room beverage fest.)

Morning all! Just a drive by posting. Still alive and kickin! :cool1: Just when I think things are settleing down... not! DD has 3 games this week, one's a make up. And I am taking her back and forth from morning choir practice to the SA day camp. Using my lunch hour and the comp time I erned Sat. Today I'm bringing her to work as a special guest will be in the building this afternoon. Stanley! So dd can get her pic with it.

Next week no games!

Yep, this was our final night on th beach:

We didn't see any turtles come ashore to lay eggs (the moon was hidden by clouds). We're both having a hard time getting back in to work mode, especially with the TOAL so close :lmao:

Andy

Is that what you guys really look like? Slighty different that the last pix we saw! :rotfl: :rotfl:

For anyone flying Delta, I spoke with their customer service department yesterday and if you purchased your tickets before April 9 they are allowing you to check 2 bags! The lady did suggest that you bring your original confirmation with you as proof of when you purchased.
