Someone mentioned that the 7th floor at RPR has special amenities....what are they? And, are they worth the extra $$$? Also, how does RPR compare to HRH and PB? I know they are a litte more expensive. Are they better, or just different themes?

I think you're referring to the post that said Tower 3 offers special amenities since it is where the "club level" is located. If you book Club Level you will get food and drink offerings throughout the day at different times.
I have stayed at HRH and RPR. It depends what you like. I loved HRH, but think I would choose RPR again next time. It was much more relaxed and less crowded around the pool. The HRH rooms are a bit bigger and it's such a short walk to the parks.

I think you're right. I had heard that they offer a continental breakfast. I was just wondering if you would save as much money on food as the price difference is for the room. My cousin in South FL goes to Universal on a regular basis, and she is the one who told us about RPR. In fact, we had a room booked off-site last year and she talked us into changing that. I am soooo glad we did, because it was really nice. But I wouldn't mind paying a little more for a room if it was worth it.:smooth:

It depends on your circumstances. We are not really breakfast eaters. We take "breakfast bars" with us and have that in the morning. We spend most of the time at the parks or the pool. To us it isn't worth the extra $$ for club because we wouldn't even be at the hotel for the evening food and we don't eat breakfast. Also, we are two adults. If you are feeding children, it may very much be worth it to you.

Do you normally eat at the City Walk resturants? I was looking at the menus on here and I am surprised at how reasonable the prices are. We do have two children and it seems like we are all hungry all of the time. It's hard for me to believe two little girls can eat so much. Plus, even though they are excited about the rides, being at ANY amusement park seems to give them hefty appetites!!:confused3

Our boys are 15 and 18 and we've used the club level for 2 vacations. They are both bottomless pits as far as food and drink, so it was worth it for us. Our plan was to eat a fairly decent amount of breakfast in the lounge and then just snack at the park during the early afternoon. Then, because dh and I like an afternoon cup of coffee, we'd come back to RPR and the kids would have veggies, nachos, fruit, etc. (usually while the July t-storm moved through) Then we'd hit the parks again and have a late sit-down dinner either in the parks or at City Walk. We alway took bottles of water from the lounge with us to the parks....water is expensive in the parks. The boys also had a couple bottles of soda from the lounge in the room.

Thanks so much!! I hate to keep bothering you guys but....what kind of food are you talking about? Is it the typical continental breakfast and snacks the rest of the day, or is it more like sit down meals? And also, does "in the lounge" mean the lounge on the club floor, or the lounge downstairs? Are the rooms different?

They are not sit down meals, they are appitizers in the evening. The breakfast is the typical continential but the Mango Cream Cheese is out of this world. I didn't remember anything there lunch time other than the soft drinks, coffee & tea. They don't include liquor or liqueurs. It is only on the 7th floor lounge not downstairs. To me, it isn't worth the extra money. I did it when they first opened up and got the rate of $139, yes, it was worth it then. But for the rates they charge now, I do not think it is worth it. I have stayed at WDW's Poly & their's was worth it, they had "real food" in the evening. Each night was a themed night (such as Mexican, Italian, Chinese etc), then from 7pm-9pm they had complimentary drinks (sweet liqueurs) and mini pastires. As far as the room set up, they are the same as the other floors. Only thing there is that you can end up with a pool view & not pay more, at least that is how it was.

.........don't forget about the hot, iced cinnamon buns in the morning! ;)

Thanks so much for the info!! I used to think we wouldn't spend that much on food a day, but that's only averaging $30 a meal. There is probably no way we would spend that at breakfast, but lunch and dinner are a different story. It might be worth checking into in the future!!! We do LOVE cinnamon buns!!:lovestruc

Sometimes I wonder if I should even try to save money when we go to FL.

Sorry I did not contribute earlier to this thread, 'cause RPR is one of our top three!!;)

I think it needs to be laid out like this:

AM - Bagels, toast, cereal; milk, tea, coffee, and fruit (and do not forget those scruptious hot cinammon rolls!).

daytime: Fruit, soda, water (and sparkling water); coffee and tea.

5pm to 7 pm: What I would call heavy hors d'oeuvres. Sometimes, nachoes type stuff, sometimes, skewers of chicken. Always, 4 or 5 kinds of cheese with crackers, chips and dips, and fruit plates. {Hard Rock does a little better at this; they seem to have more hearty "meal" kinds of things like hot meatballs, etc}
Also, all the beer and wine you want - wines are good, beers are domestic plus Coronas.

"bedtime" cookies and milk - this seems like a misnomer, as they usually have some pies, cheesecakes, etc. Usually served from 8pm until closing at 10pm.

One thing I want to point out - with the price of a bottle of water "in park", we do really well by picking up two bottles of water on the way out to the park. Plus it is really cool to be able to carry a bottle with a "RPR" or Hard Rock" lable!
Hope this info gives you a better basis to figure out whether you think it is worth it to stay at club! We find that with a really good lunch either in the parks or in citywalk (HR Cafe has a great sampler platter!) that we can't eat too much more than what we get between the club stuff, Lunch at someplace great, and maybe a late night snack in City Walk for the adults. Enjoy!!

One thin:sunny: :hyper:

Thanks for that detail!! I think when we go back and it's just "us", I'll try the club floor. I hate to ask someone else to spend the extra $$ when I'm not sure if they would want to. I thought it would be nice because we are really "snackers" more than big meal eaters. I'm sure one meal a day would be enough to satisfy us. :jumping1:

The free water is very cool too. But can you take as many as you want? And can you get it throughout the day?

:sunny: Yep - you can take as many bottles of water and sodas as you want.

I like to get a few at night just before bedtime and put them ice in the room, so that they are really cold before we head to the parks. They only stay "cold" for the first hour or two, and then I fill them at the water fountains in park that are always pretty cold.

The water and sodas, as well as tea and coffee and fruit are available all day. Sometimes they will also have bags of chips, etc.

I always try to take a couple of bottles home with us too, just cause the "private lable" is so cool! :wave2:

I mentioned it to DH last night, and he sort of acted like it wouldn't be worth the $$. But he is not really a breakfast eater like my DDs and I. We usually eat a pretty hearty breakfast because we get up early and don't want to have to eat lunch at 10:00. He also mentioned getting tired of eating the same "snacks" everyday. Do they have a variety?

My personal opinion is that a break from the parks to come back and get more water and snacks would be nice. I don't think people realize how much $$ they spend on all of those little things.
