7DMT worth it?

3 adults and a toddler. 2 adults like roller coasters. We are focusing on new rides, versus old ones (Splash Mountain, Big Thunder) we have done before.

7DMT seems very popular - why? Should we burn a fast pass on it when the toddler cannot ride? If so, what is nearby so that the adult and toddler can FP something else?

If 7DMT is like Big Thunder, I would pass - love the ride but nothing new enough to warrant losing a FP I could use with the toddler. But if there is something cool about the ride I will.

FWIW, we have a 950 BOG breakfast spot and could rope drop, if that matters.

Thanks!

If you can get an early FP, I don't see it as burning one. 7DMT is really the only FP that is hard to get day of especially if you use the refresh method.

As for the ride, what is your feeling on Fantasyland rides in general? If you enjoy Peter Pan and Small World, you may like this also. It combines a dark ride like those with a family roller coaster.

It is worth trying it - you could FP the Winnie the Pooh ride for the other Adult & toddler (directly across from 7DMT)
It is a unique coaster with fun animatronics & theming
Also, if you have Memory maker, it captures a video of your ride!

It's a very cute coaster and fun for the whole family, but if you have little ones who can't ride I would only do it if you can get a fastpass. With it being newer it is very hard to get a fastpass for this when like us you are an offsite visitor.

I think the appeal is more of it being a coaster that parents and kids can enjoy together vs. it really being a must do for adults. All that said, my 22 year old and I have included it on our one day touring plan. I actually prefer Big Thunder and we are doing that one too as well as splash and space.

Its fun, but its not a must do/not a FP for us unless its a long trip and we're on a day later on. I prefer Space Mountain and Big Thunder.

Why don't you use child swap/rider switch to ride it? That way only one or two of your adults would need to get a FP+ for it.

Definitely not a thrill ride, but so smooth - such a difference from BTM in that respect, just wish it was longer. Love lifting arms w/o feeling like I have to hold on for dear life! Think it is fun to experience at least once, but not worth the hr. - 2 hr. waits. You could FP with rider swap, or FP w/Pooh as alternate for toddler as PP mentioned. Or you could do at RD and do Pooh with toddler, and make FP for late morning after BOG for other top choices - guessing maybe LM, ETWB if looking for new and haven't experienced new Fantasyland.

You probably want to pass then.

It is very much like Big Thunder, only much shorter and much less of a thrill ride.

Regarding your question of what is nearby that a toddler could FP, Winnie the Pooh would be a good choice. It is super close by, and it can get surprisingly lengthy wait times by late morning.

I love it! I thought it'd be a once-and-done, but it now screams "I'm in Disney World" to me. The theming is great and the music just sounds really cool. It feels like you're in the story.

Getting extra FP after using the first 3 for toddler rides is very easy so as long as you can get SDMT early in the day it won't prevent you from getting additional FP later.

How tall is your daughter? The height requirement is only 38 inches I believe, so many toddlers can ride. My daughter loved 7DMT when she was two. Just put your arm around them so they don’t bump their head on the back of the seat.

This is how I feel as well. I really love it.

It's a must-do for us! Like someone else said, it screams "I'm at Disney!" I'm not a big fan of thrill rides, DH refuses to ride most coasters, and our 8 year old loves thrill rides - the crazier the better, but we all love 7D.

For us, it's worth it if MK opens at 9 because we get an ADR at BOG and then get on the ride just as RD is happening at the front of the park, i.e. no wait and no used FP for it. It would not be worth it to me to use a FP for it or to wait more than 20 minutes for it.

I agree with the previous poster who said that it's geared to be a coaster the whole family can enjoy together. We like it because everyone in the family likes it, even my non-coaster kid. If you like dark rides, I'd say go on it. If you're going on it because you like coasters and you plan to be back in the not too distant future, I'd skip and ride when your toddler is tall enough. You can all experience it the first time together that way.

It's one of our favourite rides and we do it multiple times every trip (usually do EMM so we can ride it 10 times in a row). It's in Fantasyland, so you know it's not going to be a major thrill ride. But, I think it is really well done and very unique in it's combination of roller coaster and story telling in a dark ride format. When I get to the mine section of that ride and hear that music, it gets me every time!
If for no other reason, you should ride it to experience it once, especially if your focus is to do things you haven't done at WDW before. Take advantage of rider swap, then only one adult needs the FP and you can use the same approach on another non-toddler friendly friend with the other adult and basically double up on your fastpass power.

If you haven't done it, it is worth a fast pass to try it once. It is a cute ride and fun but many people do take it to seriously. We were in Magic Kingdom on the 11th and had a fast pass for the ride. Well the ride went down and a very nice CM told us to come back anytine after the ride was up and we would be admitted. So me and the 8 year old went up to Under The Sea rode it and returned to find the ride still down and a man yelling at that poor girl who helped us. He was screaming that he could not come back they had a flight in 4 hours and wanted that coaster back up NOW. Seems this poor girl had ruined his vacation. People do tend to get touchy about this ride.
