Hi all,

Hi All!

Just popping in to say hi :)

I have been busy with the girls while DH has started tiling the kitchen, Olivia took her first little step today, not far and she promptly fell over bur none the less it was a step!

I took my Mum to London yesterday for a belated Mothers Day treat and we went for dinner at an Italian restaurant (our favourite) and then went to see Carousel in the West End which was lovely.

Anyway hope you are all well, not too long to go now!
Mel

Good Evening everyone. Hope all are well. Just got over a round with the good ole' stomach bug.:sad1::sad2: Got it from my DN - both myself and my oldest DD.

Just got ready to go scrap booking tomorrow after work. Love the night out and working on Disney from 2007. I still have to do 2008 and then catch up with the kids school albums. Never done but still love doing it. :woohoo::yay:

Welcome back all from your trips. Glad to hear everyone had a good time.:woohoo::dance3:

17 weeks until the August 15 th, 2009 Tortola Treasure Seekers Cruise:dance3: :cheer2:

Let the Party Begin
:cheer2: :dance3: :hippie: pixiedust: :beach: :clown: :jumping1: :rainbow: :Pinkbounc :dumbo: :simba: :maleficen party: :dancer: :rockband:

Welcome to the Weekend

Could you get Haley to PM Stephen/Alice on the DISNAME AL'N'STEVE, they are looking for friends for the cruise, I must say Stephen is of the age that he is a Boys Boy, and not into 'girls' just yet, but The rock climbing and softball, might well get his attention as he is very adventurous.

Haley is just 2 years younger than Alice so she would correspond as well.

I think they want to organize a party on our verandah!!!!!:scared1: (its a big one!)

Don't brag dad ... I already am e-mailing Haley

... we have a new HOT TOPIC!

I love the hot topic! It is a great an excuse for me to get everyone talking about things I want to know! :rotfl:

So, our new hot topic is...what should we pack and what should we leave at home?

:goodvibes:goodvibes WHAT SHOULD I PACK ?? :lmao::lmao:

I love to talk about this !!! :thumbsup2

We , as you know, are coming all the way from Italy and ALITALIA allows only 20 kilos per person !! :scared1:

SO we need to use ONLY light / soft / collapsible suitcases
( This way I save 3-5 kilos - that is the normal weight of a HARD suitcase - and can pack more !!). HINT to Jen !!
I travel with just ONE suitcase + a backpack (hand baggage) + a trolley (carry-on).
Marco travels with ONE suitcase + his BELOVED camera bag.

[We have 15 days at WDW prior the cruise - and 2 days in New York after the cruise ]

I use to pack 6 different shirt/top/ blouse + skirt (cotton - breathable fabrics); I wear them at WDW / I usually have a laundry done at mid vacation / AND another one done just before embarkation ...
Same shirts/skirts are the ones :thumbsup2 I wear for excursions / days in port.

We buy very cheap underwear and wear it just once ; no need to do laundry ........................
... ;) when we shower we just waste the underwear and use a new one !!
(Yes , that means plenty of underwear / but you can store it FLAT at the bottom of your suitcase - and always have a fresh underwear !).

Then I pack a couple of NICE OUTFITS for dinner ; if you are clever , you can accessorize and change your look COMPLETELY !!! ;) Jacket / a dress / skirt / pantsuit can be "coupled" in various ways - as if you had brought a lot of outfits with you !!!!! :thumbsup2

:rolleyes1 I'm still not sure about the FORMAL NIGHT ; I guess DGH will wear a tux or a white jacket ...
Myself ... I'm dreaming about :eek::eek::scared1::eek::eek: a "princess" dress ... but I won't dare ... I think ...

Have to go now ...:yay: DGH has just arrived home with some friends ...

BUT I'll always be ready to talk about :lmao: PACKING and DRESSES !!!
( Hey , after all Italy is well known for :rolleyes1 "elegance" !!!! :rotfl2: and I love to "dress up" ...)

HAVE A GOOD WEEK END !!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'll print it for my desk ... :rolleyes1 in the teachers' room !!! :lmao:

[ My Essex girlfriend is one of the most positive persons I ever knew !! and her DD , Alice , is  a "wonderful" teenager ... ]

Ciao, laura

Oh you said ''wonderfull'' -see below

Don't brag dad ... I already am e-mailing Haley

Oh yes, yours will be 5am Sunday!!!!:scared1:

Strange thing is, bar Tortola, 'the baths' I do not really want any shore trips, the St Thomas Island tour and a few others have been canceled and there isn't anything really that interests me now, been there before, may go shopping, still looking for ideas, of course Castaway, just the beach.

So just going to get Palo.

Since we have 9 nights before the cruise and then the cruise...we have to figure out how to pack creatively!

We are going to try to pack using the following:
1. Each person gets one carry on bag - as big as they allow!
2. Each person will have one backpack
3. As a family, we get one large luggage to check (love the hint about it being soft and light weight).

DD and I love sun dresses and the pack nicely. DS and DH will do a few pairs of shorts and several shirts. I am going to try to limit each person to only items that can be mixed and matched to get the most looks out of the least amount of clothing.

DD has a beautiful long formal gown ($12 - brand new from the thrift store). We will scrunch it all up and then pay to have it pressed on board. I would like to find a formal gown (already checking out the thrift stores) and would do the same.

We will do laundry the day before we get on boat. :laundy:

Our challenges...shoes! Still have no clue how to limit the shoes enough plus...DH shoes are size 13...they almost take a whole piece of luggage each! :rotfl: Other challenges...fish exchange gifts, pirate costumes, things we buy on the trip, all the bathroom stuff and sunscreen, and everything else I think we need to pack!:rolleyes

I responded to a question on where the ship docks in Tortola, thought I would copy here.

Ships dock and anchor in Tortola on one long pier they can dock either side of it . The pier can only hold 2 ships, however, so if more are in port, it will require tendering. Both pier and tender drop-off are located directly in Road Town, the capital of Tortola. Taxis are available, but not metered, so be sure to negotiate a price upfront. Some ships will also anchor off-shore for a few hours and tender passengers to the Baths in Virgin Gorda.

I'll bring ONLY sandals for WDW / shore excursions + a pair of comfortable (well broken-in) shoes for ;) those Florida / tropical :scared1: afternoon storms ...
Oh no !!! WE need also dress shoes ( I guess I'll bring black dress sandals which can match with every attire ...).

 CIAO Jen !!!!!!!!!!!!

I'll HAVE now to "study" about Tortola ... to know more about the island and plan what we'd like to do ashore ; ANY SUGGESTION for a site where I can learn EVERYTHING about Tortola ??
TIA , laura :wave2:

Hi Laura,

You can also check out Trip Advisor website for lots of good Tortola info.

Glad to hear your family is ok in Italy. I have lots of family there too and all are ok as well!:grouphug:

Ciao

Jen,

Ok how weird is this? I have been checking out your blog/website. Which by the way, it superb!! You had told me about DSIL going on cruise with her 2 kids...one of which is same age as my DS 12...but even weirder is that we are in rooms next to eachother!! I saw what room she is in on the FE list. We will need to get together for sure! Do you know if you all will be doing wine tasting?
